On November 12, 2024, Queen Camilla hosted a reception for the Booker Prize Foundation at Clarence House in London, ahead of the Booker Prize 2024 ceremony. The Queen welcomed the shortlisted authors to Clarence House to congratulate them before the winner was announced. Six authors from five countries were shortlisted. The winner was announced by the Chair of the judges, Edmund de Waal, at a ceremony held at Old Billingsgate in London, with Orbital by Samantha Harvey named the winner of the 2024 Booker Prize.
James is a great book- should have won! Good to see Camilla up and about and hosting important events
ReplyDeleteMême si Camilla la porte bien, je n'arrive pas à aimer cette robe chasuble ; elle nous a habitués à mieux !
ReplyDeleteI don't care for it either. It reminds me of a school uniform. She definitely can do better.
DeleteNot becoming, she has worn this combination before, comfy at home outfit.
DeleteOh I love the casual tone of all outfits as Camilla welcomes them into her home (one of her homes). I love the intimacy that that casualness and homeliness offers and how Camilla has introduced this aspect to the British royals, particularly around books. How very special for those authors. - Grace
ReplyDeleteWell said!
DeleteIch kann Grace nur zustimmen. Gerade das unaufgeregte Outfit stellt die Gäste in den Vordergrund und schüchtert nicht ein.

Agree to Grace and Sabsi. e.
DeleteCamilla is reading 2 books every week!
Lorraine (pseudo Rose).
ReplyDeleteVerging on the dowdy side and too informal even if it is an 'at home' event
ReplyDeleteThe price tag on Camilla's Fiona Clare dress does not give me casual vibes to be honest ;-D But it is a great style that works perfectly for her, I like it!
ReplyDeleteAt least Queen Camilla combed her hair, which cannot be said of the majority of the female authors. Nobody seemed to do a little effort to look fresh and to be dressed up a bit QC included. What a sad and dull performance.
ReplyDeleteIndeed
Delete… or a true privilege? To be invited in to an intimate home setting and asked to come casually to emphasise the intimacy and close conversation? They are world class authors and potentially shy people who must spend many hours alone for many months to create spectacular novels … how wonderful to meet each other and Camilla quietly without needing to be something they’re not? Not boring, not dowdy, but when you think about it, an absolute privilege to be relaxed together with a queen. - Grace
Delete@ Grace
DeleteIs it that what they expect of a Queen ? You can relax and have friendly and interesting conversations and appearing at the same time in clothes that are adapted for the occasion (simple, comfortable but fresh and not frumpy). The least you can do is comb your hair just like the bloggers ask from Queen Maxima. If I was invited by the Queen of my country I would never appear like that (even if she herself does not do much effort to look like a queen).
I agree to Grace. DonË‹t want to see them glittering like a christmastree…
DeleteI am not a fan of house duster and frilly blouse. It is possible to wear smart casual outfits without looking frumpy. I miss Queen Elizabeth.

You said it best…
DeleteWhere I come from a duster is an implement to remove dust. How are you using the word here? I think she looks sweet and approachable. (Annie)
Delete@Anon 21:17 I am not sure about how it was used above, but a "duster" is a long, lightweight sweater or coat, typically without closures. It is worn open, over a top, as part of an outfit.
DeleteThank you for the “duster” description! You’re right she doesn’t seem to be wearing a duster here. Thank you! (Annie)
DeleteA good Queen. Always giving her best.
ReplyDeleteThis outfit looks good and works in well with her location, Clarence House. She looks well and engaging. Lovely to see she is better.
ReplyDeleteThe jumper not bad, but the blouse is too young.

Too young? Mon dieu…
