On September 5, 2024, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway hosted a reception at Oscarshall in Oslo for diplomats who have embassies in Norway. It is an annual tradition for the Royal Family to meet the diplomats at a reception or gala dinner. The diplomatic dinner takes place at the Palace every third year. In the two intervening years, a reception is held at Oscarshall or aboard the Royal Yacht Norge.
OSCAR DE LA RENTA Tweed Peplum Jacket and Skirt
Why is she wearing a 😷?
ReplyDeleteBecause she has chronic pulmonary fibrosis..
DeleteI wonder too.
DeleteEither you´re sick, then stay away. Or, if you´re healthy enough to attend, take off that ridiculous mask.
@Anon 11:13 - I don’t know why Mette-Marit Marit is wearing a mask, but she has pulmonary fibrosis so perhaps the mask is related to that.

Either way, she could have skipped this.
DeleteThere are photos of Mette-Marit wearing a mask at times during the multi-day wedding festivities of Martha Louise. Because she has fragile health due to a chronic health condition, as mentioned, it makes the most sense that she is taking precautions when around so many people. Vanessa, I remember all too well your very loud opinions on masks. Let's not relive that. Her health is the priority here. She has taken sick leave in the past. According to the American Lung Association, "If someone with PF is wearing a mask, it is because they want to avoid exposures that could make them sick or trigger a coughing fit."
Delete@Vanessa, why so hostile? You have something against her staying healthy?
DeleteVanessa, 14.51 A most unfortunate comment. The Crown Princess has a serious medical condition. The mask is worn by her, to keep her stable and stay healthy.
DeleteRed looks very good on princess Mette Marit, the peplum not so flattering imo
ReplyDeleteRed always look so good on the Crown Princess, lovely cut jacket and skirt. Is she wearing the diamond and ruby earrings from Queen Sonja?
ReplyDeleteOh, this is very nice!
ReplyDeleteThe colour as well as the model suits her very well.
If this was a normal dress I would have love it. The peplum is not beautiful. I never liked peplums.
ReplyDeleteMe too, I’ve never liked peplums. Don’t know why. 😏
DeleteThey are a favourite of Queen Sonja. Maybe she has been giving her daughter in law some fashion advice.
Apart from that, a nice choice for a ‘not too dressed up’ event.
As another blogger said, red is a good colour for the Crown Princess.
Good versatility with the skirt and separate top for a re-wear.
But, it appears, Princess Mette-Marit has already worn it on two other occasions in 2019.
Peplums are fine if they fit properly, which M-M's does not (very obvious in the back view). It's too short/small for her & doesn't fit her fuller shape, throwing the whole outfit into turmoil. A miss for M-M. ~~Ruthie
DeleteLady in red. Looks fab!
ReplyDeleteJolie rouge un peu framboise, ça lui va bien. Tissu chic.
ReplyDeleteMais j'aime moins la forme de la veste, surtout les basques à la taille, ce serait sans doute mieux avec une coupe droite. Paloma.
The red suits her well. I generally like peplum outfits, but this one doesn’t seem to fit . I can’t figure out why it doesn’t flow, maybe to small so it flairs out rather than laying flatter. I love the fit of the skirt.
ReplyDeleteBelle Mette Marit mais les basques de sa veste ne la flattent pas tellement !
ReplyDeleteMette Marit should have been
ReplyDeletea housewife when her kids were growing up!
@ Anon. 18:19
DeleteWhy ?
Refering to what ms deadeggs said a couple of posts ago, we are a product of our genetics and our environment.
DeletePathetic comment. Kids all over the world struggle, has problems it doesn't help if they were privileged, royals, poor or middle class if there moms worked or not.
DeleteLove MM in red--its a color that is beautiful for her. Would have preferred if the peplum had been removed as, especially from the back, it is not particularly flattering to her. She looks lovely here. As for the mask comments, she has a very serious lung disease. I am sure she wears the mask on the advice of her doctors to protect herself in order for her to work. You will note she is inside while wearing the mask--it could also be related to the air quality issues inside instead of any concern over around people.
ReplyDeleteJanet
The Crown Prince looks slightly ungroomed. Shoes look worn, trousers and the shirt collar fit badly. Should have put in more effort since it´s a diplomatic reception
ReplyDeleteHe looks tired indeed
DeleteHe works a lot, and just came from Paris. Maybe try to be a little more caring for a fellow human being?
DeleteVery nice dress and color. MM wears it well. Wonder if she thinks about her son at this moment.? MM and the RF has a lot on their plates as one would say. css
ReplyDeleteWhat is this a gossip magazine?
DeleteWhy would she be thinking of him in this moment?
DeleteWhy is her wearing a mask such a big deal. If she feels like wearing one for whatever reason let her, maybe she doesn’t want to smell everyone's bad breath. Her husband has a bandaid in the middle of his forehead, and that wasn’t mentioned.
ReplyDeleteFashion wise the red is very nice on her. I like the fit of the skirt but the peplum seems to be too short on her, so it flairs out more than it should
Oh no!
DeleteHope there’s not a new control group being formed known as the “band-aid” police.😣
I rarely, if ever, write comments and just choose to enjoy the royalty fashion. These posts about a mask and should have stayed at home with her kids are so mean. They reflect small minds. I think I will just look at the pictures from now on.
