Yes, as with every Royal Family around the World. Thank Goodness for the Royal Families of the Monarchs of - Denmark, England+its Commonwealths, Sweden, Belgium, Norway, etc as they bring Stability, Culture, Customs, recognition to their Countries, Charity, Foundations, Continuity, .... In a much better way that the Elect Presidents of Non-Monarch Countries - of Republican Countries such as USA. Republican Countries pay their Politicians exorbitant amounts + each Ex-President receives a massive pension for life, security for life, housing + chauffeur driven cars for life all for free. I'd rather pay the Royal family the tiny amount we pay than the Politicians

@PollyAnna A very fast Google for the cost of the British monarchy to the government states the Sovereign Grant for 2022-2023 was £86.3 million, or nearly $113 million US. The estimated of the cost to the US government for all former presidents in 2020 was $3.8 million US, and $5.2 million for 2023. The salary for a current US president is $400,00, and a $226,300 pension for former presidents-- with the presidential salary only being increased five times since the birth of the nation. If I recall correctly, the BRF isn't required to pay income or capital gains taxes, but in recent history (for the UK) the monarch and heir have voluntarily paid some taxes. US presidents are not exempt from taxes. While I can't be bothered to look up other monarchies, it is safe to assume that the BRF is the costliest.

What you claim are the benefits of monarchies may be true (though I might question the stability part), but putting down other countries and their forms of government is ignorant. Monarchies, as a rule, no longer govern. They are largely ceremonial. Each country still has a governing body--that cost money. Financially, countries like the US are ahead. Before singling out the US, remember her history. She is a nation settled and founded by people who no longer wanted to live by the rule of a monarchy and its abuses. No country is perfect, not even the ones with monarchies. You are clearly a monarchist. That is your right. Just get your facts straight before criticizing other countries and their governments.

Sorry I’m not into any form of hunting, no animal should be hunted down for fun, there is enough animal cruelty in this world and all “ the Royals” seem to go through history generation after generation pursuing these cruel hunting games. As a fellow Aussie I was hoping Mary would not be interested in such cruelty everyone has a choice. I feel so sorry for animals they deserve to live free without cruelty, they don’t have a voice and humans are their biggest threat. I love Mary however I now have no interest in the family she has married into.

As another Aussie here, who has always followed Queen Mary throughout her transitional of Tassie born, Sydney Professional woman to Girlfriend of a Danish Prince, to becoming the Fiance of (the then)Crown Prince Frederik, to the Wife + Crown Prince, to becoming the mother of four adorable vivacious, free spirited youngsters + now the Queen of Denmark... I think she is outstanding in her roles. The issue on Hunting, I would normally agree with you, but the different is, they don't Hunt for the Kill, it's a Sporting Hunt, Hunt for the Chase without harming any animals. Hunting the animals down helps to keep their deer, antelope etc'x survival skills alive, practiced, honed in on. If not for the Hunts, the animals would be at risk from predators. PollyAnna

There is no hunting of any animals for this annual event, and there hasn't been for many, many years. No foxes, no deer, no dogs - nothing.
Instead it is a skilled obstacle race with horse and rider over a set course in the countryside (the Deer Park in Klampenbourg) with over 35 water obstacles and jumps over the course. Thousands of people turn up to watch this sport.
. The name is only in tradition of what was once a hunting event many, many years ago.

It would have been nice if you had researched this "hunt" before spouting off. This is a riding event. A very popular one at that. I do not like hunting either, and I will not eat anything that has been hunted, but I accept that some families have hunted for generations. It doesn't make me hate an entire family because they are doing what they grew up doing. What is "normal" to one family is not always "normal" to another. It is sad that you no longer have any interest in this family. They seem to be one of the more down to earth royal families. I don't know if this royal family are actually hunters. They may just support this event as the royal family does each year due to tradition.

"The Hubertus Hunt has been held almost every single year since 1900 in Jægersborg Deer Park as a traditional recreation of the par force hunt. Although it was once a real hunt, these days it is more of a demonstration race and the horses are the only animals involved. The traditional fox and stag have been replaced by a set course and a leading rider wearing a fox tail."
      https://visitworldheritage.com/en/eu/the-hubertus-hunt/9a778af6-5963-41df-b362-80cbbc9fb515

"The event has become a traditional picnic in the beautiful forest for 40,000 spectators. . . You can experience the riders in beautiful and dramatic situations, flying over hedges, through the air, deep landings and not least the crossing over the black pond, where one or more riders usually take a dip in the cold muddy water, much to the amusement of the crowd."

In a way, if humans are eating meat, then all things considered: plastics, fuel, slaughter houses, quick and nasty fatty feeds for larger animals to make more meat and more money etc, then perhaps the old way of hunting for your dinner provides a better fairer meat. My mind has been changed over time living in a small rural community… I still think hunting is horrible in many ways and sports hunting for a trophy is despicable, but see that if we are eating meat, a well hunted local animal can be better for the forest and the planet. But I don’t want to see a beautiful animal killed ( and yet I realise it’s better to eat that meat than the plastic wrapped stuff in the supermarket). So maybe it helps to think a little in this area?. Annie

The Hubertus Hunt is not a hunt in the traditional sense of the word, despite its origins going back to par force hunting in the late 1600s.

The hunting at the Hubertus Hunt is known as drag hunting. There are no dogs, and two riders at the front of the hunt, wearing fox tails on their shoulders, are the hunted.

    15. Hello Anon 23:59
Can I suggest you take a look at what happens on your own doorstep?
The meat from the Australian national animal is hunted in the wilds for consumption in hamburgers, kebabs, meatballs and other meat dishes.
There's no factory farming of this animal, it has to be hunted.
I don’t think Mary Donaldson from Australia (Queen Mary of Denmark) after her marriage would have given instructions to her husband’s family on what they should do with their century old customs and culture.
I love your country. I love Aussi people who are beautiful and “cool”.
It’s a pity your country is so far away from Europe.
But with the icebergs melting, maybe we'll get closer together 😁
NOTE: About ten years ago I visited Australia and had the opportunity to taste Kangaroo tail soup. Of course, the kangaroo had been hunted.
It didn’t just hop into the kitchen and say, “hi you guys cut off my tail and make some soup”
A good ‘yummy’ recipe for kangaroo tail soup can be found via ….

Anon 23:59. May I ease your mind about this hunt? The following is a quote from sprjagt.dk, you can easily google Hubertus Hunt Dyrehaven for yourself. Here goes: "No deer or foxes are hunted. Neither of the two Hubertus hunts taking place are in any way dangerous for deer or fox, as no "real" wild animals is being chased. Instead, normally one or two front riders, bearing a fox's tail on their red riding coat, lead the way and pretend to be hunted." So, no bloodshed. Hubertus Hunts have a very long tradition in Europe.

    17. I’ve read that kangaroo meat is very lean.
If grilled, it should be cooked slowly as there is very little fat to moisten it.
Give the kangaroo steak a few good bashes with a rolling pin or a steel sledge hammer to make sure it’s well and truly dead.
Otherwise it could start hopping around on your plate.
Below, the link for a recipe for a bush kangaroo stew.
      Enjoy.

There we go again the hunting haters against the people who like to eat a roasted piece of wild meat. As long as the animals are killed to feed the human being, I am not against it. Does they have to die while hunting them, I don't think so. Where I live there are not much wild animals whose meat can be eaten. After they have been living in the woods a while, they are caught and kept at a farm where they are fed and by the time the hunting season begins they are killed like other cattle. There is also a lot of wild meat that is imported from other European countries, how these animals are killed I don't know. In some countries when the wild animals are not killed now and then there would be too much wild animals in the woods and not enough food to keep them alive. Every year there are foxes who attack chickens, lambs or sheep. The last years sometimes there are woolfs visitings farms and looking for food. They attack every animal they can find on the farm. Animals are killing other animals for food. The farmer protects his cattle, sheep, pheasants, turkey, chicken, even his dog(s)..... and whatever he is raising, he must kill the foxes or woolf to protect his own animals and his family, because his animals represent the money he earns to feed his family and to raise his children. Fashion wise : there is not much to tell. It looks like the same coats and hats are coming every year out of the dressing room. I like the coat Princess Josephine is wearing and belonged once to her mother Queen Mary. I also have a coat in the same style since at least 15 years and it is still looking good. I wear it every fall and/or winter.

In my town girls of that age are not allowed at school with fake nails, lots of make-up, dyed hair,... Maybe Josephine can do it during school holidays. I know also a lot of parents who do not allow their young daughters to dress and wear make-up like adult women. There is an age for everything. This is also a phenomena one see more in families with lower social standards. The higher the life standard of the parents, the more attention they pay on how their children (especially girls) are presenting themselves in public. The fathers are in general more protecting towards their daughters than mothers.

@Anon 19:27 You have just accused the King and Queen of Denmark of having "lower social standards". You are also assuming that they don't pay enough attention to "how their children (especially girls) are presenting themselves in public." Very bold statements. It might occur to you that times have changed since you were that age, and in many countries, that is acceptable. I would bet that the children of a king and queen have been brought up with better manners, and are more cultured, than most. Fortunately, Mary allows her daughters to live a somewhat normal life, unlike royals of the past. I have every faith that when they sit down to a formal dinner or are participating in an official event, their behavior is exemplary. Fingernails don't change their behavior one way or the other.

Did you see how long Princess Josephine's nails are ? She is copying her mother but I think she is a bit young for such long (gel ?) nails. My hairdresser also has such long and sharp nails. She hurts the skin of my head sometimes when she washes my hair. Once she was in a hurry and worked very quickly because she had a lot of clients that day. She almost put one of her fingernails in one of my eyes. I just had the time to close my eyes quickly but nevertheless had a red line just under my eye for a week.

It is a very lucky girl who has a mother who is stylish enough that she wants to borrow her clothes. I don't know a girl who didn't raid her mother's closet, unless her mother was frumpy or a different size. Don't think for one minute that a teenage girl is going to wear something that is not to her liking. For a teen, it enlarges her wardrobe at no cost.
