-Dorothe-

  2. The Empress looks stunning and elegant. I expect no less when she wears pantsuit. This style really suits her as she has long striding legs.

Fashion aside, I was going to say the other days how emotional I was seeing Princess Aiko so grown up and has become a beautiful young lady. And how healthy and happy Masako looks these days. I used to followed Masako and the Japanese Imperial Family news on an old forum called LesTribunesRoyales (is it still active?). There was not much to update about as Masako was largely absent from the royal scenes due to her severe depression and the rest of them aren’t as interesting as Masako so the discussion faded away. Aiko as well as her mother was cruelly bullied online. It was depressing. The girl must have been 5-6 years old at the time. She used to look a lot like her father, a splitting image that was joked about hurtfully. But genetics work wonder and she now looks very much like her mother.

Things seem to have turned around. Masako and her daugther seem to have regained strength and become happy again. Could be because her caring husband has become the Emperor. They don’t look vulnerable and depressed as they used to years ago. It’s like seeing a happy ending happened to badly wounded people I deeply care about. Anyways, it warms my heart.

I also remember those grim days for Masako and Aiko. I recall that Masako had given up so much for her marriage that it made her depression even sadder to me. Then that her daughter was cruelly treated--I cannot imagine how awful things were for her. I loved that she felt secure enough with the Dutch royals that she attended a big event in the Netherlands--and she looked so beautiful. I am right there with you that it is wonderful that both mother and daughter have emerged strong and beautiful.

I always love seeing Empress Masako and Princess Aiko; I am sure the scrutiny they both were under for years, and ever-swirling rumors must have been stressful for them, although I like to think that perhaps they were unaware of much of that…we cannot know. I’ve always thought that Masako is a beautiful lady. I agree that Aiko does indeed resemble her mother, and I also think that she was an adorable little girl. I am not among those who resent the tradition of male primogeniture. I suspect that Aiko’s parents are both glad their daughter will not be burdened with the heavy role that her cousin, Prince Hisahito, will assume one day. (And btw, I look forward to seeing more of Hisahito as he begins to take more of a public role. He is an extremely good-looking young man, and I hope that he will be much-loved by the Japanese people.) — Jane

Préférence pour le tailleur-pantalon, plus moderne. Et c'est un joli beige. Paloma.

Seeing the first pictures with the empress wearing this wonderful camel pants suit I thought this makes her so elegant and young. Afterwards in the purple suit ( however nice colour) but the model so old fashioned and sorry to say boring.

  5. OMG, this is so elegant! The "tailleur-pantalon" beige is so exquisite, with the matching purse and shoes! It's a joy to see Masako so radiant!

This lady makes both a pant and skirt suit look fabulous. Very classy

E.Masako is the picture of poise and elegance in the cafe-au-lait trouser outfit. Just beautiful. A sharp contrast to the blue suit and hat, which looks a little drab. Had the skirt been sightly shorter, and both the skirt and thetop more fitted, I think the outfit would have looked better.

Masako's beige costume is great. But would suggest breaking the monochromaticity with, for example, a different color of blouse and handbag (chocolate brown )
I liked the blue costume until I saw the skirt. Simply shapeless. Yes, I know, strict rules of the Imperial Court etc. etc.. But perhaps women members of the Japanese imperial family could muster up the courage and force the court stylists to make the skirts have a feminine shape and not resemble sacks for disguising every woman curve.

      @ Stephanie
Monochromatic style is already fashion for at least 2 years now. It took that long before the Imperial court gave permission to the Empress so that she finally could wear a beautiful pant suit and handbag like her royal colleagues in the Western world.

  10. Superbes les premières photos où nous voyons le couple impérial vêtu sobrement mais avec goût ; Masako porte avec élégance ce costume camel dont la veste au boutonnage croisé ; j'aime bien voir son époux sans cravate !

Masako in the camel suit and higher then normal heels is very elegant, taller than her husband. When she then puts back on her more common uniform of lower heels and the hat brim playing a “trompe-l'œil” to make her appear shorter than her husband?… some of her naturally freer elegance seems diminished. I’ve often wondered about that hat style and whether it’s deliberately placed so and in these two sets of outfits it does look that way, no? - Grace

I agree about her hat style choice--it's to reduce the height disparity between the spouses. For some reason I don't think Naruhito cares but evidently someone does so Masako wears that style of hat. I used to think it was Masako but now I don't think it's her either--she wears higher heels with her trouser suits. Janet

Empress Masako Looks fabulous in this camel pants suit! She looks elegant and modern and the color suits her too. The blue dress suit is a gorgeous color for her and the design details on the jacket is beautiful. If only she could shorten the skirt but I know she can't. And then we have the hat--I know she can wear other styles that are much flattering than the style she prefers. Oh well--she is beautiful in the color. I also love how the Emperor is wearing a color of tie that matches her suit.

I agree with Grace. Masako looks quite chic in her camel pants suit, much more modern style and I love it on her. Sadly those hats always tend to make her look for matronly and a bit frumpy , and she certainly is not. But Grace was more eloquent in her wording.

The Empress is a lady of great grace and elegance.
The trouser suit, the color and accessories are perfect on her.
I love how our royal ladies do their own take on their ‘business suits’
The Empress I find has discovered how loved and admired she is.I know when they visited the UK there was a huge warm welcome from royals and citizens alike.I hope this has bolstered her confidence! Its nothing short of what she deserves.

  17. Oh, the camel colored pantsuit, perfection! Fit and cut of pantsuit suits her beautifully. I particularly like the length of her jacket. Her accessories are a splendid color. Her necklace is a lovely addition
The blue ensemble equally lovely, the pearl necklace, perfect finishing touch.
