On Saturday, September 14, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the George Zajfen Tennis Tournament at Los Angeles Tennis Club in Los Angeles. The event benefited the Alliance for Children's Rights in honor of Kelly McKee Zajfen's late son, George Zajfen. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Archewell Foundation was the presenting sponsor. The Alliance for Children’s Rights is a nonprofit legal services organization that protects the rights of impoverished, abused and neglected children in Los Angeles County.
Giuliva Heritage Edda Dress
I definitely think that the dress looks better on The sweet Duchess of Sussex than the model. The dress looks to washed out on the model to be fully appreciated!
ReplyDeleteIndeed.
DeleteI'd rather see the non royal's from Greece, Germany, Poland, and all the other countries, before Rachel and Henry. Where is The Princess Royal, Anne?? She's the hardest working ROYAL in the UK, and someone thinks this couple who 'stepped away' should be featured on this blog? Wonder how much they paid to get on here? dd
ReplyDeleteThe blog writer is the one who thinks she would like to cover Harry and Meghan on this blog. Helen has every right to cover whomsoever she chooses. If you want a blog about Anne you could start one yourself. At least Harry and Meghan ( note the names they choose to go by) stepped away rather than being rather unceremoniously removed by their national government as is the case with the Greek ‘royals’. LRB
Delete@ dd. You’ve obviously tuned in to the wrong blog.
DeleteI’ll happily close the door for you when you leave.
Then scroll by...can't we stop this nonsense.
DeleteThen don’t open this post. As simple as that.
Delete-B.
very true
DeleteAnon 03:31 WOW. You mean that the blog owner is bribed?
Delete/AA
I think the author's intention here is to emphasize a charity event. Because when Harry and Meghan are featured in an article on this blog, the event is often a charity event they attended. Maybe I’m wrong, but that’s my impression.
DeleteI too prefer to see here working royals out doing interesting things - or if we are going to see nonroyals, to see other than Meghan and Harry. This is because the Meghan posts tend to bring out the worst of the commenters, and it’s not nearly as fun to be here as when people are making interesting observations on fashion with kind discussion. For this expensive short Meghan dress, I would prefer she put the money to the charity and arrive more quietly in nice shorts and tennis shoes. The dress is reminiscent of the 60s and it’s not that she doesn’t look good, it just appears that she may wear it to stand out, when the stated focus is to support the charity - Grace
DeleteAnonymous 03:31, your post is offensive. Stating that the blog administrator is paid by anyone she chooses to cover on HER OWN BLOG is insulting. And, not that Helen needs defending, but The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are royal. They choose not to use their HRH but still have it. Harry is the son of the King and that will never change. Their children, Archie and Lilibet, are Prince and Princess as grandchildren of the King.
DeleteGood grief! It's such a simple looking dress. How can anyone say that she's wearing it to stand out??? Some people must really be scraping the bottom of the barrel to find something - anything - negative to say about Meghan. And IF she stands out merely by wearing a very simple dress, isn't that the best way to stand out? Nothing wrong with simplicity and style to catch the public's eye. And how do you know what she did or didn't donate to the charity to suggest that she should have spent less on her clothes and worn shorts and a tennis shoes instead??? Good lord...SMH
Delete- Anon 9:13
Anon 9:13, You’re right when you say the dress is “scraping the (royal) bottom”, literally. A few extra inches of material wouldn’t have gone astray. Hope she didn’t have to bend down for anything during the day. (Bob)
DeleteDear Bob, Anon 9:13 DID NOT say "the dress is “scraping the (royal) bottom"". The comment was complimentary toward Meghan's dress, and calling out the people, yourself included since you rewrote and half quoted Anon 9:13, that will say any negative thing about Meghan just to be spiteful. That makes you part of the problem. To quote you, "My opinion is that these posts raise the nastiest comments we see here and that it would remain more peaceful and kind if either (1) the blog did not post Sussex photos or (2) Sussex aficionados could focus (as this commenter has) on fashion rather than the need to win and personal meanness and bullying, which ironically the Sussexes campaign against. (Bob)" from:
Deletehttps://www.newmyroyals.com/2024/08/the-duke-and-duchess-of-sussex-arrived.html
I wish you had taken your own advice and not stooped to antics like misquoting another commenter to help you cobble together an unkind comment. If your comments only focused on fashion, you would not have the need to label/name-call the people that write anything positive. This isn't the first time you have done that (Sussex aficionados, Defenders of the Sussexes.)
Thanks Anon 9:13
DeleteHello Bob. 20:27
DeleteNow let’s keep some decorum in this blog.
Let’s not embarrass Helen.
You know, we are dealing with “royal” ladies here.
Even if I go back in history, I have never known a “royal” lady to allow her knickers to be seen in public.
Dirty washing…….yes, but that’s another story for another day.
p.s. I wonder how many comments I'll get telling me that Duchess Meghan is not royal, working royal etc.??
Oh Bob. looks like you’ve sinned.
DeleteMaybe your innuendo about short skirts, pants etc has not been understood as you would have liked it to have been.
If you write 100 times “I am a Sussex aficionado” and send it to Helen, I’m sure she'll put the clock back to zero. She’s always kind to her bloggers. Bless her heart.
Courage Bob. I for one, look forward to reading more of your helpful comments and suggestions for the royal ladies.
P.E.R.F.E.C.T.I.O.N !!!
ReplyDeleteTake another look!
DeleteYou seem to have low bars for 'Perfection'.
DeleteGosh, Meghan and Harry look great. Meghan in her signature simple chic and Harry debonair casual. Also a good cause to bring attention to.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you anon 05:14.
Delete@Anon 05:14 I agree 100%

Why all these 'photographer-friendly' hugs and smiles? Irene
ReplyDeleteBetter than running through fields followed by lots of videographers . Meghan has clearly and often stated she is a hugger. So am I … I hug people I want to feel welcomed. What is wrong with that? LRB
DeleteBetter hugging than being belligerent!
DeleteFor a second i thought that was Kate in green, oh in another universe.
ReplyDeleteMeghan's dress- speechless!
Ms
Nice to see the Sussexes out and about and supporting a good cause.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Prince Harry.
Duchess Megan's dress and accessories are very “Duchess Meghan”.
GIULIVA HERITAGE is a very young-ist Italian fashion brand (less than 10 years old) created for adapting traditional and quality Italian men’s tailoring for women.
No girly frills, no flowers, no bows, just lots of clean lines, discreet elegance, and high end sophistication.
It’s Italian all the way to the finishing line.
This is a good fashion house for Princess Charlene and those who are adepts to the monochromatic look.

On another site they say that the shoes are from Aquazurra and the handbag by Carolina Herrera.
DeleteMeghan is old to wear a so short dress!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I like the simplicity of the dress I do agree with you that it looks quite childish now and it would have been perfect about 3 inches longer
Delete@Anon 8:57
DeleteDuchess Meghan is too old at 43 years of age to wear a short dress …OH!
See the attached link for Princess Mabel of the Netherlands who, at 56 years of age, wore a short dress in June 2023.
And it wasn’t to a sporting event, it was to a formal dinner in Amsterdam.

You are exactly right deadeggs and if anonymous 08:57 is freaking about Meghan's hemline I wonder what she thinks about France's first lady. Although Brigitte who is in her mid 60's is not a royal she is always featured here. Just using her as an example because she is proof you can look good at any age if you have good legs!
Delete"One of the inspiring quotes from Coco Chanel in the 1920’s was that the skirt should cover the unsightly kneecap. That was the length she considered the most flattering …
DeleteShe would probably turn in her grave if she saw the micro length of skirts coming out of her fashion house, which still bears her name, today.
She saw women's knees are extremely ugly, and said the best thing to do was to hide them." {deadeggs14/6/23 20:19}
Hello FITZHUGH . In fact, Madame Macron is 71 years old.
DeleteSorry but I must correct you - she is Royal.
She is the Queen of Casual--chic 😀
France's First Lady is 71 and still has good legs
DeleteYes, not only is she 71 years old, she has 7 grandchildren.
DeleteA super nanny 😁
@annonymous 05:30 Coco Chanel was born in 1883. Times a changing!
Delete@FITZHUGH, read what I quoted. I quoted a comment left by @deadeggs. I’ve never been interested in Coco Chanel, nor am I familiar with any of her quotes.

Hello Madame Deadeggs here (Madame De’AdeGgs)
DeleteI wrote in NewMyRoyals about one year ago (deadeggs 14/6/23 20:19) a famous quote made by Coco Chanel in the 1920’s regarding short skirts and knees.
It appears Anon 05:30 remembered my comment and saw some connection to the subject of the short dresses worn by Duchess Meghan and Princess Mabel.
Yes, the comment about Coco Chanel was made by me (one year ago)
I admire your good memory Anon 05:30.
Meghan Duchess of Sussex looks messy and overdone and silly. The dress is too short and the shoes are inappropriate on a tennis court. Seems to be misguided promotion.

Delete-B.
Hello Virginia. Duchess Meghan's dress too short at the age of 43?
DeletePrincess Mabel of the Netherlands obviouslt doesn't think 56 is too old to wear a short dress to a formal evening event (June 2023)
https://www.newmyroyals.com/2023/06/dutch-princess-mabel-attended-amsterdam.html
Anon 10.15 & 10.17, yes still inappropriate. She looks like she just stepped of a party boat in St Tropez.
DeleteUn peu plus de rondeurs conviendraient à merveille à Meghan mais elle est quand même bien belle dans cette robe ; son cher et tendre époux est vêtu chic décontracté !
ReplyDeleteMeghan is stunning. Perfect for the occasion.
ReplyDeleteNo wonder Harry always look so happy. He's having a wonderful family, great life and he is FREE.
ReplyDeleteI like the Dutchess dress. Really nice.
/AA
Well, „always looks happy“? Not at all…
DeleteClueless and tone deaf as always
ReplyDeleteIf you are going to make such a nasty comment can you at least elaborate? I can see nothing either clueless or tone deaf about her outfit compared to others around her. LRB
Delete@Anon 12:16 I suspect that you don't know the meaning of either 'clueless' or 'tone deaf', further exemplified by the fact that you offer neither context nor solution. Perhaps you just like the sound of those terms rolling off your tongue, and have been longing to use them, even in an utterly nonsensical way.
Delete- Anon 9:13
@Anon 9:13. When I read Anon 12:16's comment, I thought she was talking about herself. That would make sense, wouldn't it? Thank you for standing strong.
DeleteI am all about clean lines. But I must say I find this dress underwhelming. The cut - or should I say not existing cut - reminds me of the sleveless flower printed cotton housedresses my mother wore when doing household chores on a hot day in the sixties. And it goes by 1250.- Euros 😮 This would have been a good time to go with a more casual sports/tennis related outfit, paired with white sneakers. Just my opinion. Getting tired of the bare shoulders and neckholder dresses. When you see them each and every time, no matter what the event is, it is getting boring.
ReplyDeleteYour comment is interesting. The very same thing could be said about Kate wearing the same style, over and over again. She even buys the same dress in multiple colors. Again, we know we will see Sophie in ankle-grazing dresses. I hope you are this critical of others.
DeleteYou find this dress underwhelming due to its simple, clean lines. If she had worn anything with a more elaborate design, you would have said she was trying to get attention. You also say it reminds you of your mother's housedresses. If your mother was wearing halter neck (not "neckholder") housedresses, she must have had tongues wagging in your neighborhood! Based on your comment, you are of an older demographic. Your personal style is different than someone that is, at a minimum, 20 years younger than you. It doesn't make this a bad choice. This, coupled with your obvious disdain for Meghan, has tainted your opinion.
Agree, and just because you are thin does not mean you should to wear super short dresses. Her hair would look nicer shorter,it would frame her face nicely.
DeleteI agree with your comment on this dress. Although I usually like Meghan's style, this ons is too short and it looks frumpy. The hairstyle doesn't go well with this neckline. I do like the shoes. Happy birthday Harry!
DeleteDamsel Dragonfly
@Anonymous16/9/24 15:07 Where do you find "obvious disdain for Meghan" in my comment? I was talking about the poor cut of the dress and what it reminds me of. I then suggested that I would have chosen a more casual sportive outfit for this particular event. As I said 'in my opinion'. You are now jumping on me, making assumptions about my age, suggesting I am too old to have an opinion on fashion. Now isn't that disdain? Or age shaming, whatever? What I see in the comment section, that people who feel the need to defend Meghan - why did you even feel the need to defend her? I did not attack her. All I said was, the dress, mainly the cut of it is not my cup of tea and I am kind of bored with her repetitive style of sleeveless bare shoulder dresses - have no problem attacking other commenters for their opinion. Not nice and rather hypocrite. In my opinion.
DeleteIt particularly fond of Meghan’s dress but it does look comfortable.
ReplyDeleteI don’t love her dress or her shoes although they seem fine for the occasion. And Meghan has great legs. But the dress doesn’t have much shape to it. I really like the fabric, however. Meghan and Harry look happy.
ReplyDeleteA very plain dress for the Duchess of Difficulty. The fabric looks very stiff, it does not look comfortable.
ReplyDeleteYou resort to name calling? It is enough to not care for her dress. You don't need to be so immature in critique.
DeleteActually this is a name being used by the press several times.
DeleteFor the nasty people who can't keep their comments about fashion - you should go elsewhere. The Duchess looks GREAT like she always does.
ReplyDeleteIndeed she does. I love the simplicity and the length works for a tennis afternoon in a warm climate where others around her are also wearing short dresses. I wish I had such great legs! The nastiness that comes out for Meghan alone on this blog is worrying and then today the personal abuse to Helen which must be extremely distressing for her. LRB
DeleteMeghan’s dress is giving me major SpongeBob SquarePants vibes. It’s also a little too short for my taste. She must love her bare shoulders look. I quite like the color of her dress.
ReplyDeleteOne of the sugars in this blog tries to compare Meghan to Kate? laughable! The dress does nothing for Meghan, too short and shapeless. Her legs are too skinny, her hair extensions overpowers the outfit. Perfection? hardly.
ReplyDelete@ Kteach
DeleteI do not like the dress either but talking about someone legs is body shaming and Meghan's hair is not better or worser than the hair of the holy trinity being L, M and C or K.
Oh, sugar it was a hint to the shoes, but since you want to talk about legs and short skirts here's to you https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/ML-Kate-M-COMP.jpg?w=620

DeletePetty, ugly, immature nonsense about a beautiful, sweet, giving woman.
ReplyDeleteDuring the trip to Colombia I loved every outfit that Meghan wore. It does not happen often but this dress I really don't like on Meghan and probably on no one else either.
ReplyDeleteI certainly preferred her Colombia outfits to the ones she wore in Nigeria… which just too often seems to expose a little too much flesh for the culture. However I just love this dress for someone as petite as she is and at this specific event. It is always interesting to hear others opinions when expressed with a kind heart. LRB

ReplyDeleteI personally dont' find this dress appealing on either the model or Meghan. I don't like the fabric or the length of this dress. I prefer dresses a little longer. In saying that I am old fashioned, even on younger ladies/girls I dont find it attractive this length. I don't find it elegant. Regardless, of my tastes the Duchess looks nice. I do prefer the shoes of the model though with this dress.
ReplyDeleteAs expected!
DeleteI would like to say plenty, but for once in my life I will take my mothers advice. "If you can't say something nice about someone, don't say anything".
ReplyDeleteAnd my mum always reminded us "if you say something negative about someone, don't forget to say something positive".
DeleteHow funny that 1 little dress can cause so many comments. Proof people (the haters, not the normal people) are just waiting the next event with Meghan and Harry to speak out endless the same comments which does rarely concern clothes in itself.
ReplyDeleteSo true.
