Seems to me only the Swedish Royal ladies wear the old costumes.
Is there any Swede among the readers who knows if this is true?

Yes it's true. The men doesn't wear it, "by tradition", the court says.

She is ridiculous. But why does she dress like that? It's 2024, certain traditions no longer make sense. Other people are dressed normally. Irene

Manner Irene manners, traditions are to be traditions no matter how old they are. I trust that your country has some of them aswell.

King Charles wears a kilt when in Scotland
Norwegian Royal family wear their traditional outfits on certain occasions.
Charlene has worn a traditional dress once.
Bhutan Royals wears theirs all the time.

what you call 'modern' is adapting to someone else's culture and losing your own.

Love the Traditional dress. Something different from the modern style is good. css

Dear Irene, I suppose that you do not come from Europe. I can assure you that traditional costumes are worn on specific occasions in many countries and regions throughout the continent. These traditions are upheld by proud people. Queen Silvia represents Sweden and the customs of her adopted country. She does not deserve to be ridiculed.

Virginia thank you for the information, I appreciate traditional dress. It seems there was an event, as well as her visiting some elderly people. Now the dress makes sense.

I was wondering why she wore the traditional dress. Meeting the elderly, many born in the fifties, and I am quite sure they were not wearing this. It is a pretty dress but today it seems to make her look older and tired

I love the traditional dress, but whilst I am saying this from a position of concern not meanness, I feel she does look older and more tired than 6 months ago. I do hope she is well. LRB

I don’t think it makes her look older, but I would also like to hear if there’s a reason why she’s wearing this traditional dress. I love it when people still do this. F.e. the queen of Buthan and the empress of Japan.

  9. Jolie tenue traditionnelle mais à mon avis, à ne pas porter avec ce genre de lunettes de soleil même si elles lui vont très bien !

I agree, Queen Silvia looks tired and worn. The problem is not her clothing but her hair, which is much too long, slightly stringy, and very dark, I.e. dyed. Princess Benedikte with her untouched face and natural hair looks much fresher and, sorry, more attractive. The late Queen stopped dying her hair at the right moment and never did anything to her face and looked wonderful until the end, my opinion.

Isn't Benedikte Danish? Anyway, I think Silvia looks ridiculous in that outfit. A pretty dress would've been far better.
