Denmark's King and Queen Bid Farewell to the President of Egypt

King Frederik and Queen Mary bid farewell to the President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi

The state visit from the Arab Republic of Egypt has come to an end, and on the morning of December 8, King Frederik and Queen Mary bid farewell to President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi at Christian VII’s Palace at Amalienborg. Before departing from Denmark and continuing to Norway, the President of Egypt signed a windowpane.

When guests of princely rank or heads of state conclude a state or official visit, they traditionally sign a windowpane as a gesture of farewell. The pane will be displayed at one of the royal palaces as a memento of the President’s state visit to Denmark.

She is known to be active and health-conscious, which aligns with her role as a public figure and royal. Anyone can make healthy life choices.

  4. This blue pantsuit looks wonderful, I love the jacket, especially. The fit of this outfit is perfect. Love the color, beautiful shade of blue, suits the Queen well. The black jumper equally a good choice. She has the most perfect posture.

    1. Regarding the fit: I think the jacket fits well though it wouldn´t hurt to go up a size. And the trousers are sitting too low on her. The crotch should be 3-4cm higher up, and that would also bring the total length up and prevent this sweeping-the-floor effect. I still think it´s a good-looking suit, but I would call the fit perfect.

  5. Les lignes de cet ensemble flattent à merveille la silhouette de Mary avec peut-être les jambes un peu trop longues !

A fabulous suit on Q. Mary - wonderful colour, excellent fit. The asymmetrical closing is so interesting and flattering.
I prefer it without the turtleneck sweater underneath, but I guess it’s a cold day. (V.M.)

Gorgeous suit!!! I love the color on Queen Mary--she looks beautiful here. The fitted jacket is perfectly fitted. Everything Mary wears from The Fold is wonderfully designed and so well fitted. Love she added the black turtleneck for extra warmth.

  11. Mary is succh a fan of the British fashion. Even I have more items from Danish fashion brands than Mary. Such a missed opportunity. Royal ladies are supposed to showcase the fashion industry of their contries - look at Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, UK.

Are you sure that they are supposed to do so or is it a mythos? Queen Elizabeth in her later years never did that and no one complained.

That is not a thing. They can wear whatever they choose to. It is understandable that they would highlight local designers when they can, but their wardrobes should be what they like as well.

I thought it was a certain Mrs Kelly who made Queen Elizabeth's clothes, especially in her later years. When she was younger she had sometimes beautiful evening gowns, probably by Dior or another famous designer.

It is the least they can do wear something made in their own country. Or buy something made in Denmark from the taxpayers of the country in which she is the queen. This is called loyalty.

Anon 21.28, I understand your perspective, but I think Mary's fashion choices reflect her personal style rather than a lack of support for Danish designers. While it's true that royals often promote national fashion, Mary's global style is a part of her broader international role. Fashion is subjective, and perhaps she feels that international designers align more with her tastes or the occasions she attends. It’s also possible that Danish fashion doesn't always fit the formality or visibility needed for some royal events.

    6. Anonimen 21:28. May I ask what Danish brands you own or are refering to? I admit, I know very little about Scandi-fashion as it is called where I live, but none of it seems to be something I would want to see Queen Mary wearing. Since you seem to be quite familiar with Danish fashion, I would appreciate your input. Thanks a lot.

Although I like some assymetry in up-to-date clothes, I don't like the assymetric closing of the jacket.

Beautiful suit and looks perfect on QM. But I am disappointed in many of her fashion choices since becoming Danish Queen. She seems to prefer a business-like look. A pants suit feels too casual to me for a high-level official event, and is boring for fashion observers like me. S.M.

    1. While Queen Mary’s suit is indeed stunning and fits her beautifully, it’s understandable to miss the more glamorous, high-fashion choices from her earlier days. Her current, more business-like style might not always capture the excitement of fashion observers, but it also reflects her evolving role and the practicality often required at high-level events. That balance between professionalism and fashion is tough to get right every time!

Letizia avait récemment elle aussi un costume bleu avec un haut noir.
