On October 11, 2024, King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark visited Holstebro in celebration of the city's 750th anniversary. Holstebro is the largest town in Holstebro Municipality in Mid Jutland. The town was first mentioned in a letter from Bishop Thyge of Ribe in 1274. Since February, the anniversary has been marked by more than 750 cultural events. The festivities culminated with the King and Queen's visit, which began with an official welcome at the town hall followed by lunch.

I love the color combination of the burgundy dress and what looks like a burnt orange coat. Boots are a good choice since she is wearing that yummy coat. I don't mind the length as much as I usually do because of the slit in the skirt. Unfortunately, it is not visible with the coat over it.

DeleteHello Anonymous, I also don't like her hair color, indeed, it looks a bit too red for my liking, however there is a huge difference between expressing your opinions and writing "awful". Putting a label to someone is what makes/made "everyone" jump into Mary's defense. We are not a sanctimonious commenters, we just enjoy fashion, royals and appreciate well elaborated comments even if the comments are different than your own opinion.

Stating that her hair looks "awful" (which is a very strong word) without context for your opinion makes you sound hateful. There is far too much hate on this blog and the reactions are justified and have nothing to do with being sanctimonious or "in love" with Mary. It is merely a desire for those commenting to be polite and have the courtesy to explain their opinions. When you finally did explain yourself, you were ill-mannered and insulting to your fellow commenters. It could be argued that your strongly worded opinion, as unclear as it was, makes you the sanctimonious one here. Your position is clearly in the minority.
DeleteI love the reddish undertone. Afterall, she is Scottish, and I think it is stunning next to her skin tone. Anybody can be a boring brunette like yourself "Anonymous." Only a choice few can pull off gorgeous copper locks like Queen Mary.

DeleteThis dress is not a typical length. Having a coat that long would look ridiculous, unless it is an opera coat, which are usually loose so they don't crush the gown and are worn in the evening. As long as these longer dresses are going to be worn, we need to accept the fact that women aren't going to be able to buy a wardrobe of coats in different lengths and colors.
DeleteI agree about all points but a special mention for the headband which is lovely and matches so well. While I agree with Anon 16 09 that a longer coat would not look right, perhaps a shorter dress with this coat is the answer!

ReplyDeleteDress and boots match in colour but I´m not sure they go together stylewise. The dress is light and floaty, the boots look wintery. The dress looks much better on the model with sandals, or on Mary with pumps.
And then the orange coat? A missmatch in colour AND style, and I really don´t like the dress hanging below the coat´s hem.

Here in Scandinavia you see many women wearing this kind of dress with boots when it gets chilly. It's practical, warm and gives you a chance to wear a summery dress longer in the fall when you accessorize with warm boots etc./Grace

DeleteWow! Queen Mary looks great here--and I am not a fan of orange. She is pulling off this mix of fall shades that I would not thought to have put together. I love this Saloni dress and am glad to see her wearing it again.

DeleteWhat an unnecessary comment! Anon 10:04 is correct. Mary chose to enter this life, Frederik was forced. Luckily for the Danish people, Mary appears to enjoy her work. It can't be easy for anyone born into a senior royal role to never be able to do what they want to do with their life.

In a documentary about him called " MY WAY" he stated that he was so happy when he met Mary and how she knew how to complete a man and that they decided early on how they wanted to rein and it would be different than the way his Mother did things as Queen! He now is confident and happy to have her by his side!!!

I haven't seen "My Way", but if the words are coming out of his mouth, and it sounds like they were, who are we to question it? All of this started because Anon 8:12 said something that was unkind and unnecessary to what should have been a fashion critique. Attacking another commenter about what was said in a documentary is aggressive. The status of their marriage is none of our business and opinions about their personal lives are instigating discord.

Queen Mary looked fabulous....as always....what an excitement she brings to every event.....so beloved in Denmark even though she is from the islands off Australia...she is a jewel.

ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of this autumn toned colour combo. The coat and dress are very nice independent of each other. Not a fan of the long dress under short coat look unless the coat is shorter than knee length. I find it hard to get the long dress/short coat look right. The spiky boots remind of the ones I wore in the late 1970s, which was a good place to leave them. The hairband? Not disgusting but I don't find the puffy headbands add anything to a look.

ReplyDeleteQM looks absolutely stunning. Loved her previous haircolor and her reddish haircolor now. Perfect for autumn. The combination of burned orange and dark burgundy is gorgeous. Her coat is perfect and I love her dress as well. Flower dresses can appear oldfashioned but not this dress. Also like her accessories. So to me she looks picture perfect.
