Never thought VB does such boring dresses!

  3. Very pretty!
This is a very well structured and balanced dress, nice fabric, nice print. I especially like the v-neckline and the short sleeves.
It is the length that Sophie prefers as of late but looks better than most of her other outfits. This one is light and airy, steers clear of prairie territory and is very flattering. Also, this is the kind of subtle high-low hemline that I can get behind.

    2. @Vanessa What I don't get: is she so short, that dresses buyed from the rack are always too long for her and she just doesn't care. Or does she like them longer and get them altered to her taste. But why would she do that? The designer has put some thought into the design of the dress. To make it deliberately longer puts the whole design out of proportion.

    3. To Beth: I have been wondering the same. Why always those long skirts? I don´t mind long skirts but Sophie not only wears them exclusively (whereas in earlier years she readily wore shorter lengths as well and looked great) and she unfortunately tends to choose items that look way too heavy on her.
I don´t know how tall she is; she looks average in height, so I don´t think she would struggle to find something that fits her. I wonder if she has some injury or scar or other problem on her legs that she wants to hide. If so, she is managing well, but it is often at the expense of more becoming, better proportioned and well-fitting clothes.

  4. La duchesse Sophie est ravissante dans cette robe imprimée fleurie mais plus courte avec des petits talons, sa silhouette serait bien meilleure !

Lovely dress, but a strange choice for the House of Dior. I would have chosen a Dior couture for the visit and worn heels.

A couture dress for a non-official visit. That’s overkill. I don’t think the French would expect that. I think she’s also there in support of the mentioned Scottish firm.

I can't believe this woman will be 60 years old in 6 months. She looks amazing. What I admire most is her positive approach to everything. Despite the difficult beginnings in the royal family, she managed her role perfectly. She followed the advice of Prince Philip (When you talk to people, don't talk about yourself) and the Queen (Don't explain, don't complain) and the result is great. (Maybe other RF members should also follow her)
The dress looks light, airy and perfect for the occasion. I know some people criticize the length of her dress, but in this case, I think it's fine.

Because of dresses that are repeatedly too long, some feel compelled to say that the emperor ( with no dress) is well dressed.

I have worn the same type of dress in the 8O-s. The only difference was the hemline. Nobody wore hemlines that were longer in the back and shorter in the front. The color of my dress was navy with drawings of all kinds of geometrical objects in pink, red, yellow, white, black, green. The drawings were not too little nor too big and there were not too many drawings in the fabric. I found a pair of sandals with those colors in the same shape and with low block heels like they are worn today. You see, everything is always coming back.

You must have looked very smart 😃
I laugh when I think how a poor seamstress would lose her job if she couldn't sew a straight hem on a classic dress.
She’d be given her pay and told to go find work in another profession.
And so, today, the “trade” is probably looking for seamstresses with experience in sewing uneven hems and paying them a very good salary.
The only exception to this would be a fishtail hem or dress.

  13. This dress looks lovely, very pretty and feminine. I like the style and the colors, the pattern of the fabric, is just enough. I love her up style hair. She looks beautiful.
