Natan but I like it very much. Not sure if the hat is needed . This dress suits her so well

  2. A Natan dress, and I like this one. The color is gorgeous, and I like the design on the fabric. The dress is a good length, and I just love the color of her shoes, perfect! Its always a bonus to see the Queen she always brings such positive energy, smiling and engaging. Always very enthusiastic on each and every visit she makes. I'm not sure what the group was she was participating in, but by the look of it, no doubt it was loads of fun, with the Queen sharing her brand of humor and fun. Well done Ma'am, well done.

I have never heard a queen in Europe called Ma'am only in the U.K.
In the The Netherland the King and the Queen are called : Majesteit
In Belgium according to the French language the King and the Queen are called : Votre Majesté and in the Dutch language Majesteit. Before King Philippe came to the trone it was in Dutch : Sire for the King and Mevrouw for the Queen in French Sire for the King and Madame for the Queen. I think King Philippe is often still called Sire and I think he doesn't mind. I heard on the video when he accompanied his daughter Elisabeth to the diploma Ceremony at Boston University that the director of the college where Princess Elisabeth studied called King Philippe : Your royal highness which is how we must call a prince or a princess in Belgium not a king.

Does she know she has a couple of loops of dough on her head? Too bad, her hair looked nice for once. The one glove thing a bit strange.

She put down her handbag and the other glove or gave it to her lady in waiting (if she had one with her).

Many times Queen Maxima is dressed beautifully but there are times that her costume is just too much. This white dough is really off. I agree w/ a previous commentator.

  6. I really like this dress which surprises me as I don't usually like Natan outfits.
The gloves and hair thing are unnecessary imho though.

She is very beautiful and well dressed here. But she should get rid of her hats. Irene

Hat is needed. It was an official opening, so hat and gloves required.

Thank you for this explanation I was wondering why a hat. The gloves can be attributed to all the hand shaking, but now I see it is protocol too. Does anyone know where to find dress protocols?

  13. Si je dois faire un choix, ce sera carrément pour la robe de Maxima avec les motifs sur ce bleu lumineux ; pourquoi donc cette sorte de bibi torsadé ?!

Why does she keep wearing those ridiculous hats? Fascinators and hats are suitable for "elegant" events - for example, weddings, official receptions, or garden parties, where OTHER guests wear similarly elegant clothing too. But for visits to schools, companies, homes for the elderly, or places where you meet people dressed informally. it is necessary to dress less formally: business or smart casual. (I know this from protocol lessons for our diplomats). ..
Maxima could learn something from Princess Kate or Queen Mary of Denmark.

Did it occurred to you that protocol might be different in other countries than the one you are living in ?

Maxima is NOT Q. Mary nor CP Catherine, and thank G*d for that! I couldn't handle three of the same or similar. I love the variety and stylish quirkiness of Maxima, and the cool, casual and chic elegance of Mary. Catherine, bless her, is too formulaic for me.

@Stephanie.It has nothing to do with diplomatic protocol, but royal protocol. You may have noticed that Queen Mary has been wearing more hats since her elevation to the role of Queen Consort and that Queen Camilla wears more hats than the Princess of Wales, in accordance with her more formal duties.

      @ Stephanie
We are not talking of diplomatic protocol here but of royal protocol. So since the U.K. does not belong any more to the European union after the Brexit their protocol might be different too ?

I think a lot of people think Natan is a man. Natan is the name of the company (one or 2 boutiques in Brussels and one in Amsterdam and/or The Hague, I am not sure). Edouard Vermeulen, the designer took his first steps into fashion in a boutique that belonged to his mother. After a while he started a boutique of his own and gave it the name Natan. After many years he has a couture collection and a prêt-à-porter collection. Since a couple (or more) years he is also collaborating with other young designers that work for him. Someone said that it was time he got retired, well maybe in a way he did but not completely yet, I think. Queen Paola also was a client of Natan, never heard she received so many bad comments on her clothes, on the contrary. Of course in those days there were no social media or blog spots.
