    4. Her son Prince Gabriel was there also, does that not make them her men, it was the last time I checked but I was bad with math so I may be wrong!

    6. I understand what Anon. 23:14 means with "her men". She/he means her husband the king and her son prince Gabriel.

    7. Sorry ! Philippe is the king of the Belgians and NOT "king of Belgium" !!

    8. You are right : the correct title of King Philippe is King of the Belgians, but abroad people do not know that and since we are the only country (as far as I know) with this particularity, he is called the King of Belgium just like the other kings in Europe are called King of (followed by the name of their country).

Queen Mathilde does not have "many diamond drop earrings". As far as I know, she has different drop earrings but they are not entirely with diamonds. She has also her wedding earrings with diamonds and pearls, I think , but they are not drop earrings. She has a pair of diamond earrings which she wears with the 9 provinces tiara but they are not drop earrings. The drop earrings she has are mostly a combination of diamonds with kunzite, quartz, emerald, .... There is one pair of diamond drop earrings which are used regularly and recently by CP Elisabeth. I know that queen Mathilde bought a few beautiful pieces of jewelry during the last years at auctions, because as you know the Belgian Royals don't have as much jewelry as the Dutch or the British Royals and she has 2 daughters who are glad to borrow now and then from their "maman".

  5. Mathilde's gown is beautiful - the deep blue velvet, the embellishments, and the jewellery, but it truly doesn't fit her very well around her high waist area. Mathilde alway looks stunning in long column dresses and this one could have been amazing. She still looks good in it, but the fit just misses the mark slightly.
On the other hand, I really love her updo. Very elegant.

Madam Macron looks fantastic. I love everything I see and cannot find fault with her gown and the way it fits her. She is the belle of her own ball.

  7. It is tiara and jewels time again folks, I get excited at this time of the years when there are state visits, charity events and other celebrations and we get to see the royals wear their Sunday best. You can always tell when the Macrons host a state visit or attend one that there will most likely be glitz and glamour and this occasion is no exception. Both Queen Mathilde and Mrs. Macron look so beautiful in their gowns. Queen Mathilde's deep rich blue gown has this beautiful luster about it and Mrs. Macrons with the metallic lace at the top is stunning and I always like to see her hair done up. You made me smile ladies!

  9. Queen Mathilde and Madame Macron are both dressed very beautifully. Just like in the morning (red ensemble), Queen Mathilde is again wearing a dress by Dior. This is real diplomatic dressing. There is a beautiful picture of Queen Mathilde on another site where one can see her navy velvet dress from the back. It has a train, very regal. The earrings she is wearing are new, perhaps we will hear in the near future the history behind it.
Very sweet of Monsieur le Président and Madame Macron to invite Prince Gabriel too. He is staying for 5 months in France as a student of the Belgian Royal Military Academy taking part in an Erasmus exchange project for students. He is following courses in English at the Académie militaire de Saint-Cyr Coëtquidan (France). I saw a video of him jumping out of an air-plane with a parachute.
It is the custom in Belgium that when the King and Queen are going on state visit in a country with a president, the queen does not wear a tiara. Instead she wore her diamond butterfly brooch at the back of her updo.

  10. Mathilde is elegant and has an excellent updo that I would wish to see on her more frequently. And now comparing the two somewhat similar gowns, I think if Mathilde's decorative element on the upper part of the gown, around her neck, had been extended to her arms, similarly like this is the case on Ms Macron's gown, then, with somewhat broader decorative elements her quite thin upper body would have been beautifully balanced against everything else below the waistline. The belt draws attention to this dysbalance in a somewhat clumsy way. Ms Macron looks fabulous, dress and updo and everything is feminine elegance at its best. This is no small feat, given that she usually has a hard competition with all those younger women surrounding her - and more than once she proves to be the "winner", simply because she has an excellent taste.

  11. What kind of heels is Mathilde wearing to be this much taller than Phillippe?

    1. @ Vanessa
If Queen Mathilde is wearing flats she is as tall as King Philippe. When she is wearing heels she looks taller. There is also something I noticed about the king. He is suffering of something, back pain, hip pain, I don't know but when he has to stand right-up I have the impression he cannot do that anymore like when he was younger.

  14. Both ladies looks stunning! I love both gowns--the gowns are elegant and the lace design features are beautiful. Queen Mathilde's deep blue velvet is just lovely on her and I love her updo with the brooch used as a hair ornament. Mme Macron black gown is sophisticated and sleek, fitting her like a glove. I love seeing Emmanuel joining his parents for the dinner! How thoughtful of the Macrons to include him since he is currently in school in Paris--what a handsome young man in his evening clothes. The King and President Macron look quite debonaire in their tuxedos.

It is Prince Gabriel who is studying in France for 5 months at the Académie Militaire of Saint-Cyr. Not Prince Emmanuel who is also studying abroad, if I remember correctly he is in Spain.

  15. The Queen looks superb, very regal and so elegant. Her up style hair is perfection, love the hair accessory at the back of her hair. This gown is gorgeous. Mrs. Macron, looks stunning, love her small evening clutch. She has such style, very chic. Prime Minister Macron looks good in his suit, good attire, perfect fit. The King looks equally well groomed. What a fine looking and attractive man / Prince Gabriel is. So tall, such a asset. His suit looks fabulous.
