On November 1, 2024, Princess Kako of Japan attended the opening ceremony of the 41st National Urban Greening Fair in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture. Before the opening ceremony, the Princess visited Ikuta Ryokuchi Park, an urban planning green space in Tama-ku. After the ceremony, Princess Kako attended a tree planting ceremony. The Fair was initiated by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism (MLITT) in 1983 and has been hosted in different cities across Japan each year since.

The fair is a festival of flowers and greenery that has been held annually throughout Japan since 1983 as a public awareness event to promote the importance of greenery among all citizens, to deepen knowledge of how to protect greenery, and to create cities where comfortable and prosperous lives fostered by greenery can flourish.

Kako's outfit reminds me of an Imperial Household take on Chanel. The frayed edges are very different for her. It seems like she is trying to break away from the uniform looking dresses and suits, and create her own look within the restrictions. I have really come to look forward to seeing what she wears next!

I totally agree! Kako's pushing her choices that are influence by fashion as best she can within the restrictions she is required to follow. I love her! Janet

For me, she looks lovely and I also have the impression that she does not follow strictly the usual Japanese Royal Woman Style, but instead, tries to find her own niche without being shockingly different. This two-piece is very nice on her.

    1. I totally concur! She demonstrates her personal sense of style, with a little edge, traditional yet modern! And she always looks so good, genuine, smiling and obviously interested by the causes she supports and the people she meets. She is a true asset for the Throne.

  10. She is so impressive. I love this outfit. The frayed edges are different for her and I like it, adding interest to the ensemble. I love the color, suits her well. She is happy and engaging so reactive to everything around her. She is a great asset.

  11. Nice suit for Princess Kako. I think the top could also work well with white or chambray jeans and chunky trainers.

  12. Kako has such a strict dress code to follow, I love that this ensemble isn't another conservative skirt and blazer. While still conservative, she looks a bit more fashion forward and modern.

So lovely as always! I love the fabric--very Chanel-esque. The added fringe is a modern look. Kako is marvelous and I love seeing her!
