Bhutan's Royal Family Attends 2024 National Day Celebrations

The Kingdom of Bhutan celebrated its 117th National Day on December 17, 2024. The event commemorates the coronation of Gongsar Wangchuk as the first king of a united Bhutan in 1907, a milestone that has been celebrated annually ever since. Every year, thousands of Bhutanese people gather with the Royal Family to celebrate National Day.

King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, Queen Jetsun Pema, their children, Crown Prince Jigme Namgyel, Prince Ugyen, and Princess Sonam Yangden, along with other members of the royal family, attended the celebrations at Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu.

  4. Beautiful fabrics and colours, always looking festive.
    These photos made me look up climate charts for Timphu. I expected this mountainous nation to be in full winter mode in December. Learned something again.
