The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are making a four-day visit to Colombia at the invitation of Colombia's Vice President, Francia Márquez. The Duke and Duchess arrived in Cali on the fourth and final day of their visit to Colombia. The Duchess joined a panel discussion titled 'Afro-Descendant Women and Power: Voice of Equity' at the Municipal Theatre in Cali. The event concluded with a vibrant fashion show featuring local designers, celebrating the creativity and talent of the Colombian fashion scene.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited Jóvenes en Cali, a youth organization at Unidad Recreativa El Vallado in Cali. The Duke and Duchess joined the student dancers on the floor towards the end of the musical segment. Following the dance performances, the Duke and Duchess spoke with the young people, listening to their personal stories and learning about the challenges they face and the successes they have achieved through music and dance.
For their final engagement in Colombia, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited the Petronio Music Festival in Cali, a vibrant celebration renowned for its dedication to Afro-Colombian music and dance. Held at the Unidad Deportiva Alberto Galindo Sports Complex, this annual festival is the world’s largest tribute to Afro-Colombian heritage, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors each year for a vibrant display of music, food, art, and fashion.
The colorful skirt looks gorgeous, and I love the splash of color with regards to her shoes, beautiful color. The white outfit is equally lovely and very appropriate choice. The green dress, I love, but I don't like uneven hems, regardless this looks beautiful, love the color.
ReplyDeleteAnonimous 20/6.05,you made a mistake on the website because it only deals with the outfits that the ladies wear.Anyone who is a hater bully and has bad language should go to the respective websites.Respect those who come here because they don't like cursers.Tankyou.Another excellent choise that Meghan made.
DeleteAnon 10.03, when your that irritated that you can’t even keep track on where to respond
DeleteA big thank you to Helen for posting all four days of this trip. I can only imagine how much extra work has been involved. I hope I can speak for at least some of the others that comment here to let you know how much it is appreciated.
ReplyDeleteOn the final day, all three of these outfits were by native designers. The first skirt is by Silvia Tcherassi. From her website, "[t]he pioneer of the Latin flair—according to WWD—was born in Colombia, on the shores of the Caribbean. Tcherassi began her career as an interior designer, but the search for new artistic expressions led her into fashion. Her creations have been presented during the official calendar of Paris and Milano fashion weeks invited as a special guest by their organizers." Meghan gave this outfit her own signature twist by adding a simple top and magenta pumps. She is also wearing fan earrings gifted to her by Vice President Francia Márquez, reportedly handmade by artisans in the Chocó region. The second skirt of the day, "El Carmen Canvas Hand Embroidered Midi Skirt in Ecru", is another Juan De Dios design. I am surprised how much I like the simple tshirt with it. I don't know that I would have thought of styling the skirt that way, but it works so well for the event. The third outfit of the day, is by Andrés Otalora. From his Instagram, "Empowering women through bold, feminine and sophisticated ready to wear colombian designs." This is a fun and flirty maxi, with the color I think she needed. It is a nice, memorable way to end this trip. I read that this dress was no longer available, but they are now taking pre-orders. I am not surprised. Meghan is also wearing earrings from a Colombian designer. A lot of thought was put into what she wore the past four days, giving nod after nod to her host country. She worked these pieces into her existing wardrobe and kept her own style all the while. I learned that all of the brands have been at my major department stores and I was not unaware of their origins. I really enjoyed Harry's style as well. He has certainly graduated from the mandatory blue suit.
Another excellent and informative post. The green and white print is fun and flirty for a tropical night out. The sequined skirt and white shirt are a good addition to any wardrobe.
Delete1:54 quite a novel you’ve published here - you seem to be keen on this couple. My opinion is that these posts raise the nastiest comments we see here and that it would remain more peaceful and kind if either (1) the blog did not post Sussex photos or (2) Sussex aficionados could focus (as this commenter has) on fashion rather than the need to win and personal meanness and bullying, which ironically the Sussexes campaign against. (Bob)
DeleteSo, are you going to let us know how much you are paid for this over the top endorsement of Meghan's wardrobe? How are simple tops a 'signature twist'? How do you know they are taking pre-orders? The amount of gas-lighting and propaganda that follows these two is nauseating. They promote truth and transparency, yet they limit the press coverage to Reuters and Harper's Bazaar with all others banned. They complained about the Royals not protecting Meghan but the reality was the Royals would never use so much control and manipulation. People , like myself, are traumatized by their lies and their acolytes who evangelise them - like the above post. That said, I think she was fortunate to have such wonderful Columbian designers to choose from and the hemline of the green dress is quite lovely and commonly found here becauseof the dancing.
DeleteThank you so much for this detail and I echo your thanks to Helen. I enjoy following Meghan’s fashion because she is not limited by royal protocol. I didn’t dislike anything on this trip but the last day was the best for me. I am not usually a fan of dresses with this strange hemline, but on her at this event I think it worked perfectly and the colour on Meghan is beautiful . It has been nice to see that ‘most’ of the negative personal comments have now stopped, although we are still getting ‘why are you reporting on her, she’s not royal’ from time to time. With most European royals on very extended summer breaks it has been fun to have some interesting fashion to discuss. LRB
DeleteMeghans PR team working overtime I see
DeleteHello @Anon 01:54
DeleteGreat information ..... thanks a lot.
Nice to be concentrating on fashion in a fashion blog.😀
Re, our blog coordinator, Helen, we are spoilt, you know. I don't know any other roayal blog that presents such a quanitity of photos.
I take back my earlier over optimistic comment that the hateful and unnecessary comments seem to have reduced. Sadly once again I have been proved wrong. I continue to enjoy following Meghan’s fashion, and for those royals I prefer not to follow I just don’t click on the posts. Equally Helen covers some royal adjacents who I have never heard of and I find this interesting too, particularly given, as with Meghan, the slightly more distant relatives are not restricted by royal protocols. But again thank you Helen and anon 01.54 for your insightful and thoughtful commentaries. LRB
DeleteAnon 06.05 thank you for calling this out!
DeleteBob,6:05 and 6:19 should take a chill pill and learn to scroll by if you are not interested in Harry and Meghan like you do with other working and non working royals being headlinded. No one forces you to read , but you choose to tell us who you are reacting negatively and with nasty remarks. Karma is having a field day.
DeleteThanks for the interesting details Anon 01:54! And thanks to Helen for making these posts about the trip!
DeleteAnon 12:02. Totally agree.
Delete@Bob, well said. The Meghan apologists are always on the look out for any slight to their beloved. Even the mildest criticism of her outfits or her motives is deemed to be ‘hate’ which makes it difficult to have a genuine discussion
DeleteThe green and white floral dress is really lovely.
ReplyDeleteOnce again, a trio of lovely outfits.
ReplyDeleteI really like the skirt of the first outfit. I saw close-up pics of it a few days ago and it is so pretty; the embroidery/sequin work is delicate and the colours are attractive without being garish. I'm so glad that she chose a white top to keep the look fresh and to accent the skirt.
The white/cream outfit at the dance performance is also pretty low key yet looks stylish, thanks to Meghan's slim figure and poise.
I love the green tropical print dress which is well suited to a celebratory final event, and caps an end to 4 days of a well chosen travel wardrobe. The large, bold print suits the style design of the dress, and the uneven hem gives a fun and playful feel both, to the exuberance of the event, and to the warm Colombian hospitality they have enjoyed. Very nice!

Thank you, Helen, for these wonderful photos. The ones of Harry and Meghan dancing are touching and sweet. I particularly like the patterned skirt—truly beautiful fabric. Also the green dress does add a welcome nature color. Meghan’s choice of Columbian designers is thoughtful. It’s just been a pleasure to follow this trip for a very good cause.
ReplyDeletehello Anon 06:06.
DeleteAgree with your comments.
Looking back at what’s been presented on the catwalk during the Sussexes' visit to Colombia, the “défilé" has been a good opportunity to see fashion from Colombian designers. And I like what I saw.
Bravo to Duchess Meghan and the supporting team behind her.
But not forgetting the purpose of the visit and the topics surrounding mental health, cyber harassment, online discrimination and others which were focused on.
And as you said, “it’s just been a pleasure to follow this trip for a very good cause”.
Both outfits look fantastic on her, but the green and white dress is the best outfit of the trip to me (and standards were high!). I love the uneven hem and the festive attitude it gives with her hair loose.
ReplyDeleteI loved all her outfits and jewelry on this trip, she has impeccable style. I read she did hair and make-up herself; don't know if that's true but she did a great job.
What I like the most about this couple is the fact they truly enjoy themselves. They radiate happiness together. The salsa dancing video... <3 No amount of clothing can beat that :-)
Damsel Dragonfly
Oh dear,
DeleteI agree Damsel Dragonfly. The hapiness and joy and love for each other is what make the haters more hateful and jealous. I love all the outfits she has been wearing on this trip and she is a beautiful woman who can wear all these summery clothes.
DeleteOf course staged,as there are some photogaphers
Delete@ 20/8 10:29
DeleteI don't think so. I can see that it is spontaneous and the little girls of the dancing school who wish to dance with the prince ? They don't fake. Besides I often saw pictures of prince Harry dancing when he was still single. He gave me the impression of being a good dancer.
9:59, having different opinions doesn’t equal jealousy and hate. Let’s not stir up a problem where there is none.
DeleteI agree to 10.29, 20/8, they (have to) play a role for the press...
DeleteToujours tres élégante, c est inné chez Meghan. Cette personne est loin d être sotte.
ReplyDeleteFroufrou
And what do you want to express with that comment?
DeleteI te to the party but if you haven't got anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all. Meghan looks phenomenal, as usual and the haters are just rude people.
ReplyDeleteNot sure I see any hate here anywhere actually, could you be more specific?
DeleteThank you Helen for the up to date and informative information on the Sussex's visit. It was a pleasure to see the photos and read the comments.
ReplyDeleteNice outfits, do like the skirt, not too keen on the green dress. Lots of show and maybe pretend ? josebabe
ReplyDeleteWhy would anybody hate Meaghan Markle or even be jealous, unless that person knows her? I think all of this handholding and exaggerated displays of affection
ReplyDeletetedious and unconvincing.

Fully agree on your first question, sometimes it feels like we are speaking to teenagers here..
DeleteI think you might be right about the Sussex Defenders being teenagers! I do wonder how demonstrating bullying behaviours here seems worthwhile to them. I groan whenever a Meghan post appears because I know what happens next. It’s the funniest thing when she’s out “speaking” about cyber bullying…. And they’re out and about bullying anyone who doesn’t demonstrate great devotion to their idol. Sigh.
DeleteAgree with you, anon 20.12 !
DeleteThe irony is that we keep seeing those who also bully Meghan attacking people defending her for the bullying. You cant make this shit up...
