On Saturday, September 14, 2024, Prince Albert II and Princess Charlène of Monaco visited Saint-Honorat Island, in the Bay of Cannes, to attend the blessing of two bells destined for the Sainte-Croix Chapel of the tower-monastery, a classified historical monument. The Prince and Princess, welcomed on the island by Father Abbot Vladimir Gaudrat, visited the tower-monastery, whose restoration is nearing completion.
This iconic site of the island will be open to the public in the summer of 2025. Afterward, Prince Albert and Princess Charlène attended a mass followed by the blessing of the two bells, which were placed in front of the church.
Prince Albert and Princess Charlène are the godfather and godmother of the large bell, named 'Marie Agustin' in memory of Augustin Grimaldi (1479-1532). Augustin was Regent of Monaco, Bishop of Grasse, and founder of the village of Valbonne. He was also the Abbot of Lérins, a Cistercian monastery located on the island of Saint-Honorat.
Beautiful dress, something very different for Charlene and I like it except I think it would look better with an unbroken expanse of black at the front. The light siena loop across the abdomen breaks up the line unflatteringly, imo. Charlene’s hair and makeup are perfect ❤️.
ReplyDeleteYes, I was wondering whether Pr Charlene had changed her clothing style ??
DeleteShe's working with a new stylist perhaps
DeleteClassic autumnal colors are super elegant and have Parisian chic. Go Princess Charlene.

This Etro dress looks great on the model, but less so on Charlene. Can't put my finger on the reason why. Perhaps the proportions are a bit off to her shape? The lower waist (or the illusion of one due to the fabric pattern) and the longer length of the skirt? Maybe if the skirt was a couple of inches shorter given how tall Charlene is might have looked better?

As a qualified fashion designer with over 40 years experience, I think this design complements Princess Charlene's figure Excellent choice!
DeleteBeautiful dress but maybe what is a little off to you is what I see: the “belt” part of the pattern droops down from waist to hips and doesn’t sit very well once the wearer is in movement. Would be a perfect dress if that decoration were just around the waist or just black at that point, rather than it falling down across the hips. Aside from that, one of my favourite Charlene looks; although I think even better in this context on the stony path with a pair of white runners, which Catherine or Mary may have worn in the same circumstances. The pointed black shoes look painfully pointed for Charlene’s feet . - Grace
DeleteMaybe the shoes??
DeleteAgree with Anon 9:13!
DeleteYes, thank you @Grace and @Anon 12:01 I think you are both right about where the pattern is falling around the hips, and her shoes (a higher heel on a firmer surface would have lifted the hem further away from the ground). It is a beautiful dress and I love almost everything by Etro, including this piece.
Delete- Anon 9:13
Agree with Anon 12 01 re shoes. I look forward to seeing this lovely dress worn again with proper heels as in the photos of the model. I think it would make a huge difference.
DeleteSeems like a change in Charlene's style recently, these prints look good, lovely dress.
ReplyDeletems.
Stunning dress!
ReplyDelete@06:42 Agree.
DeleteIf it’s from ETRO it’s a ‘YES” from me. Italian all the way.
Always loved their paisley prints and their
tendence towards bo-bo designs.
Well chosen by Princess Charlene.
A beautiful dress.
Shoes by Gianvito Rossi.
Handbag by Louis Vuitton
But for the shoes, I wonder why the flat heels?
Cobble stones perhaps.
What is her shoe size?
ReplyDeleteShe has wide feet, so regular shoes look unfitting for her feet, its more noticeable when she wears heels.
DeleteIf it is true that she has wide feet, there are beautiful shoes these days which are wider than a standard shoe and one cannot see it. It is essential for her feet to support them in a correct way to avoid problems later when she will be older.
The last three outfits of Princess Charlene are containing brown colors. Maybe it is the trend for the winter fashion, I don't know. I didn't saw a site in which one can read about the colors that are fashion this autumn and following winter. I like this dress by Etro. It is a bit too long especially worn with flats. She couldn't wear high heels on the rough grounds of the monastery.
ReplyDeleteI think it is the shoes she wearing ,a higher heal would be perfect...

ReplyDeletePss Charlene try to be more feminine.
ReplyDeleteI like it:) Please be courageous.
Go for it Char.
The shoes are not right and so the dress!
ReplyDeleteBut I think the word "practicability" comes into force here.
DeleteAll the dragging on her for her choice of clothes, footwear, make up and hair! Honestly, shut up and research!!!
ReplyDeleteThere are certain rules and more importantly certain personal values when visiting a religious sanctuary. Charlene always follows the rules, perfectly. Find the way she dresses for an audience with the Pope!
She did this outing beautifuly.
“Honestly” (sic) please don’t tell anyone here to shut up. Everyone’s kindly and respectfully put comments or thoughts are welcome - but telling others to shut up or what they should do (research!) is not. - Grace
DeleteCharlene is such a beautiful woman. That dress is too frumpy for her!!
ReplyDeleteEtro is a brand that has been worn several years ago by Princess Laurentien of the Netherlands. Each time she wore that brand she received bad comments, or it didn't work for her or Etro became much better since then. (Of course she doesn't belong to the group of favorites on this blog).

DeleteHow can we have a fan club for Princess Laurentien as it's seldom we see her on this blog and almost everything Princess Laurentien wears, ETRO or otherwise, gets criticised.
Why? because she has a zany, eclectic approach to fashion which is not everybody’s cup of tea.
I love her for that and I wish we saw a lot more of her on this blog.
If ETRO got criticised for what Princess Laurentien wore, I don’t think it would have done much damage to them.
ETRO’s fashion house in Milan has been around for 55 years.
In the year of 2022, they had sales of 227 million Euros.
So they must be doing something right.
They have 140 stores in 68 countries.
Not all the pictures of all European princesses or Queens are shown on this blog. Last week a picture of Queen Mathilde when she had lunch with young diplomates who will be send soon abroad to represent their country has not been on this blog. One picture of Rania or Mary and it is always shown. Secondly nobody said ETRO was a bad brand, I like it but when Princess Laurentien wears it, she receives bad comments. It is true that lately we didn't saw much of her just 2 pictures taken of her and her husband at the wedding of Princess Märtha Louise of Norway. On the Dutch royal websites of course we see more pictures of her.
DeleteViva prince Albert and princess Charlain viva .👏
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely event, and a mass to celebrate; it looks like a beautiful place; Charlene is always elegant; the dress' pattern is a drop waist pattern and is tricky; it's not flattering on everyone except those models with specific torso proportions; it looks like it's hanging awkwardly on her lovely figure; I blame the dress; always thought Charlene should have her colors done as she tends to wear colors that wash her out; she doesn't seem to know what her style is and what colors look right on her, many of us dont; it's worth doing in her position.
ReplyDeleteThe princess wears what she likes and fits. We don’t know if she is asked to wear some of these fashions. Getting her colours done really, she knows what suits her and when she wants to wow us she nails it.
DeleteWhat a beautiful event and island; Charlene is always elegant but the dress colors and style do not suit her; dress colors are too drab for her coloring, and the tan pattern around the drop waist is just awkward for anyone but those models proportions; Charlene has a stunning figure but this dress does nothing for her; always thought she should get her personal colors done, and hire a new clothing stylist!
ReplyDeleteDress looks great on her. I'm loving her longer hair. Her short pixie was too harsh.
ReplyDeleteI think the dress looks a couple of sizes too big on her.
ReplyDeletePretty dress. Perfect for a visit to a monastery. Chris L.
ReplyDeleteVery lovely dress, different for Charlene I must say. Maybe a heel shoe would have fit better. css
ReplyDeleteFirst of all the Princely couple look wonderful together and Prince Albert looks very dapper wearing his straw hat, so Panama! I love the ratio of the black and the design print of the dress because there is enough of each to compliment the other and make a statement. The color of her dress is very appropriate for the occasion. I to would have loved to see her wear a higher heel but I understand that might be somewhat treacherous on the gravel as someone else pointed out!
ReplyDeleteGreat dress on PC. Love the print on her. Not sure about the shoes. They don’t go well with the dress.
ReplyDeleteTo all those talking about shoes, look where they are. We don't want her to break her ankle do we?
ReplyDeleteI like this outfit on Charlene, I hope to see more of her in outfits that are less her signature.
