Irina is from Moldova, not Russian. She has a beautiful soprano voice.

Mathilde is such a supporter of the arts. More so than any of the other current royals. She took her mother in law’s legacy to another level. Paola is likely quite pleased with her daughter in law.

This dress is a great choice an opera performance. Well done!

Beautiful dress for the opera! Mathilde looks elegant. I do wish she would have chosen more of an evening look in terms of her makeup especially a darker lip color.

Queen Mathilde rarely wears heavy red lipstick. With this dress I think it would not be beautiful. She wore a light brown/apricot/peach color on her lips wich is perfect with the color of her dress. If you click on picture N° 4 to make the photo larger, you will see better the color she used (at least on my screen).

Mathilde looks lovely in this outfit (is it a dress? or a two-piece?). She is tall and fairly slender and therefore can carry large bold prints very well. I like the colour too. Just the right tone of orange/pink so as not to make the white floral print stand out too much. Very nice.

The legacy comes from Queen Elisabeth, King Philippe's great grandmother. It is tradition in Belgium that the queen takes over the support of the "Queen Elisabeth Competition" and invites musicians from all over the world. Queen Fabiola took over from Queen Elisabeth and after her it was Queen Paola who was the queen behind this yearly competition. After the abdication of King Albert II, Queen Mathilde took over from Queen Paola. All Belgian queens have always had great interest in music and arts. (Queen Paola's specialty was more in the field of paintings as well modern as ancient works. She studied the history of arts and paintings when she was a young student).
Fashion wise . I like this evening dress on Queen Mathilde. It is a rewear, but it looks like there is less fabric in the skirt part than before. Difficult to see on these pictures.

What I've always predicted is proven once again. When this dress was new (she wore it 2 times last year), the comments were bad because it was designed by Natan. Not even a year later the comments are much better. Natan is ahead with its designs and a lot of bloggers (especially the British) are always reluctant to try new fashion design and prefer the more classic styles.

“Always reluctant to try new designs” may be hard to prove here as we none of us know what each other wears, nor in general which nationality each blog commenter is. I looked back over last year and saw Mathilde wore this dress in June 2023 (couldn’t find another time) and I think that she looks better this year - different lighting, soft makeup (last year was harsh), and no wind blowing the outdoor photos which make the dress look as Natan designs often look: too much voluminous material. Both Maxima and Mathilde are tall and quite large boned and beautiful - but generally I don’t think they look good in the heavy materials of Natan. Sometimes it’s absolute perfection; I’ve never thought it’s ahead of its time - you may well be right! - but rather that Natan doesn’t suit Maxima and Mathilde for the most part. Now I see it can also be the lighting, makeup etc that can make Natan and the wearer look harsher or softer! … interesting thanks - Grace

"None of us know what each other wears" ? I do not understand what you mean ? I can compare what the British royals wear and what is worn by the other royals in Europe. This dress is not made in heavy material so it is normal that it blows in the wind. Queen Mathilde has another dress in more or less the same style, a green one which she wore more than the orange one Evertbody loved that dress, it was also in a light almost transparant fabric. You make it sound if Queen Mathilde and Queen Maxima do not have other dresses or outfits made by other designers. Even if they are wearing something very up--to-date and trendy designed by another fashion brand or couturier the same comments are coming back. In the international press Queen Mathilde and her daughters always receive good comments about the way they are dressed.

  11. Ce modèle de robe à l'imprimé blanc est parfait pour la reine Mathilde ; elle a su choisir une pochette et des chaussures dont la couleur s'accordent bien !

There is nothing wrong with her hairstyle. I do prefer her hair when it is turned inside instead of outside. It is always when her hair has grown a bit longer that it is turned outside. Maybe she asks herself to do it that way. Soon she will have state visits that come up and she will be obliged to wear updo's or hats, we will see. In that case she needs some times to let her hair grow a bit to be able to make these updo's with the help of false hair pieces. Not every lady likes to wear long hair. Queen Paola only had long hair when she was a young princess or it was maybe also a false chignon she wore in those days. She also had short hair (shorter than Queen Mathilde and shorter than now). In fact she could have all hairstyles with her natural beauty. When she became queen after the death of King Baudouin, Queen Paola kept her shorter hair and managed to wear the tiara's in her shorter hairstyle. Every queen or princess must adopt an hairstyle that she can easily wear with tiara's or other hair fascinators or headbands .
