On September 2, Dutch Princess Beatrix unveiled a sculpture group in memory of Queen Juliana at the Koekamp in The Hague. The ceramic sculpture group is 5.5 meters wide and 3.75 meters high and consists of four human figures. One of the figures represents Queen Juliana during a working visit. The sculpture group was designed by artist Ingrid Mol and commissioned by the Hague City Council. Juliana (1909-2004) was the Queen of the Netherlands from 1948 until her abdication in 1980. On April 30, 1980, Beatrix became the monarch when her mother, Queen Juliana, abdicated.
Its always a joy to see her, she looks lovely. This was a lovely visit.
ReplyDeleteLovely to see princess Beatrix again ! She is looking good, beautiful jacket/cardigan !!
ReplyDeleteOur former Queen is looking great!
ReplyDeleteLovely flowery top and cardigan!
La princesse est élégante dans l'association d'un haut sur lequel elle a rajouté une chemise le tout imprimé fleuri !
ReplyDeleteJe reviens sur mon commentaire en précisant que les motifs ressemblent à des fleurs de tilleul !
ReplyDeleteI always like the perky way Princess Beatrix combines her trousers with her shoes. Not very fond of the slightly overpowering top, though.

Love Princess Beatrix in her trousers and top. Very wise of her to take a hiking stick for the walking part, better and more secure than a classic walking stick. Taking into account her age, she is looking very good and so courageous.
ReplyDeleteLove seeing Princess Beatrix! She is always a treat for the eyes and looks lovely here. The statue looks wonderful and I'm sure it was a special moment for her to unveil this statue of her mother.

In the Netherlands many people don't like the way the statue of Princess (former Queen) Juliana has been made. There are other statues of her on different places in The Netherlands, which are much better.
DeleteAlways nice to see her. She looks very nice, as usual. css
ReplyDeleteNever a false note, fashion wise, with Princess Beatrix.
DeleteToday, she is a Princess but to her people, always, always a Queen. She has been blessed to enjoy her retirement with three lively and fun loving daughters-in-law.
Long live Princess (Queen) Beatrix
p.s. Miss her hats.

She used to have some arrogance about her ( like Alexia), but since she’s abdicated she has that lovely grandma aura about her. And like her sister Margriet, she’s definitely the most classy of the royal family.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't call it arrogance. She is a queen from the old days when a queen should be dressed chique with a hat and gloves (to make the difference) with the ordinay people.
DeleteI agree with you Anon 18:50
DeleteI don't think arrogance is the right word.
Perhaps explained as "she had a royal comportement which is now outdated".
Classy, yes agree.
Princess
ReplyDeleteWho are the other three people in this group statue?
