On September 4, 2024, Britain's Queen Camilla hosted an anniversary reception at St James’s Palace to mark the 70th anniversary of Book Aid International. The reception, marking Book Aid International’s anniversary at St James’s Palace, was attended by around 100 guests, including the charity’s president, Nigel Newton, and Lady Caroline Simmonds, the daughter of its founder. The Queen has been Patron of Book Aid International since 2022. The late Duke of Edinburgh was Patron from 1966 until his death in 2021.
Could it be that queen Camilla is the hardest working royal at the moment? (Like the dress and the shoes). anna e.
ReplyDeleteI like this dress--it's the usual style but the fabric is lovely.
ReplyDeleteIt’s kind of a uniform like QEII and QBeatrix had/have. I like this dress, nice pattern and colors.
DeleteIt depends what you call hard working and if you only compare the royals of the UK whith each other, you could be right. The duke and duchess of Edinburgh have payed a visit recently, I don't remember already where but I saw a picture of them on another site. Fashionwise : only the shoes are lovely. The shape of the dress is like all her other dresses : too broad and too thick shoulder pads, always the same width for the skirt, nothing elegant.
ReplyDeleteIf I was 80 I would like her style 😉
ReplyDeleteI am almost 80 but my style is much younger. I asked my hairstylist this morning what she thought of my new jeans jacket, if it was not too young for my age. Oh no she said my mother is almost 80 too and she dresses also young like you. Women of 80 years old these days whose health is good can look much younger than their real age.
DeleteToday all the young European queens will continue to dress young when they will be 80 years.
So, anon 18.07, you expect the queen wearing a jeans jacket for official meetings? Well, why not… (i don‘t like jeans jackets at all)
Delete@ Anon. 17:40
DeleteI don't expect the queen to wear jeans jackets at all, but there is a whole range of younger dresses and ensembles and pantsuits that Queen Camilla could wear. I was just giving an example, I can wear a jeans jacket, I am not a queen. I can wear a lovely pant suit, so can Queen Camilla but she doesn't even try. She should take an example at Princess Benedikte of Denmark and Queen Silvia of Sweden.
There are pictures of Queen Mathilde (when she was still a princes) and of Queen Maxima (I don't remember when) wearing a jeans jacket. But they are not afraid to wear something young now and then. Their children are wearing denim clothes too on the right occasion, on the right place.
These dresses sure do fit and suit the queen well. A good choice for a working uniform, no fuss, interesting fabrics.
ReplyDeleteQueens doesn't have to wear "working uniforms". Usually they are dressed in beautiful dresses or pant suits or an ensemble of a skirt and a jacket or a dress and a matching coat, all this depending on the event where they have to be present. A queen is allowed to wear a dress or other clothes which make a difference with the clothes worn by civilian ladies assisting at the same event, otherwise one would not see the difference between a civilian and a queen.
DeleteAnonym. 18:23: this is a Queen who doesnot join the trend of royals to be up to date and stylish, I love and respect her for that.
DeleteShe wears what is comfy and on special occasions she looks quite beautifull.
Silvia and Sonja are older, but dress younger and better. So no need for uniform.
DeleteLes lignes de cette robe conviennent à merveille à la reine mais où le bât blesse, c'est au niveau des motifs qui ne l'avantagent pas du tout !
ReplyDeleteThe late Queen wore distinctive colours so that she could be seen. She also declared that she wanted to set a good example. Whether you liked her clothes or not, she always looked elegant and special. Queen Camilla needs a new, elegant style for occasions like the above. I am very glad she is not trying to look younger at her age.

DeleteOf course she must not try to look younger at her age. It is too late, she started to early to look old and now that she is really old there is nothing that she can to change it anymore.
Very nice dress. Always busy. css
ReplyDeleteThe style of this dress, suits the Queen well.
ReplyDeleteQueen Camilla seems to be a very nice person, but fashion wise she will never look 'royal' like Queen Elizabeth. Anonymous5/9/24 17:11 said 'if she was 80, she would like to dress like Queen Camilla, well good for her. I am 78 years old, fit petite woman and I would never wear old fashion dresses like Queen Camilla. Because you are 80 years does not mean you have to look old and frumpy, for example Queen Sylvia of Sweden is much more up to date in her choice of clothes.
