    1. All shades of blue are Camilla’s favourite colour I think

  4. Charles looks relaxed and engaged in these pictures. I wonder what the significance of the fabric around his waist is. I like the colors.

    1. Hello Royal Watcher:
King Charles is wearing around his waist what I think is called a cummerband.
Maybe it is the Somoanian adaptation of a cummerband or just part of their traditional men’s clothing.
Two years ago my grandson had a summer job in a posh hotel as a commis de salle (a young waiter doing his training).
Part of his uniform was a tartan cummerband worn with a waistcoat and black trousers.
      He looked very smart.
I think men still wear them (mainly in silk) for black tie dinners.

    2. I think it is a cummerbund as well. It appears to be pleated, as cummerbunds usually are.

  5. Camilla's constant uniform is an embarrassment! she does not even try!
    i like Charles's traditional shirt

    1. I disagree, Camilla looks good in this style. And it's not just my opinion, most of the people in the discussion rate her outfit positively.

    2. Hmm! And are YOU anywhere near her age of 77? It would be kind to try to say something positive, respectfully. The other day someone grumbled about her thick socks. Well, physical difficulties come with age and the various ways to cope with them are not always things of beauty.

    3. QC is very well and appropriately dressed for the occasion and the climate. The color suits her, the proportions are pleasing and the vertical lines streamline her and make her attire festive. She definetely was preparing hard for this visit, exaustive as it is, and the effort payed well. You just don't like her, but this should be discussed somewhere else. KC actually looks quite cute is this shirt - it resembles pilot's uniform of a local airline in the tropics.

    4. I wouldn’t say her uniform is an embarrassment. It is comfortable and is not making a fashion statement. This is no different than Queen Elizabeth wearing her signature dress, coat, hat ensemble. I try to find the beauty in the embellishments and colours and how well it fits.

    5. I think, contrary to Anon16:58, that Queen Camilla does make an effort and she dressed quite nicely, appropriately, and befitting the climate on this tour. I fail to see anything embarrassing in the way she dressed. Might it be that you are the same Anon person always requesting her to wear a hat after sunset? If so, you're greatly mistaken on dresscodes anyway.

    6. I, too, have to disagree. Camilla is aware of the style that compliments her body type and wears that, and there is nothing wrong with that. There is consistency in the placement of the seams, yes, but that is not a uniform. Christine

    7. I get the feeling that Anon 16:58 does not like Queen Camilla. The comment is quite mean-spirited. The Queen does try--it is obvious she tries. She is always beautifully attired and has found a style of dress that is flattering to her as well as comfortable. Her uniform as this poster calls it is appropriate for the occasion as well as the climate. Janet

    8. Agree with you Marina 17:57.
Camilla is appropriately dressed for the occasion and the climate.
Given that she is not a fashionista and has only recently changed from her horses and hounds’ life to being a royal figurehead, I think she warrants praise and not criticism.

    9. If the criticism is that Camilla doesn't vary her wardrobe much, that would be true. She has a couple of signature looks, and she modifies them slightly. Given that she was never one much for fashion, it is no surprise that she is in one of her typical designs. That does not mean that she is not dressed appropriately for this reception. I love the palazzo style pants. They are an adventurous choice for someone that would rather be dressed in jeans and a blazer -- which she looks fabulous in!

  6. Queen Camilla's kaftan is less better than the pink one and the white one. Again the shoulders which are too square and again another clutch. I think she brought her complete collection of clutches, handbags, purses, etc. in white, silver and gold. The way the pants are finished at the hemline look too much like pajama's. The pants are really too wide.
King Charles is wearing another ethnic embellished shirt. The contrast with Camilla's outfit couldn't be bigger.

    1. Nice to see the king in a more relaxed shirt. The suits must be terribly hot in this climate.

    2. I like seeing Charles dressed something other than a suit. It is very obvious that he doesn't wear short sleeves. I don't know if I have ever seen a farmer tan that low on the arm before.

  7. So royal splendour is truly gone to be replaced with this casual attire. All very well in its own way but underwhelming! There are so few occasions left for the British royal family to dress up and the CHOG banquet used to be one of them but its now fallen by the wayside too!

    1. The dresscode for the dinner is set by the host country. They apparently opted for traditional Samoan dress for men and cocktail, leaning on black tie, wear for women. Understandable given the tropical setting. One might get a different picture next time, depending on where it will be held.

  8. I think Camilla looks wonderful. I like that she always looks elegant and comfortable in her outfits. Even if she sticks with the same shape to her outfits, it suits her very well. I also think Charles looks more relaxed and comfortable especially in her presence.

  10. Very pretty outfit on Camilla. An internet search of definitions states that the difference between a caftan and a tunic is a caftan has larger sleeves! Pretty fabric, pretty blue color. Charles looks like he's doing well w/the cancer treatments. Kudos to his medical team. Christine

Paloma.

Yes Camilla has found a "uniform" but so did QE and Q Beatrix and I find it only understandable.
And this particular "uniform" looks fantastic, lovely color, nice movement to the skirt and the fabric seems appropriate for the weather.

    2. Thanks @Luna. For the moment, I can only "pop" in from time to time as family commitments need a lot of my time. Mother-in-law problems etc.etc. And when I do "pop" in it will be nice to read your coments.
      Keep smiling. 😀
