Sofía is NOT Queen of Spain, the Constitution does not allow two Queens. She is te Emérita or the Former Queen.

There are other countries where the former queen is still called "Queen". Nobody is getting angry for that. Maybe you suffer from the heat.

Telling a stranger to calm down or assuming anger are unwelcome habits from social media that feel really bad to the original commenter and others who come here to enjoy sharing. Simply state an opposite opinion if you wish, without directing it AT another commenter. Here can be such a nice respite from the crazy attacks of social media - let’s keep it that way! - Grace

Keep quiet. It's the same in Belgium, Denmark. Until 14 of June 2014, she is named "Sa Majesté la Reine Sophie". Before she was "Sa Majesté la Reine d'Espagne".

Anon 06:51...in Spain we do not suffer from heat, all summers are hot...LOL..that must be your problem...
As I said, in Spain she is called La Reina Emérita "The Emeritus Queen"...I do not know in " other countries"...

    5. If even her own son, Felipe VI, told people that Queen Sofia (La Reina Sofía) was going to come to Paris to support Spanish athletes? Why are you protesting so much? Spanish newspapers and magazines also call her La Reina Sofía.

Such a busy, elegant lady. Still playing an important role for her country. Like Queen EII and her daughter PAnne, it looks like she always put country before herself. Very graceful indeed.

In Belgium once Fabiola de Mora y Aragon married King Baudouin, she was called Queen of the Belgians. That is different than in other countries with a monarchy : in Belgium they are called King and Queen of the Belgians that is their official title. Not everybody knows that. They are also called by the foreign press and media King and Queen of Belgium, well that is not correct. Is it a crime not to call them by their official titles ? No. After King Baudouin passed away his wife and queen was simply called Queen Fabiola just like she was always called and just like Queen Elisabeth (widow of King Albert I). In Belgium once you get married to a Belgian man (royal or not) you accept his nationality. Maybe one can choose it now and keep your own nationality too (there are so many things that change each year). We never felt the need to say Fabiola of Spain, Queen of the Belgians or should we have said Fabiola de Mora y Aragon, Queen of the Belgians ? Lol much too long... The same for Paola of Italy, Queen of the Belgians or Paola Ruffo di Calabria, Queen of the Belgians ? Also much too long..... Why make it complicated when it can be simple. With our present queen it would be very funny : Mathilde of Belgium, queen of the Belgians.

Anon 24:22.. Because in Spain married women keep their maiden own surname and people have two surnames, It is a different culture.
King Felipe is: Felipe de Borbón y Grecia, because his father and mother, not only Borbón, and Greece is the surname Sofía mantained, because her Germán one was too difficult for the Spaniards.
      Leonor de Borbón y Ortiz.

  7. After reading all these comments I'm very pleased that we have a president 😂. But there is also one rule: the former president will always be Mr or Mrs president, but the current president is the president of the republic. So simple to remember.
In any case I'm interested in royals because I like fairy tales and beautiful clothes.
