Be sure and like this dress on the Duchess. It suits her an it is fashion. I wonder if she bought it in Paris.

    3. Maybe the company has a boutique in Paris.
I think, MATELIER STUDIO is a Spanish fashion house. ??
This is what they say about the dress…….
“Very elegant midi dress made of printed viscose, with a new quality of silky-touch fabric, in cream and ochre tones.
The cut of the dress is loose, fitted at the chest and with a bias flare at the skirt.
It has maxi butterfly sleeves and a Perkins collar. The back is low-cut and closes with a bow. It can be worn inside out, with the peak in front and closed at the back” - Dress: 100%VI - Lining: 100% PL

This is a pretty kaftan stye dress. I love the colour and the fabric print, and it suits Sophie very well because of her blonde hair, her tan/makeup, and that it is loose and flowing. She must be thrilled with the length too :) Only thing I'd have changed is her hand bag. A small gold clutch would have completed the look perfectly.

Obviously you don't know what is fashion. One of the few times Duchess Sophie is wearing something that is fashionable and new. The cleaning lady is wearing what Sophie wears usually : shirt dresses !

Any chance we could show some respect for the Duchess instead of comparing her dress with the one cleaning ladies wear. I've never seen a cleaning lady with a dress like that.

Hmm. On the one hand, it is lovely but, on the other hand it seems like something you'd throw on while at home receiving guest for a Tupperware party back in the 1970s.

    1. My mum had Tupperware parties in the 1970's and she never dressed like that.
To wear a dress like that to a Tupperware party would be quite posh and probably only by written invitation with a RSVP and details for your chauffeur to park the car.

On the upside, the next time there's a special function in Jordan they need to attend she's set. This dress is perfect in terms of being respectfully dressed for that culture. All she has do is throw on a tiara and a sash.

So many negative reactions for the first time Duchess Sophie is wearing a fashionable evening dress. It is up-to-date, it suits her and is finally something different than her so predictable outfits. Other royal ladies have worn already this type of dresses on different occasions and they received a mix of good and bad comments too.

    1. Lots of negative comments on this site and others about Duchess Sophie’s choice of dress.
For the occasion, IMO, she has made a good choice.
If you look at her workload at the moment she wouldn’t have much time for pondering over fashion mags, fashion shows, trends etc.
And in her kindness, she’s given the skirt length police a day off so that they can take a look at the Olympic Games.
You know, in amongst the negatives you can always find a positive. 😁

This dress reminds me of something Princess Margaret would have worn in the 1970’s. It’s not my favorite for Sophie.

  11. Think this is a great choice for Duchess Sophie. It looks fluid and comfortable, and the rich colour really suits her. Very different from her usual look but think it's a great choice.

The pattern of this dress is OK. The dress has no shape, it just hangs on her. css

Paloma.

  17. I don't mind this dress, but the pattern on the fabric is too much. Regardless she looks beautiful.
