On October 5, the Duchess of Sussex attended the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles 2024 Gala, held at the LA Live Event Deck on the Top Floor of the West Lot in Los Angeles. The hospital gala was hosted by Jon Cryer and Lisa Joyner. The event takes place every two years and pays tribute to CHLA’s (Children's Hospital Los Angeles) patients and pediatric hospital workers, including some of California’s best physicians, researchers, and caregivers.

I guess this is a re-wear, with the dress altered, but it does not fit Megan well in the bodice. I like the lighter eye makeup on her, although maybe more glam makeup needed for a black tie event and with this dress. Her hair looks like she just came in off the beach - perhaps that is the look she was going for, but it seems incongruous with the dress.

Caroline Herrera is usually really good. But these breast cups are, how can I say, breast-deforming? or breast-alienated? or breast-unfriendly? It is a repeat and it was the same for the first time so there could have been time to reflect on and somehow change those cups that ruin this otherweise nice gown, one is compelled to stare at her breasts. - Also not sure if this amount of skin is a good choice, because yes, it is a gala, but it is a tribute for ill children and their carers in hospitals.

ReplyDeleteI don´t like this design at all. Way too low neckline plus very high slit. I prefer the wide version of the skirt, although the slit then makes no sense. The colour is nice and suits Meghan well, but I think this kind of dress needs a curvier body. The cups are too big for her and at the same time the dress is tight at the waist.
ReplyDeleteAlso, it´s a very "look-at-me" kind of dress, and her hair fails to live up to the same level of glamour. And lastly, if she´d brought a purse, she would have had something to hold on to and wouldn´t need to hold her friends hand.

Meghan is a beautiful woman and the red suits her well. I guess red is a dangerous colour for her, as people will use it to critisize her but I hope they don’t do it this time. I am so tired of the bullying these two people must endure. It certainly will put strain on their marriage. But a big appeal, let’s go easy on her.

They are clearly happy and Harry loves his new life away from the toxicity of the British royals and the even worse British tabloids. I love her hair particularly - she looks so much prettier than when she wears it back in a very tight style. I love Meghan in red but agree on this occasion the top of the dress doesn’t fit well. She has taken off the big train that would not have been appropriate at this occasion, but I think when she wore it before she was still carrying baby weight, and the bust on this needs to be taken in. DeleteYes I’ve been watching the changes over the California-living months too. She likely engages one of the best cosmetic surgeons in the area and visits regularly (peels, fillers, micro needling etc), as do quite possibly all her friends, quite normal for the Hollywood crowd from what I understand. I always prefer the natural as the constant small (and sometimes bigger) changes towards perfection take away some of the Individuality that makes her just her eg the cute freckles, her distinctive nose, cheeks etc but when it’s normalised in your community it must be hard to say no to (and she has quite a long history of cosmetic procedures in any case, especially leading towards her first tv role in the game show). - Grace

While it's nice to see her trying new looks and natural/paler make-up, I'm not sure I like this look (for all it matters). The dress could have been better fitting too. Schrecklich! Nicht für diesen Anlass, abgesehen das es auch auf diese Figur nicht passt - also unpassend wie auch die Haare und die Schminke. Vielleicht war sie auch an diesem Abend müde. Die Dame in dem Rüschenwolkenkleid strahlt und ihre komplette Abendrobe ist dem Anlass entsprechend bestens ausgewählt. Unter dem roten Kleid sieht man wie verknittert und nicht gebügelt die Unterfütterung ist, das kommt an dieser Stelle nicht vom sitzen und sollte für einen angedachten Galaabend auch unbedingt gepflegt wirken. Ein deutlich unpassender Moment das Kleid auch ohne diesen komischen Überrock im Original überhaupt auszupacken : ) da sitzt nichts! -Dorothe-

Sadly the cut of this dress does absolutely nothing for her!
It’s too busy a dress.It has an unusual chest and strap area.
The seemingly high split at the front,again isn’t good,especially with so much going on at the top of the dress.
Then from glimpses of the back,shows it hadn’t been measured to size,so there’s an overflow.
I’m unsure if this is a wig or her own hair,but it’s looking disheveled.
Let’s hope this particular dress is relegated to the back of her closet.
We all know there are far more flattering dresses at her disposal ☑️

ReplyDeleteAs the parent of two children that have been patients at Children's Hospital in another part of the state, I can assure you that events like this are necessary and appreciated. Only people that have never had a critically ill child, or severely injured child, would comment on the style of dress AT A GALA to benefit these children. The focus is to raise money, and the people buying tickets ($2,000 - $1M) are angels for providing the money for world class research and care for these children. My children are the recipients of this research and care. Meghan's gown was not the only one with a U neck. Molly Sasso also wore a gown with a similar detail on the bodice. The styles of all the women varied because they are individual people with individual styles. The men's fashions were equally varied. You must take into account who is attending, and where the event is being held. Everyone was appropriate.
DeleteAs for my opinion of the gown on Meghan, I don't think the fit or look of the breast cups is great. That is obviously in the design. It is her dress, and we can safely assume it has been fitted to her. I give her credit for owning a convertible gown that she will be able to wear more often, then actually rewearing it. There are ignorant comments made about her hair--the style and her natural texture. The "beachy" (as it is being called here) style is nothing new or unusual. It is not just a casual style. The negativity is reminiscent of what was being said here about her messy buns.

I very much like this dress, but it needs better tailoring. The whole look, with the beach hair and minimal make up, makes this all look like she just threw on a dress, fluffed her hair and left the house. And if that was the vibe she was going for, good for her for the attempt, but its not 100% successful.

ReplyDeleteThe red color of her gown, suits Meghan beautifully, I also love her strappy shoes, they are gorgeous. The gown however is awful. With the attached skirt and train, it was worse. The bustline, I dislike, this is not flattering at all. The overall design is not appealing whatsoever. Her hair hanging, doesn't have the desired effect, not groomed at all. As for the makeup, I think its the eyebrows, they appear harsh, and unnatural. She has a beautiful face, but the makeup on this occasion is not successful. The eyebrows, change the entire look of her face.

ReplyDeleteI keep studying her face and I am trying to figure out what is different. I am not at all suggesting she has had any cosmetic surgery (although young photos show a re-shaped nose). I finally figured it out I think, even though she has less of a smokey eye it appears her eyebrows are much thicker and seems to give her a difference appearance to me. Lastly I want to say that most of the events she attends or supports are always to help those in need and are not for the arts. Lastly I am not really feeling the dress!

ReplyDeleteI don't really mind a bit of surgical (or otherwise) facial enhancement, if done nicely and not too much by women who are in the limelight all the time (what is not valid for Meghan). But OK. But besides the gown being a bad choice, this whole appearance is crying loud "girlie", from the hairstyle through the makeup-free-looking makeup down to not simply holding hands where they normally are, at the side of the body, but by pulling the whole arm of the other woman over to her, as if she were an accessoire for Meghan.
