Hereditary Prince Alois and Hereditary Princess Sophie of Liechtenstein announced the engagement of their daughter Princess Marie Caroline to Mr. Leopoldo Maduro Vollmer. Princess Marie Caroline was born in Grabs Hospital in Switzerland on 17 October 1996, and is the second child of Hereditary Prince Alois and Hereditary Princess Sophie. Leopoldo was born in Caracas on 28 October 1990. He now works in investment management in London. The wedding is planned for late summer next year.
Congratulations to the Hereditary Princely family. Their first child to be getting married. Can’t wait for the wedding.

Quel charmant petit couple ; j'attends de les voir le jour de leur mariage !
ردحذفWhat a beautiful dress she is wearing! 😍 I want it. — Jane
ردحذفI do not want it !
حذفIt looks like something that might be available at WalMart. Go for it!
حذفWho asked you 😛
حذفShe has a bachelor’s in fashion design from Parsons and works in fashion in England/Europe where we have no Walmart, so highly unlikely that you’ll find her pretty dress there. Fashion in Lichtenstein/ Switzerland is relaxed, quietly elegant and quite understated for the most part. I think she quite likes a bohemian take suggested by this photo and others I’ve seen of her. - Grace
حذفAt "Anon 03:39"; I was being sarcastic and since Walmart is "the largest retailer in the world" (Google if you must) I assumed most here would have heard of it. My mistake for assuming a certain level of awareness; and sense of humor.
حذفAnon 18.06, no need to google we trust you that Americans are consuming the most in the world.
حذفLovely couple!
ردحذفAgree. Know very little about the royals of Liechtenstein, but a pretty girl, a handsome guy and an engagement ring. Got to be good news.
حذفThe engagement ring looks vintage, but not in a beautiful way. Not something a young bride would wear.
ردحذفWhy not?
حذفThe ring is a classic in a beautiful way, maybe he bought what he knows she likes, that is all that counts!
حذفThat is your opinion.
حذفMost important is she likes it!
Wow! What a comment! Engagement rings are a personal choice. There are endless designs and should be individual to each bride or couple. I don't know what you think is so bad about this ring, but I can tell you it looks to be what many couples are choosing. Colored stones and classic settings are very popular.
حذفWell, simply said I do not like it. To me it does not look a new ring but a combination of old pieces of jewelry. But if she likes it, that is indeed what counts. Strange taste anyway.
حذفAnon 12.40, I would say that it fits right in to the ”old money aesthics” the younger generation are aiming for. Therefore, it is something a young bride would wear today..no matter your own personel preferences.
حذفWe really don't know if she likes it or not or if she was involved in picking it out or not. Let's assume for the sake of argument that it's not her "first choice." That, perhaps, it's something the groom just sprung on her. I've heard that the gracious thing to do is to just accept the ring - assuming the bride said "Yes" to groom's proposal of course. That doesn’t mean you have to wear it 24/7 going forward.
حذفIf the ring is not really suitable to the bride's tastes (or lifestyle - some brides don't like a ring with large stones because it interferes with their job functions; like nursing, or if there is a strong possibility that the ring will be exposed to rough handling or chemicals) then just a simple band, or a ring with imbedded small stones, can be worn on a day-to-day basis. Or, if the bride really doesn’t like the ring or wants something more modern, then she and the groom can then go pick out or create a "back-up" ring and just bring the original out for special occasions. And for those who care (even though it’s none of their business) there is a kind and loving way to explain it to people that isn't an “insult” to the original ring. And for any friends or family who can't, or refuses, to understand and accept your choices, are they really *friends* and *family*? This is your life, not theirs, and your decisions.
Really and what if the ring belonged to a beloved grandmother. emeralds from south america are very precious. Very common for European couples to choose precious stone versus diamonds.
حذفAre we sure the green ring is the engagement ring? In Europe engagement rings are not necessarily standard, and may be worn on left or right hand according to local customs which vary even within a country. - Grace
حذف@ Anon. 20:52
حذفNot the kind of engagement rings we see in the collections of famous jewellers. Does her husband to be also belong to the world of "old money" ? Normally it is he who buys the ring. Princess Marie Caroline belongs to one of the richest royal families in Europe. They were already known for their fortune before WWII.
At "Anon 03:40" I don't think they would show an up-close picture of it if it wasn't the engagement ring.
حذفAnon 18.10, the boy was born in Venezuela, yet he went to St Andrews and later University of Cambridge. His father has had executive positions in international banks. If the family has had money for 3 generations or more to be identified as ”old money”, hard to tell, but they obviously do not hang out in random crowds…
حذفI have to admit, my first question was, "Princess who?" But after a Google search for "Hereditary Prince Alois" I do recognize the bride-to-be's mother (who does not have a great sense of fashion style, imo) from various appearances at other royal events/weddings. Anyway, nice engagement ring and best wishes for them. Hopefully, there will be a big turn out of other royals at the wedding for us fashion hounds.
ردحذفNice couple, congratulations !!
ردحذفHe looks a little like Pippa’s husband !
Beautiful couple and gorgeous emerald and diamond ring! MR
ردحذفI like the dress, it has what appears a velvet bib with emvrodery. The ring is very pretty, I prefer it to the princes of wales sapphire. I wonder if it belonged to a cherished family member.
ردحذفWhat a fun couple. I do like her dress. The ring appears old but lovely. All the best (Tara)
ردحذفAccording to the Tatler, Marie Caroline studied at Parson School of Design. The prints in her dress look to be of nature or folk art. There may be a connection and emerald in the ring may have significance to the couple. Christine
ردحذفLovely couple, beautiful ring, and love and happiness just jumping off the page! Congratulations and I'm looking forward to the wedding.

Who are these people that we've never seen/heard about before?
ردحذفPrincely family of Liechtenstein? Not heard of them before? Can look them up on Wikipedia or their own site. (And who are you that I’ve not heard of before either?!…) - Jane
حذفAnon. 04:48
حذف".... people that we've never seen/heard ..... before". Maybe you never saw/heard them before, but I (we) did. Her mother and father gathered in September with other heads of state of German speaking countries in the GD of Luxembourg. They are related to Grand Duc Henri of Luxembourg, to King Philippe of Belgium, ....

حذفYou asked "who are these people that we've never seen/heard about before?"
If you take a look around Europe, you will find about 10 royal families.
Quite a lot of them, we never hear much or see photos of their day to day life.
Those that make money for the gutter press and the tabloids are presented in the media on almost a daily basis with rumors, scandals, gossip and sensation.
Take a look at the Duke of Braganza who is the claimant to the defunct Portuguese throne and head of the House of Braganza
The marriage of his daughter Infanta Maria Francisca last year was featured in NewMyRoyals.

حذفIn Europe we have 2 categories of royals. The reigning category and the non reigning ones. Since Fürst Adam of Liechtenstein is still reigning over his little country there is a little chance you hear more about him than about the Duke of Braganza.
Congratulations to Pss Marie Caroline of Liechtenstein and Leopoldo Maduro Vollmer on this happy day. Wish one could see the ring better. I love Emeralds. Now we are waiting for the happy day.

Princess Marie Caroline holds a Bachelor of Arts in design and fashion which she obtained following her studies at the Parsons School of Design in Paris and New York.
ردحذفShe lives in London with her fiancé and works in the fashion industry. (information taken from another site on the internet).
I wonder if she will design her own wedding dress or call for designs from her colleagues in the industry.
My best wishes to Princess Marie Caroline and Leopoldo.
One of my favourite Royal families along with the Portuguese Royal family of the Duke and Duchess of Braganza.
Beautiful dress, and gorgeous engagement ring.
ردحذفI agree with you. I love both the dress and engagement ring which is a little similar to mine, apart from the shape (mine is a trilliant).
حذفT
What's a "trilliant" ? You have diamonds and you have emeralds (both stones present in the engagement ring of M. Caroline). The way a diamond or other stone is cut is not always the same. For a diamond one speaks sometimes of a "brilliant" because it is the name for the way the stone is cut. For emeralds or other precious stones I don't know the names for the way they are cut.
