Sonja herself is dressed almost "19th century", but it works & she looks quite nice. I love the cute jacket on the lady standing to her right. ~Ruthie

The third lady is Delphine Arnault, CEO and chair of Dior. Her father is Bernard Arnault, a wealthy businessman.

    2. Bernard Arnault is amongst the richest men in the world.
And certainly the richest when it comes to the fashion industry.
If something in the “haute gamme” fashion world stands still long enough, he buys it.
He is the owner of Dior.
His mother, Marie-Josèphe Savinel is said to have had a "fascination for Dior".
When he was 35-year-old he bought Dior for $15 million with some of the family’s business money.
He is noted as being a visionary leader and philanthropist.
Along with his family of 5 children, he has avoided ‘bad press’ from the media.
Amongst his close friends are Brigitte Macron and Charlene of Monaco.

Queen Sonja looks beautiful in her black dress and soft pink shawl. She is such an elegant lady. Mme Macron looks marvelous in black suit. I don't know who the third lady is in the photos but she too looks great.

  3. Madam Macron looks very elegant and stylish. The black suit, fits her well. I like the color of her panty - hose and accessories. The beautiful pearl necklace really is a wonderful addition. The Queen looks nice, but I would like to see her outfit without the pink shawl to get a better look at what she is wearing.
Love the black jacket with white embroidery the lady to the left is wearing. This stands out beautifully and is just enough embellishment.

All three ladies look lovely. First Lady Brigitte never disappoints - classic and chic and the suede heels and nylons accent her beautiful legs. Plus her excellent posture. (yes, I'm a tad envious since I am close her age.) Queen Sonja's soft pink pashmina is a lovely accessory to break up her black. Hair perfectly coiffed, but I don't really like the shoes. So many other choices today of stylish pumps with either kitten or low block heel for her comfort and safety.

Coco Chanel said that knees are ugly and should be hidden.

Why “granny” scarf? She is 87 and she is a grandmother, old enough to be a great grandmother too. Although she truly qualifies for the title Granny, I wouldn’t use it negatively against her! The photos are a bit unclear but I think she has coordinated soft pink earrings, matching belt and the pashmina … and in European autumn, on an older slender lady, a cosy wrap for warmth and a bit of colour is more important than being perfectly in tune with modern/young fashion tastes .. don’t you think?! - Grace

      @ Grace
You could be surprised what older ladies wear sometimes. In fact there is no age anymore to dress like a grany. Younger women are sometimes dressed older than a granny of 80 years old. In general I love Queen Sonja's outfits. I'd prefer her in one of her beautiful jackets/short coats instead of the pashmina. She usually is not afraid to wear red or yellow and her hair is done very good this time.

    3. It is said that Madame Macron does not wear a wig.
You can see photos of her on the net with her hair when she was younger.
ELLE have a good article on her hair and how she gets the volume.
As she is not well known outside of France, unfortunately, most articles on her hair are in French.
Below is a link, in French, for an article on her hair.
If you need it in English, maybe you have an automatic translator in your computer.
Anyway, if Madame Macron did wear a wig …. SO WHAT!

Although I usually like Queen Sonia‘s dignified style, I find her pink shawl overpowering so that the ensemble looks very loaded and not very flattering.
Madame Macron looks slightly unusual this time with the pearls, all in black, wonderfully elegant. The skirt is a tad too short. Would love to see more of this „vielle France“ touch.

For me Madame Macron wears the best ensemble of the 3 ladies. Love her Dior handbag, shoes & necklace(s).
They look lovely all 3 but I am a bit surprised by the look of Queen Sonja's outfit. I would prefer one of her beautiful jackets instead of the pink shawl. She should also change her shoes. I can imagine they must be very comfortable since she is wearing them every winter. I love the style of the queen's hair. She looks a lot younger than her real age.

    2. Anonymous26/9/24 12:43

“Do the math” comes across passively aggressive when written by an anonymous to someone who was stating her preference. Is it passive aggressive? (most of us are not from the USA and aren’t used to the phrase being tossed at us, only heard on tv or in the movies, so am checking my interpretation … otherwise doing the math on a shawl which is nonnumeric is pretty illogical phrasing?! ) - Grace

  13. Madame Macron looks extremely polished here. Queen Sonja a little less so because the pink wrap/shawl, the way it's draped, ruins her outfit to some extent.

Des talons un peu plus hauts, une jupe un peu plus courte et une veste un peu plus serrée feraient plus moderne, un passage chez le coiffeur pour delphine Arnaut, mais son pantalon noir nous sort de l'ordinaire.

I like the pink shawl, picture 3 seems to show the true colour which doesseem to be washed out. Mdm Macron always in a perfectly tailored outfit, though the skirt could be a tad longer to give a more polished look. I am sorry but the full hair makes her look like a bobble head. I like how she looks in that style but perhaps an inch or so shorter off her shoulder would be better imo

    1. Anon 16:54. In fact when Madame Macron took on her role as wife of the president, her skirts were even a bit shorter.
I think with advice she gradually lowered the length to just above the knee.

It is not a secret, Mme Macron has been wearing a 'wig' for a very long time, imo it looks silly. The wig is too bulky and very poorly fitted, you can clearly see a demarcation on top of her head.

I prefer Madame Macron in a skirt that is called too short (to me it is not too short, since she has a petite size and beautiful legs), than Princess Anne in a skirt that is too short (see the commemoration in Arnhem).
There is nothing wrong with Mme Macron's hair either, she has a perfect bob. Not everyone likes to wear long hair separated in the middle. She has every right to stay true to her own style like anybody else.

On the monitor I have access to, the third photo of the shawl is better, and the others are washed out. One can see some sort of damask weave and perhaps a fine finish on the thread/yarn. It is a better made shawl, not homespun or granny. Love the buttons and the overall style of Mme Macron's suit. I also like the ensemble on Directrice Arnault. Chris L
