A memorial was held for the 21 people killed 50 years ago in the IRA pub bombings in Birmingham. On November 21, 2024, the Duchess of Edinburgh attended to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the pub bombings, alongside politicians and dignitaries.
During the memorial service, the Duchess gave a speech on behalf of The King. On November 21, 1974, bombs exploded separately at the Mulberry Bush, located at the foot of the Rotunda building, and the Tavern in the Town on New Street, killing 21 people and injuring over 200.
