Very strange, the whole family present at such a formal event.
Girls Ralph Lauren dress is lovely.

Charlene looks lovely as well as the children. But I truly don't understand why these children almost always have to be present at grown-up events like here where a minister is taking the oath??

well Albert is an older father, he does not have the luxury of time to train his heir when he is 20 something, Jacque and Gabriella have to learn while they are still young.

Because they are heir to the throne and in 10 yrs they will be 20 and expected to take on duties as their dad will be 75. This very good experience for them to learn be being present rather than reading in a book. These kids have their future mapped out for they just have to fulfill their duty if they want to keep their country. On a fashion note they are all dressed very nicely. Love seeing little girls in dresses.

Silly old rule of primogeniture, Gabriella should be by order of birth the head of the country when her father dies, but her brother will simply because he is a man.

i like Charlene in these soft tone colours, however the middle part hair style is not the best and the shoes seem too small for her feet.

  5. I remember reading somewhere that some royals complained they were isolated from royal life growing up and so when it was time to "take over" they were traumatized at how much different their lives would be. They had difficulty adjusting. So, as the article goes, modern royals now expose their children young in life so they grow up with royal life. I wish I could remember the article, but I seem to remember it had something to do with Prince Frederik of Denmark making a statement, but I'm not positive.

J'aime le pantalon blanc et la veste bleu ciel de Charlène mais pas ce chemisier strict qui serre la gorge. C'est très austère.
Les enfants ont dû s'ennuyer terriblement à ce genre de cérémonie...

They attend to gain exposure just like the wales children..... the twins also go to many things that are age appropriate. Thankfully both ladies hair has grown out, hopefully the princess won't take scissors to her hair again.

Yes, white shoes! They look very nice for a summer Côte d’Azure formal occasion, with the light blues and white and blonde in my view. I wonder what you might have opted for? Grace.

Everyone looks great, nice dress on Gabriella. There is a train of thought that much opportunity (privilege) comes with responsibility. I think it was a great idea to have the twins see the responsibility, as long as the minister being sworn in agreed. Chris L.

  10. I just love the soft powder blue blazer and blouse on Princess Charlene, I like her hair as well, speaking of hair I would like to see how Princess Gabriella would look with her bangs grown out, she would still be cute I think. I do think that it is a growing experience for the twins to be involved with their parents as time flies by fast. I remember how Prince Ranier and Princess Grace use to include their children as well!

Lovely to see the Princely family together for this event--I think the children attending something like this is to give them exposure (especially for Jacques) to royal duties. The Wales children have been doing things both formal and more informal to accustom them for the demands in the future. They both look terrific in their more formal clothes--I love Gabriella's dress. Charlene looks beautiful in the pale blue. I do wish her trousers had been a touch longer but that's just me.

I think we see here that this prince is a reigning monarch, in contrast to the kings of Europe, most of whom are restrained to ceremonial duties.

Not King Philippe of the Belgians. Yes you read well not "of Belgium" but of the Belgians. Belgium is a constitutional government. For the moment King Philippe is still very busy with the formation of a government. He has practically daily meetings with the ministers. Very hard to achieve because of the different communities and languages in Belgium. They are sometimes on purpose far from understanding each other. When the Dutch speaking community agrees, almost automatically the French speaking community disagrees. And then you also have the German speaking community which is the smallest community of the 3, not in territory surface but in number of habitants. And you also have the capital of Brussels which is a mix of French speaking and Dutch speaking people + a big number of foreign nationalities and immigrants. Trying to find a balance between all these different "Belgians" is quite a challenge.

Princess Gabriella is wearing a stylish navy dress. Unfortunately she is wearing sling-backs that are too wide for her. Lucky the girl(s) who can wear her beautiful clothes bought at International fashion brands. I suppose the clothes which became too small for princess Gabriela, are given away to dress poor little girls whose parents have not enough money to buy new clothes for their daughters

    1. A lot of fashion houses give or lend these clothes for both little girls and women as it is free international publicity for them.
And I’m sure, where it is possible, they are passed on and don’t get wasted.
In fact, some fashion houses will pay a “star” to wear one of their creations for red-carpet events. And they offer big sums of money.
In some places it's called "scratch my back and I'll scratch yours"

      @ deadeggs
Yes I know these practices, which you describe very well, are taking place. But I think it doesn't take place in every royal household. I've never seen the Dutch or Belgian princesses when they were still children, wear "haute couture for children" by famous designers. They wore of course good quality clothes from brands with a high reputation or littles dresses made for special occasions by Natan (as well for CP Elisabeth and her sister Princess Eléonore as for CP Amalia and her sisters the Princesses Alexia and Ariane). Sometimes when they were still very young, it happened that Eléonore wore a dress that belonged to Elisabeth, but in return Eléonore wore sometimes a new dress designed by a new Belgian couture brand where Queen Mathilde was client. For the moment I don't know how it is done at the Belgian court. I know the expression "scratch my back......."

Deadeggs: the practice you describe is not done in Royal houses, in both meanings of “ not done”, so there will not be free publicity for fashion houses.
By the way: this was one of the quarrels with Meghan Markle: she accepted gifts, which other members of the BRF will never do.
