On August 28, 2024, Queen Maxima paid a working visit to the Financial Affairs Helpdesk (Helpdesk Geldzaken) in The Hague. Queen Maxima met with officials at the Helpdesk Geldzaken (Financial Affairs Helpdesk), where residents can seek financial advice. Visitors to the Financial Affairs Helpdesk can request an overview of their income and expenditures, ask for money-saving tips, and apply for allowances and tax waivers.

Delete. Well she has a masters degree in economics/finance, she speaks dutch, english , spanish plus french at a conversational level. She is on the UNSGSA committee for economics development. I think that makes her smart

DeleteGood question. Someone has once begun stating she is smart, and it just has been repeated endlessly after that, but nobody knows. Her speaking Dutch is beyond terrible, so much is clear, so not so smart on the language front, whatsoever.

ReplyDeleteI like the summery outfit. Yellow is a color that suits Queen Maxima. Her blouse looks like it is made especially for her, no big sleeves or too wide shoulders. I also like her little yellow handbag. Maybe the earrings are a bit too long and too big.

DeleteAls zij zich niet kan inbeelden wat arm zijn betekent, dan vraag ik mij af waarom zij zich bezig houdt met mensen in arme landen te leren hoe zij moeten omgaan met geld. Dit alles tijdens haar reizen voor de Verenigde Naties. Zij heeft ook de vrouwen gevolgd bij het opstarten van kleine ondernemingen in arme landen van Zuid en Latijns Amerika of Arika. Het is makkelijk iemand bekritiseren om wat zij/hij doet. Ik zeg altijd als je denkt het beter te kunnen, waar wacht je dan op om zelf in actie te schieten. De projecten die de Verenigde Naties opstarten om arme mensen een kans te bieden moeten gesteund worden door mensen van adel, beroemdheden, enz...die hun invloed kunnen doen gelden bij de overheid van deze arme landen. Het is daar dikwijls dat het schoentje wringt. Deze landen worden dikwijls bestuurd door mensen die onwetend zijn op gebied van geld en zelf niet kunnen omgaan met overheidsfinanciën of niet over de juiste mensen beschikken om hun land meer welvaart te bieden.

DeleteErg ongeloofwaardig deze mevrouw te horen praten over schulden, vooral omdat ze zelf nooit de deur uitgaat zonder voor minstens 50k aan armbanden en horloges om te hebben. Baan bij de VN is speciaal voor haar gecreëerd om haar relevantie te verschaffen (ook Mathilde en Mary hebben van die erebaantjes), maar nergens zijn de resultaten van dat werk ter beoordeling vd belastingbetaler die voor de kosten van dit baantje opdraait. Ze kan zich ook op ander fronten nuttig maken, als het haar daarom te doen is. Geen van hen moet zich met (belasting)geld bemoeien, zie het debacle Laurentien.

DeleteJij noemt dit erebaantjes en bent bang dat jij er als belastingsbetaler moet voor opdraaien. De koninginnen zijn uitgenodigd door de VN om naar Afrikaanse en Asiatische landen te trekken. Het enige wat de VN van hun vraagt is het gewicht dat zij in de schaal kunnen leggen als beroemdheid (ook bekende filmsterren hebben dit soort werk verricht voor de VN). Ik weet niet hoe het zit in Nederland, maar ik weet wel toen Koningin Mathilde bij één van haar laatste reizen naar een ontwikkelingsgebied trok voor de VN, één van de plaatsen die zij bezocht heeft reeds steun ontving van België omdat de oogst van cacaobonen in dat land was aangetast door insecten. Ik zie trouwens niet in of een Belgische koningin zich ooit met belastingsgeld heeft kunnen bemoeien, daarvoor is er een regering en ministers. Zij zijn degenen die beslissen waar het geld naartoe gaat en hoeveel. Het is zo dat in ieder Europees land, denk ik, in mijn land is het zo dat de overheid jaarlijks een budget stemt dat dient voor ontwikkelingshulp.Of je het er mee eens bent of niet, de regering is gevormd ingevolge democratische verkiezingen. De budgetten die gestemd zijn voor een bepaald doel zullen daarvoor ook gebruikt worden of het nu om ontwikkelingshulp gaat of de uitbetaling van de pensioengerechtigde personen.
@Anonymous 16.16 Belgisch. De kosten die Maxima maakt voor haar VN-baantje worden door NL betaald uit belastinggeld, 150.000 euro per jaar. Filmsterren die hun gezicht lenen voor goede doelen doen dit vaak op eigen kosten, of het goede doel betaalt. Hier dus niet. Hoe het in Belgie geregeld is, weet ik niet. En nergens valt te controleren wat ze bereikt met dat werk. Vreemd hè aangezien het ons geld kost. En Laurentien heeft zich in NL, wsch met de beste bedoelingen, bemoeid met het zgn toeslagenschandaal. Haar oplossing: de slachtoffers allemaal enorme bedragen (belastinggeld) toestoppen zonder enig bewijs vd geleden schade. En uiteindelijk is dan niet zij, maar de MP, verantwoordelijk. Geen goede combi.

Yes, and what about her being a symbol of financial issues for poor people. It’s like being a so-called defender of nature and driving big cars and taking jets, helicopters and plains like others take a bike or bus.

DeleteShe has a masters degree in economics, perhaps she is able to suggest ways people can live within their means. She rewears her clothing, has a budget like everyone else. And perhaps some of her clothing is on loan or given to her to highlight the brand. She also is the queen, do you expect her bicycle to her appointments.

DeleteYou can always exaggerate in both ways. A businessman doesn't drive to his appointments by bicycle either. He usually gets a car from the company who is employing him (part of his salary).
She is indeed a financial expert. I heard her speak at a World Bank conference and she is certainly not just another royal with a glamorous life. We should all be considered and respectful in our hasted judgment.

DeleteYou know what it is ? All the reactions we are reading here are coming from people who are jealous from everyone else who has more than they have. If you have a house of you own there will always be people who are jealous of you. They just forget one thing that you and your husband have worked for having a house of your own and that they could live from 1 salary with 2 or 3 kids. They received all kind of government support, which I never received. Of course I had only 1 kid and they claimed that they couldn't go to work because of their kids. OK that is a choice you must make before you begin your life. In the end if you who worked together with your husband and are able to buy something nice (i.e. a beautiful jewel) now and then, they think it is not fair that you can buy it and they can't.
At 16.25 I don’t think it’s about jealousy, it’s about being a bit realistic towards their so called accomplishments, hard work and talents etc …. A lot of people work much much harder and are rarely given attention, rewards, titles… we should all be greatful for those people in stead of overly applauding these queens … Maybe we better stick to the fashion comments here.

We, as a matter of fact, have not a single clue of their accomplishments or the results of their ‘work’. It is, IMO, all window dressing, meant to give them relevance, whereas they have none. They are just spouses of…. so, indeed, restrict the comments to fashion.
