The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh are making a four-day visit to Malta to mark the 60th anniversary of the country's independence. On the third day of their visit to Malta, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh visited Villa Gwardamanġa in Malta, where they learned about the restoration work on the former residence of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh where they lived as a young married couple.

Between 1949 and 1951, Philip was stationed in the British Crown Colony of Malta as a serving Royal Navy officer. Philip and Elizabeth lived intermittently in Malta for several months at a time in the district of Gwardamanġa, at Villa Gwardamanġa, the rented home of Prince Philip's uncle, Lord Mountbatten.

The Duchess then visited the Daphne Memorial in Valletta. The Duchess laid a bouquet of flowers to honour Daphne Caruana Galizia at the makeshift memorial in Valletta. Maltese journalist Ms. Caruana Galizia was killed by a car bomb in 2017, while investigating suspected corruption in high-level political and business circles in the Mediterranean nation.

    Love this skirt!

First off, Prince Edward desperately needs a new suit. This oversized, double breasted style just swamps his slim frame. As for D. Sophie, I much prefer the skirt worn with the matching blouse as seen on the model. As it is, the skirt is much too long, and the over-long sleeves of the white blouse just add to the problem.
I was so pleased when the Duchess started buying better quality clothing but a good stylist could help her immensely to put her outfits together. (V.M.)

    1. I agree. She spends a lot of money on high end clothing, you’d want to get your dollars worth.
The blouce in this instance is far too fussy, with handkerchiefs edging floating aimlessly, looking cumbersome!
Plus she desperately needs to be measured for good under garments. They make or break an outfit.
Finally get her dresses shortened. She’s dressing like some maiden aunt who’s never left the village!
      Lowri.

    2. The double butoning is not the problem because it's more elegant than narrow. Sophie's skirt is too long and I don't like the end of the sleeves.

    3. i totally agree about Edward, his oversized suits are ridiculous, double breasted style i not suited for his slim size.
And Sophie's style its not doing her any favours, she used to dress better when she was a countess.

Sophie is gorgeous and I usually love her style, but this is not it. It looks as if she's drowning inside of those clothes, which has often been the case in this trip. Both the top and the skirt look way too big and bulky, it looks very ungainly.

Best dress so far. Would change shoes, but understand why she chose to wear them.

    I like what she's wearing but I think it would look a lot better on her if;
    1) the top she choose was tailored to fit her. The sleeves are designed to go past the wrist but not almost down to the fingernails! She'd down better to wear the top that goes with the skirt. And ...
    2) she had worn a "lighter" shoe or sandal. The heavy, clunkiness of the espadrilles don't work with the light, airy-ness of the skirt and top.

J'aime bien les manches transparentes du chemisier. Le petit sac en paille tressée est joli aussi. Cependant je préfère la robe noire et veste blanche de la belle femme brune (photo 6). Paloma.

As usual, Sophie is wearing her skirt longer than it was designed to be worn. It looks much better on the model. I think it would have looked better with the matching blouse. She is not good at coordinating separates. She has made yet another decent garment look worse just by the way she has styled it.

  9. I like this look. For once, I don´t think the skirt is too long. I also like the white blouse which matches in style and actually looks better than the one on the model with the same print as the skirt. The length of the sleeves doesn´t bother me, but the shoes are all wrong. She likes those and insists to wear them with almost anything but that type of clunky shoe only works with a denim skirt or so. This light, airy outfit of floaty material called for an equally light shoe or sandal. No need for heels even.
Edward looks awfully slim, and as a result, his suit is too big for him. I wonder if he´s well.

    1. I agree with all your comments, Vanessa. I even wish the dress was a little longer--ie a full maxi skirt. This length doesn't work well at all. Edward has been looking very thin for quite some time now and I'm getting used to it. We don't know, of course, if it's been illness or if he decided that, hitting 60, he was going to lose weight

  10. i really like this outfit and dont agree that it doesnt fit but those shoes ruin it... those shoes look good on no one off a beach.. and I include catherine in that

  11. Sophie looks lovely here! Her skirt is beautiful and I like the maxi length because it adds a bit of elegance. I really wish she had chosen to wear the matching top as the white blouse, while very pretty, is doing the same thing as the one she matched with the Erdem skirt--it detracts from the overall look of the outfit. The belt really helps here. Again, her espadrilles are a good choice of shoe but I just don't like her espadrilles. Heavens--we need to get Prince Edward to King Charles' tailor! I understand he has lost a good bit of weight but he needs to have his suits taken in--this one is a beautiful suit but it's wearing him because it is so big on him. What a marvelous visit this must be for Edinburghs!

  12. Wow, what a beautiful outfit on Sophie! She looks magnificent. I would only change one thing, and it’s really just a tweak: would love it if the espadrilles were a red or coral to coordinate with the print on her skirt. — Jane

    1. I have been wondering about Edward's health for a while now.
In some photos he appears quite gaunt.

  14. Superbe jupe mais bien sûr un peu trop longue comme d'ailleurs les manches ; elle a très bien choisi les espadrilles !

  15. Almost the same outfit as yesterday. A skirt with big flowers and a white shirt(blouse). Today the skirt is too long and the sleeves of the white blouse are also too long. The espadrilles must be very comfortable since she is wearing them all the time now. Her outfits are becoming boring.

  16. Edward appears older than the 60 year old he is. He may not want to throw away his old suits, but when you lose weight you have to get a new wardrobe or have the suits tailored.

  17. I don't know what it is but since a while as well Duchess Sophie as Duke Edward are dressed very badly. Someone suggested that Prince Edward should go to King Charles tailor. I don't think that would change much because King Charles himself has only a few good suits + a beautiful winter coat that really fit him. Since he became king he didn't change much to his pant suits either. They are almost alll looking very used. Duchess Sophie was not dressed like it should be on this visit to Malta. She dressed herself like someone who is on vacation.

  19. The Duchess is too casual most of the time these days! I know the world in general is more casual but it would be nice to see some dressing up going on now and then.

  20. The skirt is pretty and feminine, I like it. The blouse is lovely.
