  1. Quelle classe dans ce tailleur/pantalon parfait pour assister à cette cérémonie commémorative ; elle a agrafé une belle broche en or où je crois voir une pierre Lapis Lazuli ou peut-être un saphir ?!

The queen obviously chose black for reasons of protocol and the brooch is probably linked to the event. However, the shape or cut or fabric is not very flattering, but I cannot define my impression. Perhaps it is too masculine. Others might do better at nailing down the problem.

The black outfit is a bit too black for the Queen. Ladies in their eighthees look better with red, royal blue, ....

Maybe it is the pockets on the jacket and the wide pants. She looks better in a more feminine cut clothing. Perhaps some bright lipstick woild of brighten her look

    black suit fits the event.
the odd thing is her doing her son's work, she should have retired with her husband, she should only show up for family events.

She is the reigning queen and "the most valued asset" in the house.

    2. I think Queen Sofia is being of great help and support to her son. Currently King Felipe and Queen Letizia have no other family members to support them in their work and in representing Spain. Also, I believe HM is very beloved and respected in Spain so to have her step in to support her son would be natural. Janet

Very nice tailored outfit for the former queen. She is usually lost in very flowy clothes. She has kept her jewelry to a minimum which looks so much neater than when she piles everything on.

She looks lovely and appropriate for the occasion. This midnight navy colour is perfect.

  7. Its great to see her in a tailored outfit for a change, normally she is in flowing ensembles. This pantsuit looks splendid. Love the addition of the brooch, lovely against the black of her jacket.

The textured fabric gives a feminine touch to the tailored look. Seems to have been made by the same tailor of her granddaughter's white pantsuit.

  9. How wonderful to see Queen Sofia at an official duty! She is a great lady whose sense of loyalty and duty to her adopted country has never wavered. I am glad to see that King Felipe has her to support him and Queen Letizia since their daughters are young and are still actively engaged in their education and his sisters are no longer active. It must be challenging for the king and queen to handle every single engagement on the calendar. I think Queen Sofia looks wonderful here although I will say the jacket looks a bit too big or long on her or it is too boxy. The fabric is beautiful.
