  1. I understand that Mette-Marit likes this type of dress with a floral print. It's kind of her style. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. In this case I think the overall look is very simple and boring. She is a stunning woman who would benefit from a more sophisticated style.

The pattern is birds not flowers. I think it suits her perfectly.

I think that if you invite 22 people who have suffered to share lunch and their mental health problems, a simple dress is more apt than a sophisticated dress. And as you say, I think this is the style she enjoys in any case - and more power to her, who financially has the choice, and chooses this. - Grace

Crown Princess Mette-Marit’s bird print dress is perfect for the occasion and the topic at hand. Do you think the guests who shared their personal stories would be more at ease if the hostess wore something more formal? Not!

  2. I like this dress very much, but I think it looks better on the model.

I think it's disturbing that they talk about mental health in their official roles, but as private people seem to be holding a different/double standard. When asked by journalists about your son who showed physical and mentally abusive behaviour toward his girlfriend(s) they respond that it's a private matter and they won't comment because the police have to do their work. But at the same time when you get informed in advance by the police that they will arrest your son you negotiate a time and place for that arrest and go over to "clean" his appartment... Then you use your official role and status for quite suspicious advantages... I don't know, they lost their credibility as far as I'm concerned.
On fashion-topic: this dress is just plain and boring.

We have no idea of the truth as the gossip press has truly exploded this story, but no doubt it is painful and embarrassing and stressful to have your son in trouble, even before the story makes it to the tabloids. Let’s not presume to know and judge. - Grace

Fully agree, their credibility is completly lost.

@Grace: I didn't get this from tabloids or gossip. And in my opinion it's not presuming to know or being judgemental when pointing out that someone in an official role handles things in a not so good way.
That's why I mentioned the distinction between them as private people/parents. They should/could walk that very thin line in a much better way. Especially if you're then gonna talk about mental health issues. They might have their son in trouble, but the girls who were on the receiving end of his troubles also have parents - who have their daughters in trouble. I can only hope this will not turn out in the old tale of a wealthy, priviliged young man who gets away with whatever he did just because his parents are influential.
We might see this topic differently but with what we know so far this is were I stand.

The funny thing is if they had talked about Marius (a private citizen and not a member of the royal house), problems it would be used against them that they used their roles to influence the police or the people involved in the case since the police is still investigating. So win, win for the haters how only are nosy and think they have a right to know. What is heartbreaking is that people use this for their own agenda on a fashion blog. A good advice listen to Grace, read her words and reflect over them...

    6. @anon19:07 Using their roles to influence police and/or investigation is exactly the image that has been created now. Like I said: they (or their pr advisors or whoever goes over these things) could have handled this in a better way. Being critical about this has nothing to do with being a hater or having my "own agenda" (but thank you for thinking I have some kind of influence though ;-)).
I have read Grace's words and I have reflected over them, and my response was here above. Even though we see it differently I never called her anything negative or impolite, maybe that is also something to reflect about for others.

I don't think I've influenced a single person by commenting on this blog. Your reactions make that clear ;-)
You talk about spreading nastiness, and here I am being called judgemental, a hater, spreading rumours, ... by you lot. I would have preferred a more mature conversation because I'm willing to listen to other points of view (with arguments instead of insults).
Let's agree to disagree, and I do hope that both Marius and his (ex)girlfriends get the guidance, support and help that is needed.

I’m surprised that she wears this so often.

I like this dress on her. She might be choosing these small patterns so it breaks up her silhouette with clingy fabric.

Apart from MM's pretty dress which I'm sure she has worn before (comfort from familiarity is everything), I love the room decor, the table setting, and those silver candelabras with the beautiful tall white candles.

She can look stunning in simple and well structured clothing with straight lines and no pattern at all. This dress is better than most of her more frilly outfits, but nevertheless, she could leave the birds where the flowers are ... outside.

Glad to see M-M back--and hope she's recovered from the side effects of her new treatment for her chronic illness. Her dress is lovely--I think it is elegant and very simple. The fabric's design of birds is a perfect reflection of how birds can have important symbolism--they can soar free. I can understand why M-M chose this dress for this occasion. She is looking healthy and pretty.
