On August 25, 2024, King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima, Princess Alexia, Princess Margriet, Princess Annette, and Count Claus-Casimir attended the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix at Circuit Zandvoort, Netherlands. The 2024 Dutch Grand Prix, officially known as the Formula 1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix 2024, is a Formula One motor race. The 4th edition of the Dutch Grand Prix took place at Circuit Zandvoort on Sunday, August 25.

But no, it is the son of Princess Laurentien.
Anyway with a hubby like King Willem-Alexander, she doesn’t have to give one thought about a toy-boy.
Looks like Queen Max has been shopping in the Zeus + Dione boutique in Athens.
Hope she has got some other Greek fashion surprises for us.

ReplyDeleteI had to comment here on your toy-boy joke, because I have to admit I find it a bit out of place. Even though I am sure you meant it in an innocent and harmless way.
This type of comment or joke about a young girl/woman would be considered as sexist and not respectful. In my opinion the same goes when it's about a young boy/man. This young count is enjoying some time with his uncle, aunt & cousin and I find there to be no need to be sexualizing young people.
That said, no hard feelings: I always enjoy reading your comments on this blog and look forward to reading more from you!

Where I live, we often use the expression “eye candy” for a handsome man.

I don't feel like I get carried away with political correctness. Society evolves and changes, and sometimes words or terms to describe someone get outdated. Especially online and with young people (like in this post) I don't see any harm in being mindful and aware of how we use our words.

Alexia looks lovely - her hair is gorgeous. All looking very well after some time away in the sun…nice to see them together with other family members - one of Margariet’s daughter in laws seems to be a staff member of something to do with the GP, she is in a few photos greeting the family. This family radiate warmth & closeness, can’t help but be interested /like seeing them because of this. Makes them seem somewhat ‘normal’ & down to earth….i am sure they have many faults and won’t be seen that way by many, but it seems there is genuine happiness to be together/a stable home life which in todays world is just a breath of fresh air.

I’ve mentioned before that as I live very close to a beach in southern Europe, I have seen a lot of black bathing costumes this year. They pair well with a light suntan and help the mature lady to slim down the tell tale marks of “too much chocolate cake “.
Princess Alexia seems to have adopted the combination of black with a light suntan.
Several evenings ago, I saw, in a nearby restaurant, a woman with a light suntan wearing a black shift dress, carrying a silver clutch and a silver hand flan. She looked stunning.
So, black is back for summer?

ReplyDeleteOn the one hand I love to see all the new clothes of royals in this blog but at the other hand when we talk about sustainability I wonder it's strange that most of them seldom wear their old clothes or remakes of their wardrobe. What happens to all those very expensive clothes which they have worn once. In imv they should be more an example for sustainability I think and that's absolutely not the case. If the focus is not always on their clothes you would have more interest too in their work

DeleteI do not agree with you. Each season Queen Maxima wears some of her older dresses again. Some of them are more than 10 years old. Dresses were shorter in those days. If they can be made longer she had them made longer. If you look carefully you can even see a line just above the hemline. Queen Mathilde also wears now and then an old dress which is more than 10 years old and is made longer until just under the knee. The princesses are wearing dresses which belonged to their mother or an older sister. The same for coats or evening dresses (Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway wore an evening dress on her 18th birthday gala that belonged to her mother, Princess Louise (daughter of Prince Laurent of Belgium) wore an emerald green evening dress that belonged to Queen Paola her grandmother. She looked amazing. Princess Estelle wore an evening dress that belonged to her mother CP Victoria of Sweden for the jubilee ceremony of her grand-parents. The dress had been adapted specially for her. Queen Mathilde sometimes wears an old bolero in white mink over a long evening dress. The bolero once belonged to Queen Fabiola. She also has a large cognac brown stola that belonged to Queen Fabiola. The young European princesses wear also earrings, necklaces, clutches and hats or fascinators that belong to their mother, etc.... So don't say they should be more and example for sustainability. Among civilians I would like to encounter the first teenager that agrees to wear dresses of 10 years and older that belonged to their sister or cousin. Among civilians, sometimes it are the parents who don't wish their children to wear second hand clothes that belonged to family even if they are still in good condition. Even if the focus is on their clothes, which is normal, the royals are also celebrities whose pictures are published in the media. Some of them are doing interesting, useful and necessary work. Others are just going to cut a ribbon to declare the opening of a festival or an exhibition. Other royals are going to visit in their own country or abroad people who suffer and are recovering too slowly from a disaster. The intervention of a royal can make a difference. A place in a village in Africa were the locals can go and get water for their children and to prepare their food can sometimes make a huge difference, etc.... It is not difficult for us to have interest in the interesting things some of the royals are doing.
Anonymous 20.46 you are correct Prince Bernhard of Orange-Nassau (cousin of the King) is co-owner of the Dutch Grand Prix. As far as fashion goes. I would have liked Maxima’s pants without the extra material. I do like the cape just not on these pants. The material of the cape seems too heavy to be worn on top of the light flowy pants.
