On September 28, 2024, Princess Theodora of Greece married American lawyer Matthew Kumar at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens in a religious wedding ceremony. Their wedding was attended by friends and family, including Queen Anne-Marie, Prince Pavlos, Princess Marie-Chantal, Princess Maria-Olympia, Prince Nikolaos, Princess Alexia, Carlos Morales, Prince Philippos, and Princess Nina.

Princess Benedikte, Prince Gustav, Princess Carina, Princess Alexandra, Count Richard, Queen Sofia, Infanta Elena, Infanta Cristina, Irene Urdangarin, and Miguel Urdangarin also attended the wedding. Princess Theodora wore a wedding gown by Greek designer Celia Kritharioti. The couple’s reception is set to be held at the One and Only Aesthesis Hotel.

    Ah, the famous Khedive of Egypt Tiara. I suspected that we would see that piece today on Princess Theodora's head, and I was right. Also the family heirloom veil of Princess Margaret of Connaught. Lovely to see the tradition going on. The bride's dress is beautiful, too. Celia Kritharioti did a great job here, as she did on the dress worn by Theodora for the pre-wedding dinner. The guests all look fabulous, but I don't care overly much about Marie-Chantal of Greece's dress, nor the dress of Princess Nina.

      I agree with you. And Marie-Chantal’s dress is a bit meh for me. Not bad, just a cliche dress (for Greece) in a boring colour. This style dress has been overdone- these days I only see it on bridesmaids.

    The bride's gown is..nice, but dated. However, given that it is the same specially designed dress that she was set to wear 4 years ago before COVID interrupted their wedding plans, I can understand why it looks that way. However the heavy embroidery and lace work of the dress and the veil, together with the folded bodice detail seems too much. Perhaps if the bodice detail was lighter and wispy, or omitted altogether, the overall dress would look better. However the bride's beaming smile (and the grooms) speaks volumes of their joy and happiness and I wish them no less. So happy for them that their day has finally arrived.

    I'm disappointed by the ever elegant P.Benedikte's gown. The design is nice but the fabrics and the colours are underwhelming to me. Different colours and fabrics, maybe some contrasting print combined in the same style/design could have been so much more effective and beautiful.
    For once I like Q.Sofia's outfit more than many others, and Q.Anne-Marie's dress looks very suitable and fits her very well. Other stand-outs for me are P.Nina, P.Elena, P.Carina and P.Alexandra. All the men - both older and younger - look smart and dashing.

      ANon 9:13 a very interesting comment thank you. I don’t find it dated but your explanation made me look again. I think the outer layer is heavily embroidered but it is thin and transparent sitting over multiple very thin layers so probably when she moves it doesn’t look heavy but light and sparkly. I prefer more simple fabrics myself but when you’re wearing a tiara I guess more is more?! Thanks again for a well worded interesting response … I’m tired of the negative one liners that we see on many posts here these days … “no just no” … “I don’t like it”… etc and love hearing alternate opinions and why! - Grace

      I fully agree with your comments. My first thought was that Princess Theodora looked like there was too much fabric, but it is indeed the heavy embroideries that gives this impression. I like the folded bodice detail, but in my opinion it would have looked better with a more simple fabric for the rest of the gown. (think Victoria of Sweden´s wedding dress). I do not agree regarding Princess Benedicte, I love the colours and the embroided bag (probably made by her sister Margrethe). I am not a fan of Chantal;s dress, but the other ladies look fine.

    The bridal gown is perfection. I love the fabric, the overlay is gorgeous, the skirt moves and sits beautifully. The off the shoulder and bodice, is perfect. The back view is equally spot on, perfect. The veil and tiara look incredible. She looks the most beautiful bride.
    Queen Anne Marie looks wonderful in her blue gown, the pearl necklace looks stunning and completes the overall look. Queen Sofia and both the Infanta's look beautiful, gorgeous gowns. Princess Nina looks beautiful in her pale blue gown, this looks lovely and suits her well. The red gown Princess Alexandra wore, and the red clutch looks fabulous.
    Pss Bene and her daughter look beautiful, both stunning.

    That is one of the most beautiful wedding gowns of the Royal brides. The tiara was lovely too. I am on the fence with the bridesmaids gowns.

    Not sure if I am correct but the hand bag for Queen Anna Maria seems to have her initials AM embroidered on it. PBene the same , looks like a stylized B. Love this exquisite dress on the bride,

    I love the design of the bridal gown. The neckline makes it very regal. A neckline which we saw on many regal brides in the past. The heavy lace work and embroidery on the dress and the veil is something I don't like, I prefer plain silk fabric like satin, crepe, etc... The best dressed among the guests are Queen Sofia, former queen Anne-Marie, the infanta with the turquoise gown (I always mix up their names), Princess Benedikte's dress has a beautiful design but the colors are not well chosen.

      For what it’s worth, the veil is the same Irish linen veil worn in 1905 by HRH P Theodora’s great-great-grandmother, HRH P Margaret of Connaught, when she married HRH P Gustafson Adolf of Sweden. The veil has also been worn by her descendants Queens Ingrid and Margrethe of Denmark, Queen Anne-Marie of Greece and her daughter Princess Alexia, and Princess Benedikte and her daughters Princesses Alexandra and Natalie. It was also worn by Mary Donaldson when she married the then Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark.

      I like the fact that the veil has such significance and THAT is much more important than fashion. Imagine being able to wear something that is over 100 years old, previously worn by other family members. Priceless.

    Beautiful bride, that dress is gorgeous! I also really like P. Nina's dress, very simple and understated and the color is so pretty!! Blown away by the beautiful white flowers outside the church. I can only imagine how the inside of the church was decorated.

    The dress had me thinking of Lady Gabriella Windsors dress. It had that same whimsical feminine feel about it.I love the continuity of wearing the tiara,though I wish the base could have been opened up to sit more like a tiara than a coronet.
    The veil,is exquisite and again,a thread of their history woven into their special day.
    Q AnneMarie looked beautiful in her blue gown,what an amazing figure.But then all three sister have kept their slim figures.
    I was disappointed in the bridesmaid dresses.The color is lovely,but the material,is unforgiving!I think the only ones to carry it off,we’re the brides nieces.
    P Nina looked lovely,though not a fan of the ankle length dresses.I’d rather a full gown or knee length.
    P Alexandra beautiful dress,again if it had been a tad longer.
    The couple look so happy.I wish them every happiness as they start their married lives together.

    I love the brides dress and tiara;also all of the other pretty dresses. The bridesmaids dresses are pretty.All the royals with no thrones.I do like the flowers around the door of the church,that is so popular these days(Tara)

    What a beautiful bride and groom. The RL's looked great. I really liked Q Sofias gown, she looked fantastic. Also, Pss Ninas dress was stunning lovely color and great Necklace. Many of the guests not pictured here looked great. For the bride and groom best wishes for the future.

    The tiara and veil look lovely on Theodora. I would like her wedding dress more without the bulky wrap-around top portion - maybe longer sleeves instead with a v-neck. The bridesmaid dresses look cheap, although I imagine they were not.
