It looks like QM has had the tiara opened up,to suit her head.It sits more like a tiara rather than the coronet style she wore in Norway. It really suits her.It reminds me of the Cambridge Lovers Knot tiara. Both works of beauty.
I was hoping for one of QM gowns that we haven’t seen for a while,or maybe even a new gown. But,she went with the ODR skirt she wore at the last Icelandic state visit!Which was a lovely gesture.
PB as always is impeccable in her choice of gown and jewels.
The President looked lovely in her gold Jenny Packham gown.

  2. Queen Mary, looks superb. Love, love! her choice of jewels. Perfect for the Queen, she really knows how to put it together and make it work, really well. The gown is gorgeous, she has had the skirt of her gown reworked, and this looks excellent. Its wonderful to see her tinker with her gowns, to give a different look, without buying another gown. Her navy evening clutch, lovely and the navy shoes, perfection. Princess Bene, wow! she looks incredible, so elegant. This gown is perfect for her, fits beautifully, suits her perfectly. Love her choice of jewels as well.
The lady in the blush pink ensemble, shaking the King's hand, this gown looks stunning, from what I can see. Would love to see a frontal pic, of her.

All the ladies look lovely. I'm getting the impression that a fair number of the european elected leaders are women; Iceland, Switzerland, and we've seen a few others recently. Benedikte always looks great in her classic choices. Chris L.

  4. The first incoming state visit for King Frederik and Queen Mary how exciting!!!! Queen Mary looks absolutely lovely and very regal. I believe both her top and skirt have been in her collection for years, and now styled together it definitely works. Her hair styled with the pearl poire tiara is stunning. Her whole look tonight is 10/10!

Princess Benedikte looks lovely here, always a joy to see here. I'm glad to see her supporting her nephew in various events.

Last but not least I really like President Tomasdottir's dress. The dress has a glittery fabric which makes her sparkle. Her look tonight is simple but pretty.

Again Mary looks best in darker colors and the off the shoulder, navy blue gown is lovely on her. I like the sparkly top but not so sure about the ruffled bottom but it probably looks much better in motion. It’s good to see her in a different tiara and this one (sorry, don’t know the name) is a perfect combination and balance of diamonds and pearls. Benedikte is, as always, classy and elegant and the light blue is a beautiful color for her. Madame President’s gorgeous, sparkly, gold gown suits her figure and I like her simple but classic hairstyle.

The dress is very pretty.I like the tiara;diamonds and pearls. The necklace looks like rough diamonds or crystals a bit lack lustre.Diamonds that don't sparkle with a rainbow of colour don't look so nice.Brown shoes with a pale blue dress look a bit ordinary.I do like the gold sparkly dress. The King bowing his head with a smile;he is a character.I hope Queen Margrethe is okay we haven't seen her for a while.(Tara)

    1. I agree with you about the diamonds not having that lackluster but back in the day they usually were rose cut diamonds. Today we have brilliant cut diamonds that really bedazzle!

Paloma.

Princess Benedikte = sheer elegance, Queen Mary’s outfit spoilt by the off the shoulder top, Madame President’s outfit glitzy but rather shapeless. Best outfit is the apricot dress of the lady bowing to King Frederik in the 7th picture

The lady in apricot dress seems to be Denmark's Prime minister Mette Frederiksen. And agree, her dress is lovely and well fitting.

Do so agree that the off shoulder of the gown spoils it. Benedikte smashing! Wonderful jewelry; the QM crown reminds me of the favourite one of princess Diana also worn a lot bij PoW

  9. The Pearls, the diamonds, the dress. I love how Queen Mary is putting her own stamp on the jewels and not wearing the pearl poire tiara as a parure the way Queen Margrethe usually did and instead pairing it with a diamond necklace and earrings. It looks similar to the way the Princess of Wale pairs the lovers knot tiara with a diamond necklace and earrings, very creative but would you expect anything less from the iconic Mary, Lastly has anyone noticed that deadeggs has not posted a comment in a while, I hope that she is ok and I miss her funny and creative posts. Let me hear from you deadeggs, I miss you!

-Dorothe-

This looks like the top from the dress Mary wore to the Bambi Awards years ago. The fact I still remember to which award show she wore it, means I really loved the dress. Although I do like that she is creative with gala dresses, and I even like the combination with this skirt, I do hope she kept the skirt part because I liked the original better.

She also rocks this tiara and the jewelry, Mary looks fantastic. I must say also the president of Iceland looks fantastic! Marvellous dress, I dare to say she even looks regal. Princess Benedict is her elegant self, she is also wearing a lovely gala dress. The colour suits her a lot. All other guests seem to have dressed very well also. Fantastic to watch!

The skirt is actually a rewear. I agree it should not have been mixed with the the top of another set.

    3. Actually I don't think this is a new skirt at all.
It looks very much like the one that she wore here in Australia way back in 2005.

Princess Benedikte is lovely, minus the shoes. Not a fan of Queen Mary's skirt combined with the top, there's something about the different cut that doesn't match.

Paloma.
