Yesterday, the Duchess met with the Olympic Games operations centre staff. Too long dresses for both ladies. The best look is the Max Mara dress, but on the model not on Duchess Sophie. When will she discover herself that the proportions of her dresses are not OK ? The white shoes she is wearing are not looking good on her feet, best wear a trainer from a sports brand which look much better or a good pair of sandals which give support to the feet.

    1. Dresses that are too long. British fashion.

Well it may be British fashion but it is far from elegant.

I disagree with anon 15:34. Her shoes are platform sneakers. They are trendy, which is quite nice, but it does not help with the look of length of her dresses. They are too long. If they were made to be maxi dresses, it would be a different matter.

Since a couple of weeks I am looking up different shoe stores on line because I wish to buy an additional pair of sneakers. Platform sneakers are indeed trendy, but I must say the platform sneakers I see on different websites of shoe stores are more appealing to me. None of the great sport brands make platform sneakers that are so wide and clumpsy than those worn by Duchess Sophie.

    5. Hello Anon 09:42.
If you are saying that the (longer) dress length seen in British fashion is inelegant, then, sorry, I can’t agree with you.

The Hearst dress looks cool and comfortable. It could be shorter but overall very nice. I like her shoes

  5. C'est la robe Max Marra qui est tout à fait le style de robe que je pourrais porter mais légèrement plus courte et surtout avec des chaussures à petits talons !

Delighted to see her. Neither dress is especially flattering, not helped by the awful shoes. She often looks her best in casual clothes so wish she had copied the other royals and gone in a Team GB outfit

I don't understand it either. Why wearing dresses if you go to the biggest sport event that exist. For the opening ceremony and the dinner party and reception by President and Madame Macron O.K. a dress was better. To assist at the competitions a sporty outfit (with preference for the polo and jackets of each country) is looking much better.

  7. The lady in the multi-coloured dress with Duchess Sophie is Dame Menna Rawlings, British Ambassador to France and Monaco (since 2022). She has a long and interesting Curriculum Vitae and a collection of titles. Before her appointment to France and Monaco, she was British High Commissioner to Australia. From the few photos available on the net, the Ambassador seems to be a conservative, smart dresser.

@ If you like her style. I don't. Prefer Queen Sylvia of Sweden's style a simple shirt in white linen on a straight pair of trousers. Also Queen Mary of Denmark's style when she wears trousers. I like her dresses too but more for a party at night in the garden or parc behind a castle or a palace.

Really like Sophie in both dresses! Both look comfortable and fashionable. I'm iffy about the shoes--I understand why she wore them but I feel they just look a bit too clunky with dresses. It's also great to Sophie--it's been quite some time!

These outfits are not flattering on Sophia. I am baffled with all the money these monarchies have at their disposal, some of these royal ladies (and not just Sophia) can't find a decent seamstress. Or at least someone who know how to shorten skirts and let some sems out at the bust, so they don't pull so tightly. Ugh!

  12. Both dresses look nice, they seem comfortable and appropriate. The white in particular looks lovely.

The white 'cooling' fabric choice is typical of Sophie. Lovely as always, and enjoys sports.
Too bad this blog did not show The Royal Princess Anne, during the two week span of time she spent at the Olympics, and so soon after her accident and time in hospital.
