      Hello, Ava!
I wish you and yours Merry Christmas and happy holidays!
You know, Aarhus is basically a university town or better still it is a city.
There's plenty of historical places and landmarks of Danish history and culture you can see there.
I occasionally go to Aarhus cause it is truly worth visiting.
I've been an almost regular "visitor" by now, at least when my bits of spare time allow me to stroll around Aarhus.
I still remember the first time I went there and headed off to Marselisborg Slot, which means Castle/ Palace.
      Wow, the sight!
It is surrounded by a number of breathtaking gardens, but, alas, at that time I managed to see very little of this wonder and from a distance as the Monarch ( Q.Margrethe) was spending some time there and there were Guards and security staff everywhere.
The Castle was closed to the public.
Later on, I went back to the Slot again and I succeeded in visiting the areas which stay open to the public when the Royals are not in place in Marselisborg.
      These pics are fabulous.
Pss Josephine ia a true beauty.
She calls to mind ex model Elle MacPherson.
Josephine really has got the features and poise of a model IMO.
      Hugs for you.
I wish you and yours all the best.

    2. P. the original. Thank you for your reply. What a wonderful sense of information, I learn so much from you! better than any history lesson! Its wonderful you have been able to travel to these locations and visit. It all helps with location and time. Here in Australia we are so spread out and have such a large, vast continent. There are so many beautiful places to see and visit, but the locations and expanse of miles, makes it somewhat more of a challenge these days.. Actually yes, Elle, you are right. She was one of the most beautiful Australian models we have ever had, who went on to fame. Josephine to me has the most perfect shape face and features, she is going to be a real beauty. She reminds me most of her beautiful mum. I have sent you a message already on another page but again wishing you all the best to you and yours, stay safe and take good care. Hugs.

The family seems dressed appropriately for the winter Denmark weather. I like Princess Josephine's gray attire. But Margrethe is photographed only with one son and his family. Even though they live in the U. S., would have been nice for the palace to have added a picture of Prince Jochim and Princess Marie and their family. The appearance is that they continue to be been sidelined - sad. (IMHO) That's seems what happens to "spares" in monarchies.

    1. Virginia, probably innocent - they were together because they were in the one place and had a picture taken. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

    2. I agree that it would have been lovely for the photo to include Prince Joachim and his family -- but I doubt we'll any longer see the family as united as it used to be. It is indeed sad, and something that I think must be a matter of great regret to Queen Margrethe.

    3. Oh please - only one son? So what. Joachim & family are off on their own; they are free & can do what they want since Margrethe cut them loose. This is a photo greeting from the Danish royal family. My goodness. ~~Ruthie

    4. I agree with Ruthie. There are too many comments on this blog passing judgement or making assumptions about a family based on a picture. It is as though they aren't allowed to have a life outside of public, royal life. Yes, it is lovely when there are family photos with the entire family, but not realistic for them to be together all the time.

    5. Keeping everybody happy and organising families and families-in-law at Christmas is always a bit of a headache.
Often noses get put out of joint.

    9. It is almost in all the European royal families like that now. Slowly but surely the royal families are shrinking. Times when brothers and sisters and their children could benefit of the wealth of the monarch and receiving money from the government for representing the king or queen now and then are over.
The Netherlands i.e. was the first country where the brother(s) of King Wilhem Alexander were asked what they wished to do in the future. Being a "working" royal and receiving a castle to live in with their family and receiving an amount of money to represent the Queen/King. Prince Constantijn told it in an interview once. He already had an important job at the European Comission and lived with his family in a beautiful house, he said he preferred to continue like that and just being present on invitation like on Kings day i.e.
In most countries with a monarchy the tax payers do not wish to pay for a complete royal family anymore like in the old days. The government has not the budget anymore to support an extended Royal Family with brothers and sisters and their children, nephews, nieces, aunts and uncles. Those days are over.
Today just the members of the Royal house receive a budget which is voted every year by the government. It means the king, the queen, the crown prince/princess. The other children are given the possibility to to study for a good job later. In Belgium the journalists asked Prince Gabriel if he will have a job in the military later. He answered "It is an option, but nothing has been decided yet".

  3. It has already been said that Joachim and family are spending Christmas with Marie’s family. Lovely photo of those that live in Denmark

  4. They all look relaxed and not tense and stressed like last Christmas.

  5. Beaucoup de sourires sur cette photo de famille mais à mon humble avis, elle manque de couleurs !

  6. Why do they all look so grey and colourless? At least Queen Margrethe add some colour and Christmas cheer.

    1. Because those are the colours of winter 2024, people like black and grey coats

    2. Neutral and muted tones are very much in line with the winter season’s color palette. The cool, subdued colors often reflect the calm and elegance of the colder months, which can also feel more fitting for formal events. Queen Margrethe's colorful choice, while lovely, contrasts nicely with the seasonal trend of more reserved hues. Fashion often reflects the mood of the time, and these shades can feel both sophisticated and in harmony with the season’s atmosphere. It’s all about personal style and the vibe the family is aiming for at that moment!

  11. Based on a light hearted comment, may I say that Queen Margrethe reminds me of a proud mother hen looking after her brood of chicks.
Happy holiday season to Helen and all the bloggers on NewMyRoyals.
