  1. Princess Aiko looks lovely in that pink suit, the jacket fits her well but unfortunately I find the skirt to be a little too big for her.

    2. I don't think she really has the choice to wear her skirt shorter, poor thing ...

    3. I agree but think it's the width or the size of the skirt that's the problem rather than the length. The length is okay--just.

  2. For Japanese standards this is an an upgrade, she looks great

  3. Princess Aiko looks like a nice girl. But - the costume and shoes look like something from the wardrobe of a seventy-year-old lady.

    1. She has no choice--the Imperial House has extremely strict dress codes. I would imagine had she had a choice we would see something more fashion forward. Janet

    2. Maybe she will be more happy in her later life now that she will not be the future Empress. I think the Emperor his wife and his children are controlled more than the other members of the Imperial family.

    3. "Anon 15:51" is correct. Just look at how former princess Princess Mako of Akishino dresses while moving about New York City. Even though it's casual clothing, you can still tell that she has modern day "taste" in clothing and I'm sure Princesses Aiko and Kato most likely do too (they're not living in a total vacuum). However, there are "restrictions" on what they can, and cannot, where for "work." I do admire the tailoring.

  4. De plus en plus jolie, la princesse Aiko est vraiment adorable dans les couleurs douces de son ensemble sans oublier son sourire !

  5. I agree with all the comments above, fashion wise, it's a major improvement. However, considering the event, she could have been oriented towards a "tailleur-pantalon". Apart from fashion, she looks really genuine, sincere, warm towards especially the children. It's so sad that she will not become the Empress. The throne and functions were hers. She would have been a great Empress and a wonderful role model.

  8. Lovely suit on Aiko! Good style choice and a pretty soft pink are wonderful on her. I love her engagement with the children.

  9. While better than what she has worn in the past, it is still something my grandma would wear. The Imperial Household Agency does not make it easy for the young princesses. Former Princess Mako as modernized her wardrobe since leaving the Japanese royal family. Her style is more youthful and trendy now.

    1. Hello Anon 17:01.
It would be so nice to see some recent photos of Princess Mako (Mrs. Kei Komuro) with her life in New York.
What a change she has gone through from controlled fashion rules in the Imperial Palace to the “freedom” fashion of New York.
I wish her continued courage with her new life.

  10. This is a lovely princess. I like the suit, tailoring perfection, i just wish it would be a better colour on her. Seems to me it washes her out, not sure if deeper jewel tones rather than pastels would be better colours for her. I get the impression she has a nanny that makes her decisions on how to dress.

  11. She presents herself very well with a confident, friendly manner. I think the colour of the suit flatters her, and the style is not too bad. I agree, the skirt seems a bit big. (V.M.)

  12. Fashion wise, she looks very smart and stylish, this pale pink suit is very becoming. I particularly like the jacket with the white trim. She is very engaging and happy. She has a real confidence I never noticed before. What a treasure she is, lovely to see her.

  13. Princess Aiko is a pretty young woman. I think if she was allowed to have a suit like this tailored to flatter her shape she could be a very striking woman.

  17. She is lovely, the suit is perfect for the occasion. I have to remind myself that she is there for her country and this is the style they expect from their royals. She has a very engaging smile like her parents. An asset to her country

  18. What a joy to see these photos.
The princess is maturing into a beautiful young lady.
Perhaps it's just me but I see a lot of resemblance to her mum (Empress Masako)

  19. Beautiful young woman, lovely smile. The pale pink suit is modern for the strict dress codes the women are to follow and in time, she will hopefully help push forward a relaxing of the time era of clothing from being 'stuck in the 1960's-1970's era' fashion to something more personal, and current with the time. However, their traditional clothing for specific events is stunning in design, color, and mastery of sewing. Emma
