On November 11, Queen Mary visited the Deaconess Foundation (Diakonissestiftelsen) in the Frederiksberg district of Copenhagen. In May, Queen Mary assumed patronage of the Deaconess Foundation from Queen Margrethe, thus continuing a tradition that dates back to the 1860s. For more than 160 years, the Deaconess Foundation has provided care and support for people in all stages of life, including some of the most vulnerable citizens.

The Diakonissestiftelsen is one of Denmark’s leading social enterprises, operating homes and apartments for the elderly, kindergartens, a hospice, and a large nursing school. The foundation was established in 1866 at the initiative of Crown Princess Louise, consort of the future King Christian IX, with their current site inaugurated in 1876.

  2. She seems to have few items from the brand The Fold. Reasonably priced for quality items. As these photographers show. QM looks lovely. I especially like the pop of color in blouce that brings the look alive.

    1. Ah no …. Shorter hair is some people’s preference and not others’ preference. Fuller thicker hair is some people’s preference and not others’. It would be truly boring if all were same! Grace

    2. Well said, Grace. Also, it is not necessarily true that short hair is fuller and thicker. We all don't have the same hair type.

  6. Impeccable !

  9. Why is Mary not promoting Danish fashion, but always choosing UK brands? I have more suits by Danish brands that the Queen of Denmark. Such a pity because Danish fashion is great. Leave the UK brands to the UK royals to promote. Every single english royal lady is wearing The Fold.
