On November 14, 2024, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium hosted the rectors of Belgian universities at the Castle of Laeken for a working lunch. The King and Queen discussed developments in the academic world, scientific research, and higher education in Belgium with the rectors.
I actual like the queens out fit. The splash on colour on the skirt ties in nicely without overwhelming it. Love the shoes.
ReplyDeleteMathilda looks very nice here. I like the color combination of her top and skirt, with the orange flowers on the skirt coordinating with the orange top, and the flattering drape of the skirt.

Beautiful and relatively simple, I think the queen looks smashing in this outfit. Lucky she did wear colour as she brightens the whole group! - Grace
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful autumnal outfit! She looks great.
ReplyDeleteI'm "old school." There are four seasons and, one should wear the colors and tones associated with the current season in your hemisphere. In the northern hemisphere you should be wearing and enjoying browns, and oranges, and rust colors at this time of year. No one is saying they have to be dark and gloomy (that's the excuse I usually get from people). They can be just as bright and festive and joyous as the colors associated with warmer weather. Not to mention, you can also throw in some of your heavier, chucker pieces of jewelry at this time without it seeming too much.
Two jumpy happy claps from me for "Hilde" in this outfit! :)
Who is Hilde ?
DeleteLovely and well chosen outfit.
DeleteAll it needs to round it off is a nice autumnal bouquet.
Bouquets are not offered to the queen when she and king Philippe invite guests for a working lunch. Only when the queen is visiting a museum or another institution, it is the custom that the organization is offering her a bouquet.
DeleteYou are so right Anon 17:19.
DeleteThe King and the Quen are at home so, therefore, no bouquet is given.
I read too quickly the information given at the top of the page.
I’ll have to pay more attention next time.
But, you know, I’m a creature of old habits and they’re probably going to die hard.😀
Belle association de la couleur taupe et de l'orange qui donne un style très automnal convenant bien à la blondeur de Mathilde !
ReplyDeleteI like it very much too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, delicate and kind. Lovely Queen. Very elegant. 💗
ReplyDeleteI don't normally like drapes, as is the case with this particular skirt, but this is the exception, love, love! this skirt. The orange silk blouse looks great, and the dabs of color expertly placed on the skirt to offset the color of her blouse, perfection! The skirt is a good length. Love the color of her shoes, fabulous. It looks to be she is wearing pearl drop earrings. Her hair is well groomed. This is a really lovely presentation by the Queen.
ReplyDeleteAgree !!
DeleteShe is not wearing pearl drop earrings but golden earrings (which match better the colors of her clothes).
DeleteI think Queen Mathilde looks smashing here--great colors for her. I do not like orange but this is an outfit that is really quite beautiful, especially for this time of year.

J'aurais pu écrire les mêmes phrases. Tout à fait d'accord avec vous. Paloma.
DeleteWow a new wonderful Dries van Noten. Stunning.
ReplyDeleteIt is not new but from 2019. She wore the skirt and top in the same fabric and colors for a state visit to the GD of Luxemburg. Afterwards she bought the orange top to create another outfit with the skirt.
DeleteWhilst on the subject of autumn (fall), le’ts not forget the
ReplyDeletebeautiful words of the famous English poet John Keates …..
"Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness;
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;
To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
For Summer has o'er-brimm'd their clammy cells.
Queen Mathilde's skirt is part of a two pieces outfit, top + skirt by Dries Van Nooten, she wore for the first time in 2019. The orange top is from 2020. She wore the skirt and top several times. She also has a hat, clutch, shoes in the same dark orange. Love it.
ReplyDeleteGood look for Q Mathilde.

Lucky Queen Mathilde does not wear ugly white tights during Winter but natural looking ones. During Spring and Summer she wears tights in a lighter natural color. She never wears those shiny tights either which some of the RL are still wearing today (was fashion in the 70s and 80s).
