On September 28, 2024, King Charles and Queen Camilla attended an event at the Scottish Parliament to mark the 25th anniversary of the formation of the political body. King Charles and Queen Camilla were greeted at the Scottish Parliament by Presiding Officer Alison Johnstone. King Charles addressed the chamber and later met with 'local heroes' who have made significant contributions to their communities.
I can't honestly say that I like this coat by any measure, other than perhaps the colour. It has a limp shape and makes Camilla look dowdy. Perhaps it is a traditional vintage coat with tartan trim suitable for wear at Scottish political events? Her beret and jewellery are fine.

Gotta say, KCIII looks super handsome in his kilt! I love that he still honors Scots tradition as I think it speaks of his respect and love of Scots and Scotland (pay attention to this William). Queen Camilla looks lovely in her blue coat and I love the tartan edging details and collar. Her hat is great--love that jaunty angle. I also see she's wearing that enormous brooch that belonged to Queen Mary--and it's designed as a Scottish thistle. She's found a perfect setting for it which is hard to do since it is so long.

He is more Scottish than his Scottish entourage
DeleteCamilla is so charming!
ReplyDeleteLe roi Charles a beaucoup d'allure quand il porte le kilt !
ReplyDeleteIl cappotto della regina sembra sgualcito e non di buona qualità. Bello il colore e i revers tartan, ma forse poteva fare meglio.
ReplyDeleteRoss 🖤
We must pay attention to King Charles this time. In his scottish "tenue" he always looks so gorgeous. Anyhow he is absolutely the best dressed king. We have seen the scottish look of QC before. I always like her hat with the pheasant? feather especially

DeleteThe best dressed king ? You must be kidding. Just like his sister is the best dressed princess ?
Come on be serious.
I agree he looks absolutely fantastic here and I’ll gladly agree “best dressed king” in this outfit. - Gracd
DeleteEmphasizing that this is my opinion, I must say that I consider QC's look rather unelegant. Very often I like the combination of green and blue in garments, but not this time. The coat looks amateur. The baret, as always, looks great on QC
ReplyDeleteOh no, that dress look so washed out. A big miss this time
ReplyDeleteThe blue coat looks cheap, tacky. Charles looks good in his Scottish attire.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you!
DeleteI guess the coat of QC is of a soft wool and hence the wrinkles.
ReplyDeleteLike the colour and the combination with the greenish tartan and baret.
The King loves to wear his kilt, I think, he always does it with bravura.
Well done K.C.!
The idea of this coat dress is good. The color is very becoming, though worn too frequently. The choice of fabric was a mistake, I think. Though I’m sure it’s not, it does look rather cheap. The hat is cute. Overall, the outfit was not successful, I think.
ReplyDeleteI like the Queen Mary brooch and Camilla of course wore it to honour Scotland but somehow the unsatisfactory coat is not a good match. King Charles looks terribly elegant, I love this look.

Paloma.
Oh lord.
ReplyDeleteIt misses the mark for me. I wouldn’t have chosen a blouse with that collar to go under a coat with an obvious color. Better to wear a mock turtleeck ivory or a high neck blouse without a collar, Also not a fan of the coat, it doesn’t hang well and doesn’t have that great of a fit.
ReplyDeleteI like the colors of this coat, though the actual coat, I dislike, the coat doesn't sit well. The fabric maybe is a issue.
ReplyDeleteHandsome couple, great outfits, love the color of the coat but it is a bit frumpy. Nice little hat as well. I also like the dress of the presiding officer, nice colors for autumn.
ReplyDeleteOh, no it just gets worse and worse.
ReplyDeleteIt? Worse? And worse? A deeply thoughtful and beautifully constructed fashion critique, thank you.
DeleteDear No Name 7:27, Rubbish, Nobody on this blog has ever claimed that the Princess Royal is the best-dressed sister of King Charles. She likes wearing her old clothes whereas King Charles is much more fastidious with his outfits and the elegant Scottish look is stunning.

Nice look for the Queen.

Both looks (king and queen) miss the mark Camilla in particular looks dowdy and clearly shows her age (and lack of style, imo). Occasionally she pulls it off, but seems lately those occasions are quite rare. Last look I liked on her was the white poka dot dress from the high street, at one of her children’s events. I think it was Hobbs (or maybe Boden). Maybe she should try those outfits more often. At least it would offer some variation in terms of cut and print.
