On October 5, King Frederik and Queen Mary attended the 20th Anniversary Gala of the Crown Prince Couple's Awards at VEGA in Copenhagen. Various musical performances were held throughout the evening. During the event, the King and Queen announced that the Crown Prince Couple's Awards would be renamed the King and Queen's Awards.
The event was attended by past recipients of the Crown Prince Couple's Awards. The King and Queen's Awards will continue to be presented during a televised show on DR1, focusing on social work, as well as art and culture. No new awards will be given in 2024, with the first presentation of the King and Queen's Awards scheduled for fall 2025.

Queen Mary looks smashing! Love the tuxedo suit and her choice of bright and vibrant yellow accessories. Mary's yellow shoes are fabulous!!! I think its interesting that the men are so casually dressed while the women are in cocktail attire.
ReplyDeleteJanet
Agree ! I thought: where is his tie ??
DeleteJanet, totally agree with every point!
DeleteJanet, I also agree!
DeleteAs if the women and men are attending two different events.
DeleteIt’s like there dressed for two different events! The king looks like he’s just taken his tie off, after a day in the office, and jumped in the car.
ReplyDeleteQueen Mary looks superb in her Max Nara tuxedo suit.I’m on the fence with the shoes.I think I’d have preferred a black shoe,to give the look a more fluid look, with the yellow clutch bag being the splash of color.
I can’t get over how long Queen Mary’s hair is. It must be the new thing,as Queen Mary is doing and Princess Catherine has been growing hers out for a while! Its certainly their crown and glory.
Lowri.
Lovely outfit for Qn Mary and beautiful hair styling, probably professionally done.
Delete02.42 M has extensions, perhaps!
DeleteI suspect she's been using women's rogaine for several years now. It does wonders for the length and fullness of your hair as you grow older and it naturally starts to thin. I swear by it.
DeleteLovely pantsuit and Mary wears it well. I really like her hair back off her face which, in my opinion, is more flattering that when it’s hanging in the front.
ReplyDeleteMary looks fab! So sleek and sophisticated. Love it.

Agree Anon 9:13
DeleteAnd the eye to eye contact in photo n°4 is beautiful.
Deadeggs, my thoughts too!
DeleteAnd often when he's with Queen Mary, he has that look of "the cat that got the cream".
DeleteSo why is the king not wearing a tie, its the least he could do. The queen seems overdressed compartmented to him.
ReplyDeleteMary looks great;love the shoes and matching clutch.Well she has had such a whirlwind one minute in Australia next in Denmark .Frederick is a lucky man to have such an accomplished wife(Tara)
ReplyDeleteGoodness she looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pantsuit, perfect fit
But the shoes! Of stunning, I love the contrast and splash of colour simply divine!
Black with yellow accessories/color accents, teamed with sleek elegant hairstyle...perfection.
ReplyDeleteKaarin
Love the matching shoes & clutch
ReplyDeleteDress wise this couple looks like they are on different planets. Also Mary's accessories are too matchy matchy. it gives the impression of trying really hard. Frederik looks relaxed and appropriately dressed for a Tuesday night in Vega. Mary on the other hand is stiff and too made up.
ReplyDeleteMary looks gorgeous! Her shoes and clutch are the perfect accessories. It seems to be a trend that men are not wearing a tie. I have seen this in many other events too. I do not think it's a bad idea, it looks modern and relaxed.
ReplyDeleteFrederik has that sexyness that some people inherently just possess. This summer when the couple visited the Danish countryside, he got shouts from women that he is a hottie.
ReplyDeleteFred usually looks like he fell out of bed, after the previous night’s drinking, wearing the same clothes and rolled down a hill and landed in a cow field.
DeleteHaha, I have to agree with both of you :-D
DeleteDamsel Dragonfly
Wearing belts, bags and shoes that match too much is considered old fashioned.
ReplyDeleteBut if one likes it, why not wear it? Who decides what is "old-fashioned"?
Froufrou
Love to know from which label these earrings are.
ReplyDeleteTheir right on trend now.
Mary's hair looks polished and makes a clean and simple effective look.
Lovely suit and those shoes!!! Fairy tale stuff!
Freddy has to look more in the mirror. His sight will ameze him, he is Mister Wonderful!
And get's 10 points, just because the way he is.
And congrets to Tr*mp!!

No please Anna, do not raise Trump here. It’s way off topic and divisive. We come here to get away from real life and relax - Grace
DeleteThank you Grace!
Delete@ Grace
DeleteYou come here to get away from real life ?
1.Already forgotten the floods in Spain ? It was not finished yesterday the area around Barcelona got all the water now.
2.The military training of a.o. CP Victoria and the reactions of some bloggers who really are living in a different world than the real one.
3. Today Queen Mathilde visiting a conference about breast cancer (still a very real disease).
4. Etc...
The younger generation of kings and queens and other nobility are people who live now, in the real world. Some princes and princesses go to work every day just like anybody else. They are very much confronted with everything which take place every day.
@anonymous 19:23. you mentioned real life in response to Grace. I take offense with Anna's Trump comment considering this blog is mostly women commenters and in real life Trump overturned Roe v. Wade which left women with no reproductive healthcare rights leaving them to miscarry and dying more and more, found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman to the tune of 80+ million dollars and the list goes on and on!
DeleteThank you Grace! Annie.
DeleteThanks Fitzhugh. I always appreciate your fashion comments and your thoughts over the years here. - Grace.
DeleteAnna: You just couldn't help yourself, could you? That says a lot about you.
DeleteGrace and Fitzhugh: Thank you for raising your voice, your courage is appreciated.
Anon 19:23. This blog is dedicated to fashion, have you noticed? This is not the place to air your grievances with the state of the world. Instead of patronising a very sensible commenter direct your anger where it belongs, don't waste your valuable time on a fashion blog. Go ahead, make a change, don't be just a keyboard-warrior.
Rina
@ Fitzhugh
DeleteI talked about the royals. Trump is not a royal. I agree with your comments about Trump.
@ Rina
I do not agree with your comment. You completely misunderstood my comment. I am not angry. I know that we are on a fashion blog but even then we are confronted with the reality of daily life. Just by looking at the activities of the royals. I have the impression that we cannot talk about reality on this blog. Maybe ask the blog administrator not to publish anymore items which are referring to disasters (Spain), health (cancer), everything that has to do with military training of royals.... I do not have the ambition to start a blog of my own on any subject what so ever. We can read and see every day in the press and on tv what is going on in the world. I admit that sometimes I am skipping the daily news myself because it is far from relaxing.

Queen Mary looks lovely in the black tuxedo jump suit. Her hair looks good without the curls. I like her earrings. I don't like the yellow shoes and purse. I don't know why King Frederik is wearing no tie on a gala night. I have nothing against men without tie, but it depends on what ocassion. There is too much contrast between her outfit and his look.
ReplyDeleteI know it says gala further up in the article but I don't think it was considered a gala event in Denmark. It was a celebration of their award, and the guests showed up in a multitude of outfits.. But I agree on the contrast between the couple's outfits.
DeleteNo tie is very Scandinavian and they are in Denmark after all. Both king and queen are wearing nice suits, neither is wearing a tie, they both look great and that they’re having fun too. Someone above said wearing matching shoes and bag is old fashioned but perhaps only in her view; there are no set fashion rules and things vary across the world and of course from season to season. What someone as famous as Mary wears tends to create new trends and she can even set not follow new trends. - Grace
ReplyDeleteThe Queen and King don't look in sync.
ReplyDeleteAgree…but their sugars will see a never ending love story…
Deletehello no name : 22:06
DeleteYou know, I must be a "sugar" 'cause I love never ending love stories.
Especially if they're kings and queens. I just go into dreamland. 🥴
I wish Barbara Cartland (Princess Diana's step grand mother) was still alive.
She wrote a long collection of very romantic love stories (about 700).

Paloma.
ReplyDeleteMary looks elegant as always ❤️
ReplyDeleteI find her overall look quite boring.
ReplyDeleteAnd what would be exciting for you?
DeleteAnon 18:01 :
DeleteMary is looking boring?
Unbeliable comment! 😳
Wow, sensational.
ReplyDeletecss
I knew Queen Mary would fulfil her role beautifully but she continues to impress me more and more and she becomes more beautiful with time.....I am in awe!
ReplyDeleteMe too!
DeleteWell said Fitzhug :
DeleteI totally Agree👍
They're dressed as if they were going to two different events. :-/
ReplyDeleteQueen Mary looks wonderful. Australia was good for her.
ReplyDeleteSomething is missing inside. Queen Mary has a beauty that comes from confidence. Adapting to the new role maybe? I miss her old self. Bring it on Mary 😉
ReplyDeleteMenopause can be a factor. Women can loose confidence during that time.
