On November 27, 2024, the Duchess of Edinburgh attended a special event at the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office, organized by Farida Global—a non-profit organization supporting genocide survivors and victims of conflict and religious persecution. During the event, the Duchess viewed 'The Women Who Beat ISIS,' a traveling photo exhibition. She also met Awaz Abdi, a Yazidi woman who was held captive by ISIS.
The humanitarian organization Farida Global was founded by Farida Khalaf, a Yazidi activist and co-author of The Girl Who Beat ISIS. Farida Global is managed by survivors of the Yazidi genocide and conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV). The organization has been advocating for the rights of survivors since its founding, following their escape from ISIS captivity.
What an important event--I am so happy that Sophie was there and brought attention to this cause. She looks wonderful although I'm not a fan of her shoe choice (I like the shoes but not with this outfit). Her caring and supportive gestures with the young woman survivor, Awiz Abdi, are so wonderful to see. I like her dress but am not a fan of the paring with the jacket--the jacket is pulling too tight since it is buttoned.

Lovely outfit. Love the shoes with this length dress. My only negative is the length of the jacket a few inches shorter would put it in proportion
ReplyDeleteSeparately the items are quite nice.
ReplyDeleteThe jacket is too long and too dark for this styling,It’s pulling buttoned up. Plus it seems a little long in the sleeve.
The dress is nice, maybe tan accessories would have elevated the look.Sophie has a beautiful pair of tan boots, that would have looked lovely with the dress, and maybe a slim tanned belt,to tie it all in.
She seems to pay a lot of money on high end brands, and yet she rarely(imo)gets it right. It such a shame, she has a beautiful figure and youthful looks. With the right styling she would look stunning.
Lowri.
I agree with you. Sophie has access to the best, but usually botches it in one way or another. I am not a fan of throwing a mismatched blazer over an outfit to try to make it look more formal. It usually ends up looking like as mismatched as it is.
DeleteReally like the dress/shoes/purse/hair but the jacket is off. To me it seems too structured for the dress. I'd suggest trying a slightly shorter unstructured mohair jacket in a soft pink or lavender perhaps
ReplyDeleteEn portant la veste cintrée légèrement plus courte sur cette robe, Sophie serait parfaite !
ReplyDeleteOui!
DeleteAlso the jacket is too heavy for the dress and the shoes too light.
But as always she is lovely and very supportive.
Lovely indeed. This looks really well put together.
