Queen Jetsun Pema and Prince Jigme Ugyen attended the consecration ceremony of Jangchub Chorten in Chelela. The consecration ceremony was presided over by Dorji Lopen, in the presence of Queen Jetsun Pema, Prince Jigme Ugyen, the Queen Mother, Princess Dechen Yangzom, Yum Sonam Chuki, and members of the Chorten construction committee, including Desuups who worked on developing the grounds of the Jangchub Chorten.
The Chorten was built under the royal command of King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan, as a Dharma initiative to commemorate the birth of Prince Jigme Ugyen of Bhutan. Jangchub Chorten is located at one of the highest points in Bhutan, offering panoramic views of numerous sacred sites spread across the Kingdom. Construction of the Chorten began in February 2021 and was completed in August 2024.
