On October 4, 2024, the Duchess of Edinburgh, in her role as the Colonel of the 5th Battalion, presided over a homecoming parade for the 5th Battalion of The Rifles in Bulford, following a six-month deployment in Estonia. During the event, the Duchess inspected the Guard of Honour, delivered a speech, and chatted with members of the soldiers' families. After their deployment, 5 Rifles celebrated their return with a parade at Picton Barracks, attended by the Duchess of Edinburgh and other distinguished guests.

This dress looks lovely on Sophie. The fit and the style is perfect for her, and the slight metallic sheen of the fabric gives it a bit of 'oomph'. Her updo styles well with the look. Much prefer these shoes than what she wore the last time.

Well said! And it is really rare when I can tell something good about Erdem project... 😉

Sophie looks marvelous in this Erdem dress--it fits beautifully and is such a flattering style. She looks very polished with her French twist hair style. Her shoes are great--I love that the style seems to be moving away from the towering stilettos or at least featuring beautifully crafted mid and kitten heels. The photos of her with the 2 little boys is sweet.

I think the dresses she wears, like this one, are often too long and the beige shoes just don't suit the colors in the dress. But she is a lovely lady.

Now that Duchess Sophie is wearing fashion heels her dress looks even longer than before. The material in which the dress is made looks stiff and a bit shiny. The hemline of the dress is not looking even. There must be a lot of wind in the region where she is (in picture 5 her hair looks detached from the updo). I don't like her hair done like this, it makes her older. She has much more allure when her hair is loose. Of course making curls each time you must go out is taking time. Her jewelry is a mix that doesn't go well together. I am always surprised that a lot of royals don't see these things themselves. I suppose they look in the mirror when dressing to go out.

I don’t think a military parade has a priority on allure! Sophie is very good at dressing for the context, and in this case yes she’s chosen a pulled-back hairstyle and a formal, complex jacquard material for the military parade. I think she looks stunning - and I particularly love the very natural photo 5! She doesn’t seem to be into heavy hairspray etc and I love this approachable quality of hers (being naturally beautiful, not needing to be perfect). - Grace

      @ Grace
Not needing to be perfect that's new, since you expect other royal ladies to be perfect. However there is already an improvement; when meeting with the military in the past, Duchess Sophie always wore jackets or coats which looked like a military outfit, but was not the real thing of course. For someone who never served it is better not to wear military imitations.

Now this style at this length looks good on her. Maybe it is the flair of the skirt that makes it look less old lady. Shoes are much nicer than some she has been wearing lately

The old ladies I know don't wear these old fashion clothes any more.

would suit an evening event like 'guest of honour to the Queen Elizabeth fashion Awards' not a parade

Sophie looks great! The dress fits perfectly and I like the length as it lends an air of elegance. Sophie's updo is tres chic. The shoes are the perfect choice being more subuded with the pattern and color of the dress.

  9. Joli modèle déjà porté que j'aurais préféré un peu plus court avec des motifs fleuris sur un fond comme sur le premier mannequin !

  10. I really try to ignore the excessive length but the dress, which IS nice and does suit the Duchess really well would look so much better a few inches shorter. I don't think the beige shoes are a great match but they are 100 times better than the strange strappy things she wore with this dress on its previous outing. The up do is elegant and she looks lovely

  11. This dress looks lovely, though it is long, the overall look is perfect. It fits and sits well. Love the color of her shoes. I'm glad she didn't wear the black strappy shoes , I don't like them at all.

I like this dress in both of the colors. It looks great on Sophie and she accessorized it well.

Normally I think her dresses are always too long, but now with this beautiful Erdem dress she looks great.

I like the lines of Sophie’s dress, but not the pattern. Her earrings and necklace do not match each other, which looks odd to me. She really is quite youthful looking and lovely.

I agree, the jewellery does not harmonise, the stiff, operatic dress, however, somehow blends in with the military surroundings and creates a very special look,
    Interesting.

  17. One of my favourite rehearsals for the DOE. I like the style and the fabric. My favourite shoes for it are blue ones she wore with it in 2017. They really set off the colors in the fabric.
