      Je suis d’accord, Paloma. It’s difficult with the black to see the quality/type of material in Letizia’s outfit, but nevertheless she’s absolutely elegant from head to toe. - Grace

  3. I don't like the boots worn with this dress. The outfit needs some bling. It's too dull, drab and boring. Even a metallic bag would lift it up a notch.

      Black like this is the epitome of elegance in much of Europe in winter! Not at all drab, boring, or dull, but as we say in French: la classe! Less is more in black! - Annie

      @Annie
      I do not agree with you. Black is worn indeed more in Winter in Europe, but not only black other fashionable colors are worn too. In the Southern part of Europe women wear more black than in the other area. Burgundy or wine red, berry, burnt orange, mustard, olive, bottle green, khaki and since a couple of years also winterwhite, off white, light beige, light grey, light blue, .... are colors you encounter very much lately. I like black too especially on blond women, less hard than on dark type women. On older women black is also very hard they prefer brighter colors even during Winter. In black they are looking older than their real age.

      @Anon 11:23 I don't think Annie was implying that black was the 'only' color worn. Naturally other colors are worn. Her comment was simply a reply to Sandra's opinion that Letizia's outfit looked "dull, drab and boring". I didn't agree with her comment when I first read it. I agree with Annie that Letizia looks very chic. Black is worn year-round by many women, not just in Europe. The season doesn't matter. You listed other colors, which happen to sound like Maxima's latest color palette. That is a reminder that color is only one part of a successful outfit. The style also matters.

      Not only Queen Maxima is wearing those autumn colors other queens and princesses do to. As well in the Netherlands, Belgium, Scandinavia, even in the U.K. Princess of Wales wears burgundy too. The colorfull clothes are not only made in the style of Queen Maxima, other royal ladies are wearing other styles in lovely colors also during winter. Queen Sylvia, Princess Benedikte, Queen Sofia, CP Viktoria, Princess Madeleine, besides Queen Letizia wore wine red too and soon when the problems with the heavy weather is Spain will come to an end she will also wear some of her red dresses. It is clear you don't like Maxima's style, but like I said her style is not the only one and the colors she is wearing are not the only ones.

      I think black dress is great! There have been floods in Spain recently. Queen Letizia should have considered that some areas are still recovering and it would be better not too colorful and bling. Keep a low profile!

  6. A long strand of luminous pearls, necklace, a brooch, something! Some earrings of substance, I cannot see what she is wearing so I can only assume they are tiny, I could be wrong.
    A colorful silk scarf (I am told that is for older folk, I am not that, but I wear them to brighten up an outfit, splash of color etc.....) The actual dress, I love and it fits her like a glove, she looks very good wearing this, I even like the boots, though as already mentioned above, a nice pair of small heeled shoes (I realize there is a foot issue, which I fully understand) Her hair looks beautiful, I notice she is growing it out. She had it cut shorter and I thought it looked fabulous, really suited her. Regardless of my tastes, she looks lovely.

      I think that people live in Wonderland, Spain has suffered the bigger disaster in its history with millions of euros lost , homeless and a lot of time to recovery and some people thinking in pearls..

    Queen Letizia looks great here. This dress fits her beautifully. I wish she had added either a pop of color or a belt with a contrasting buckle--maybe one with a metallic buckle. I brooch would have been nice but she never wears brooches unless its a formal occasion usually to pin her sash from some sort of royal order. The neckline is a bit odd--sort of funnel-like--so a necklace probably would not have worked. But the long plain line of the dress needs a boost.

    Classic and chic! No need for anything else but the dress, belt and boots. She has some really gorgeous high heel boots that I am sure we will never see again due to her foot issues. A higher heeled boot would be the only thing that could make this outfit better.

    I love these type of simple dresses. But with this length and the belt I think Letizia looks a little bit too " frêle".

    Queen Letizia is wearing a woolen jersey dress she wore before. With all the rain that keeps falling in Spain and the dead people they still find in different regions of the country, I think she cannot concentrate on her clothes.
    I find this dress a bit too long and maybe it would be better to wear it with shoes, but like I said she has a lot of other things on her mind right now and has no time to think about her looks.

      I think this is a very well thought out look. When you know how to dress, it doesn't take much effort to put an outfit together. While on her mind, I can't see how the rain and flooding would prevent her from dressing well.

      Did you see the video's ? Do you realize the anger of the people when king and queen visited the premises ? Even if it is not their fault what happened, it must be very confronting. The Spanish people said it themselves on this blog. They don't need a queen that is preoccupied with her clothes now. There are things that have priority. In the meantime other rewards and anniversaries are taking place. Life must go on in the rest of Spain too. I think most people don't realize the responsibility that is asked from a king and queen. I wouldn't be in her place, besides she is looking very tired lately.

    In view of the flooding tragedy in Spain, I think Queen Letizia knows exactly what she is wearing and why. No need to stress that black is a colour of mourning. Grey and purple are colours of half mourning. Royal courts obviously observe the rules laid down by protocol.

    Nice dress, don't much care for the boots, a heel shoe would have been better in MO. This was a bit too dark; this is a celebration.
