On November 5, Japan's Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako hosted a tea party at the Imperial Palace to honor recipients of the Order of Culture and Persons of Cultural Merit. Crown Prince Akishino and Crown Princess Kiko, along with Princess Aiko and Princess Kako, were also in attendance. Seven recipients of this year's Order of Culture—including manga artist Chiba Tetsuya and cellist Tsutsumi Tsuyoshi—as well as 15 individuals recognized as Persons of Cultural Merit, including professional golfer Aoki Isao, attended the tea party.
Princess Kako in red looks really smashing amongst all the other pastel colours.
Paloma.
ReplyDeleteThe red ensemble is my favourite. Princess Kano looks fabulous
ReplyDeleteThe Empress's outfit is the first one ever, that I really am not fond of. The color is off, the fabric's seem reversed, the lace should have been the top and the top the bottom. The jacket and blouse, plus pearls are lovely, maybe its just the addition of the lace skirt that is off-putting. Ari
ReplyDeleteNice look for all the ladies.

Kako wins again. Bold in red. Even her pearl necklace is different from the standard necklaces. It's modern and more appropriate for her age.
ReplyDeleteI think the Empress’ suit is a bit fussy and somewhat dated for her. She always looks wonderful in simple modern tailoring, especially pantsuits. What I do like here is seeing the cousins together. Their energy is infectious. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteKako and Aiko both nicely dressed for the occasion.I am sure Kako is great support for her cousin. Wonderful to see.
ReplyDeletePrincess Kako looks beautiful in her red suit. Red is really a flattering color on her. She always looks friendly and lively to me in pictures.

ReplyDeleteThankyou for your explanation that Aiko is wearing white next to Kako wearing red because the combination of red and white is a symbol of joy in Japan. Elle
DeletePure harmony.
ReplyDeleteA rare miss for me with Empress Masako's suit. I do love her pearls though! The star here is Kako--what a gorgeous red suit!!! Her necklace is perfect and different--the spaced pearls are lovely. I also love seeing the cousins together--they look as if they very much enjoy each other's company.
