On September 20, 2024, Spain's Queen Sofia attended the International Congress on Neurodegenerative Diseases (NEURO 2024), at the Champalimaud Centre in the Portuguese capital, Lisbon. Co-organised by the CIEN Foundation, the Queen Sofia Foundation, and the Champalimaud Foundation, this scientific congress aims to highlight advances in research on Alzheimer's and other neurodegenerative diseases for the public.
Queen Sofia also visited an exhibition at the Champalimaud Foundation (Champalimaud Centre) in Lisbon. In the afternoon, Queen Sofía attended a concert by fado singer Katia Guerreiro, held as part of the International Congress on Neurodegenerative Diseases.
