On August 31, Princess Martha Louise of Norway and Durek Verrett were officially married. On Saturday, Princess Martha Louise tied the knot with Durek Verrett in front of 350 guests, including close friends and family, with proceedings led by parish priest Margit Lovise Holte. The wedding ceremony took place at the Hotel Union in Geiranger.
King Harald, Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Princess Astrid, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, Prince Sverre Magnus, and Amalie Givaer MacLeod were among the royal guests to witness the couple's union, along with Princess Martha Louise's three daughters: Maud Angelica, Leah Isadora, and Emma Tallulah.
Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia, were among the guests at Princess Märtha Louise and Durek Verrett's wedding at the Hotel Union in Geiranger. Princess Martha Louise wore a bespoke ivory wedding dress, which she paired with a tiara that was given to her by her grandfather, King Olav, on her 18th birthday.
ردحذفI love that Queen Sonja, Mette-Marit, and Ingrid Alexandra wore traditional dress. A reminder of something solid, wholesome and unchanging that all Norwegians can focus on in these challenging times. Victoria, as a guest (and I'm guessing a friend of the bride since childhood), pulled out all the stops and looked spectacular.
Agree !!

حذفThe Swedish royals and the Norwegian royals are family.
The traditional bunad is wonderful!
حذفSuperbe mariée. Robe sobre . A mon goût je n aurais pas ajouter un voile
ردحذفMais apres tout c est son mariage alors j accepte.
Victoria sublime et Sofia magnifique
Froufrou
You can see the tremendous amount of thought put into clothing. I like her mature wedding dress. Her girls with lace flower bracelets matching the lace of her dress and colour matching with the tie. The ladies of the royal family in traditional Norwegian dresses. Crown Princess Victoria looks great in the vibrant orange. I must say I was pleasantly surprised at the restraint used to make it a very classy occasion. I am surprised to see group picture when they seemed to stated no photos of the family. Well done
ردحذفNicht schön aber selten.
ردحذفWhen it is impossible to say something nice...
حذفStimmt genau!
حذفA few takeaways: CP Victoria looks lovelier than I have seen her in months; however, it almost appears she's over shadowing the bride in this elegant persimmon gown. Like Princess Sophia did, Victoria might have toned it down a bit. 2/ I hate to see Princess MM forced into the old-fashioned traditional garb; when it would a great occasion for her to also wear a stunning gown, as a close family member. There is always a time for the country's traditional outfits at national anniversary celebrations, etc. - this wedding was NOT IT! 3/ The bridal couple look happy and a pretty wedding gown that seems appropriate . 4/ King Harald makes a valiant effort to push through, even with his crutches. I admire his perserverance.
ردحذفTo defend Victoria bit I think the guests were encouraged to wear colourful and vibrant clothes. I saw some of the other guests and they were eye catching!
حذفI agree that Victoria looks absolutely gorgeous but she is not at all overdressed or overshadowing the bride. She is dressed perfectly for the requested attire. Do some internet sleuthing to see the vibrant, eclectic choices made by some of the guests. You will rethink your position.
حذفI don't agree that the immediate family should not have worn bunads. This is a decision that would have been made with Martha Louise beforehand. This entire wedding has been planned in the spirit of cooperation. The family would not have done anything to spoil the day. If she had wanted them in formal attire, they would have been dressed formally. To further emphasize the fact that they were dressed appropriately, there were several wedding guests wearing bunads as well.
Yes it was. The invitation said traditional costumes. In Norway a bunad is the nicest party garment we have. And don't worry they put on a dress for the dinner so you can show your nice character through your judgement yet again.
حذفWhat could she have done? Just wear a summer dress? Or wear some freakish outfit like some of the guests? She showed respect for wearing a formal dress approbriate for a royal wedding.
حذفA Bunad is a word I didn't know.
حذفOn checking it out, this is what I found ......
"Bunad represents Norwegian cultural heritage, fostering a sense of pride and connection to their ancestors".
"Today the bunad is worn for celebrations and special occasions".
Somewhat like the Scottish people and the kilt.
Reply to Virgini. Hhaki ? It's Laurentien who is in khaki. CP Victoria is right. The bride does more does enough. Traditional costume was recommended to avoid problems.
حذفIt is pretty delusional of you, Virgini, to believe that Mette-Marit is FORCED to wear traditional garments. The bunad is the most cherished piece of clothing a Norwegian girl or lady can own, and they are seen as status symbols too, especially those who cost anything from 5000 to 10 000 USD. In fact, it is quite customary to wear bunads to weddings here. I’ve seen several bunads in every single wedding I’ve been to.
حذفThe dress is nice but not the best choice for her in my opinion. It is more a dress for a young woman. I would have choosen something with sleeves.
ردحذفTotally agree. The dress doesn't flatter her, especially her arms. And the grooms wears trousers that are too long. The cummerbund and the strange broad tie are completely wrong with a white tie outfit. That's a crazy mixture. With a white tie outfit a true gentleman wears a white waist coat and a white tie. And why is the groom the only one wearing not a black tie outfit/tuxedo like all the male guests? What was the dress code?
حذفAgreed! — Jane
حذفI agree. She looks pretty in a girlish way, but the upper part of the dress is not to her advantage
حذفthe dress is ok, its the tiara and the veil that should have been replaced for a hair piece.
حذفms
Completely disagree. Nothing wrong with her hair, tiara or dress. She looks great. What are we 80 years old?
حذفAgree the dress is not the most flattering in the first photos. It looks better in the formal photo but, as said above, something with a sleeve would have been so much more elegant. (Consider the Duchess of Grosvenor or Archduchess Antonia of Austria for a couple of recent examples) Love the photo of Princess Marie-Louise's daughters. Prince Sverre-Magnus's girlfriend is an absolute stunner.
حذف@anon 15:20, A 55 year old bride dressed like a princess with tiara and veil is not a good look, she should save that for her 21 year old daughters
حذفMärtha Louise wore a normal weddingdress!
ردحذفYes, I was surprised too, although to give her some credit, I’ve noticed that in recent years her choice of attire has been much less eccentric than once was the case. For a long time, we could count on every outfit being quite strange-looking.
حذفPrincess Sofia looked terrible!
ردحذفExatly. Absolut the worse. Why didn´t they throw her out. A disaster of all guests.
حذفThat's what you think. I love the dress.
حذفThat is whar you think. I love her dress
حذف22.15 Sofias has awful shoes!
حذفPrincess Sofia no lmatter what she is wearing by some people she is always a person who is attacked for her outfits. There is nothing wrong with her dress Compared with some of the other guests she is dressed classic. What did you expected of a wedding ceremony like this. I think there was no dress code at all. Every participant wore what he/she liked and there was no harmony at all.
حذف06.56 I agree! It must be a shoe she has before she met
حذفP CP, it looks cheep!
6.56 Cheap was the word! Sofias shoestyle looks cheap!
حذفSofia wears a really beautifull dress!
حذف@ 08:48
حذفApparently you are not following the new trends in shoes. Take a look at an online shoe brand, all the shoes for the Winter period have high block heels and they are not cheap at all. Better inform you first. It is true that this type of shoe has been fashion in the 80-s, but if you should wear those you would see immediately the difference with the shoes they are making now and Princess Sofia's shoes are new. I wouldn't wear them myself because the rest of my clothes is rather classic. But younger women than I are wearing them with jeans, with wide pants, with short pleated skirts and thick black tights (for the coming Winter).
@6:59 There was a dress code in place for each event of the pre-wedding and wedding festivities. For the wedding ceremony, women were told to wear long ball gowns, and to avoid white, all black, all pink and gold. Reportedly, men from the US were told to take their inspiration from the Oscars, which is a black tie event. For the European men, gala attire was suggested. On a personal note, the Oscar suggestion seems odd as 'black tie' has been rather loosely translated in recent years, but to each his own.
حذف@Anonymous 08:48 Thanks! The misinformation and lack of knowledge about fashion and fashion trends on this 'Fashion' Blog ist astounding.

حذفPrincess Sofia looked stunning. Did not overshadow the bride but a vibrant shade mixed with white for the last days of summer. Very nice!! Love her hair down. Sarah
ردحذفVictoria est magnifique. Je n’aime pas la robe de Martha Louise. Quelle est l’idée pour le marié d’avoir des pantalons beaucoup trop longs?
ردحذفCP Victoria looks incredible, beautiful. She was my favorite, stunning gown and accessories. Prince Daniel as usual looks very well attired and groomed, a very elegant man.
ردحذفThe traditional dress looks fabulous, just loved the fact these were worn.
AP I agree!
حذفI am disappointed with the wedding dress. It doesn't fit properly. It pulls up under the breast and around the hips. When you try on a wedding dress you want it to fit while standing, walking or sitting. I also find a train plus a long veil plus a huge bouquet is a lot for a second wedding, more so when you are in your fifites. There would have been better options. Something sleek with short sleeves or so. No veil and a smaller, more natural bouquet. And what is it with his pants. They are miles too long.
ردحذفI like the headband with the pearls instead of a tiara. But her hair looks undone, almost unwashed. Make-up is not good at all. I almost did not recognize her. They both look tired and unconnected. Did they party too hard last night? Or were they stressed out from the whole wedding thing? Martha Louise has already resigned from royal duties. She is restricted in using her title. He husband will never receive a royal title. He may be accepted into the family but not by the norwegian people. They will play zero role in Norway. They could have had a chill wedding in California where they live. This is what happens when you sell your private life and your royal connections to papers for money.
Sono d’accordo con te.
حذفSi tolgono dagli impegni reali e poi vogliono gli stessi privilegi.
Forse la coerenza non appartiene a loro.

Märtha is wearing a tiara, this one was given to her on her 18th birthday by her grandfather King Olav./Grace
حذفI think Princess Martha Louise’s wedding gown look stunning and she was beaming with happiness. Wearing national costume to a wedding is never wrong, and certainly not surrounded by such spectacular sceneries!
حذفLove, love, love the individual designed bridesmaid dresses on her three beautiful daughters. Jenny
It’s not a headband ML is wearing but the tiara King Olav gave to her on her 18th birthday. The point with her dress might be that she wore sleeves and a small veil for her first wedding with Ari Behn (and I loved that choice of dress! It was fresh and simple but unique) I wouldn’t say this dress wasn’t age appropriate because I hate this term. But something was missing in this dress, that would have made it ‚Wow‘ So it only looks ill fitting and too long. Christine

حذفShe is wearing a tiara. It is the King Olav Gift Tiara, given to her by her grandfather King Olav V on her 18th birthday.
حذفOMG! I think you take the prize for saying the most negatives statements in one comment that I have ever read since I discovered this blog.....life must have dealt you some bad blows!!!
حذفDon't see anything of what you see. I see a beautiful bride beaming in a beautiful dress that fit her perfectly.
حذفAgree with Anonymous 03:45
حذفEveryone looks appropriate and lovely, ML chose a beautiful gown for her 2nd wedding. The only quibble I have is that I don't understand the point of that very long train and veil. I think the overall look would have been more refined had they both been considerably shorter. S.M.
حذفI should add to my previous comment that I am somewhat surprised by Princess Sophia, while her gown is lovely, the bottom half is very white, not a good idea for a wedding guest when the bride is obviously wearing white. Also the flower girls' dresses seem inappropriate to me with the bared shoulders. S.M.
حذفIt’s the first time p Märtha-Louise looks older than she is, perhaps to much party and late nights before the weedingday!
ردحذفAwful shoes on Sofia, she wants to be longer!
ردحذفthe bride is wearing the same awful shoes!
حذفParmi toutes ces dames, c'est la princesse Victoria qui est la plus belle ; non et non pour Sofia !
ردحذفLe couple me semble heureux et je leur souhaite tout le bonheur possible.
ردحذفLes invités contents d'être là.
Soyons nous aussi tout simplement heureux......joli mois de septembre à vous toutes et tous, Lou!
Haha, in the second photo the groom has suddenly a clowns hairstyle 🤣 Ellen
ردحذفI noticed it too, hilarious 🤣
حذفNo Ellen, he’s getting a spiritual message. It’s normal for your hair to go like that when the subterranean spirits are contacting you. 😀
حذفBut I'll be serious for a moment and wish them a long and happy marriage.
That’s hilarious … once you see it you can’t unsee it. Do you think the photographer lined it up deliberately? Likely! - Grace
حذفI noticed that too and did a double take. I found the guy with the hair in the group photo back right. Talk about the money shot!
حذفThe ladies from Sweden (Victoria and Sofia) look great. Although I would not participate in a wedding, from which photos are sold to the tabloids - but hopefully CP Victoria made sure that her privacy will be respected and photos from the reception, where she is, will not be published.
ردحذفThe groom's suit is odd: the jacket seems small, the pants are too long, and the "belt?" draws attention to the abdomen.
Martha Louise Bride: A long white veil? Really? The second wedding of a 52-year-old divorced (and later widowed) woman with a long white veil? I know I'll get critic for this from the other debaters, but I'll give my opinion anyway - I think it's ridiculous, as always when a lady (with adult children) wants to play the innocent girl. An elegant long white dress with a tiara would do.
Stephanie
To add to your description of the groom's tux, the sleeves were monogrammed with his and Martha's initials in gold. The same monogram can be seen on the back of Martha Louise's veil. The tails were lined in gold to match the tie and cummerbund. I agree with you about the cummerbund, it accentuates his "middle age spread".
حذفI think she was going for the ethereal look, the little girls dressed to look like fairies.
حذفLeave her in peace. If she wanted a dress and a veil like that, who are we to say what she should wear. In modern society people do not take into account anymore these old traditions of what can you wear in what situation and at what age ? This whole wedding cannot be compared to another royal wedding. Besides from the most royal families in Europe ther was nobody present. The Royal Palace of Belgium let us know that there would be no members of the Royal Family present at the wedding. From all the other families I don't know if they sent a message. If they were there we would have seen them. Only The Netherlands sent Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien, Spain nobody, UK nobody, Denmark nobody,.....
حذفThe reason there is only a few royals there is because this is not a official head of state wedding, but a private wedding for a member of a royal family. Belgiums Astrid was in Paris. Frederik and Mary couldn't go as they now are King and Queen even if they are close friends of the bride. Marie was in Berleburg and so on. And in the end a few words from the dutch. Prince Constantijn:-It has been exciting to get to know Märtha and Verrett's circle of friends. - It is an interesting group with different people from Märtha and Durek's life. It's really great to be here.
حذفAbout the salsa party:-The party was great. Everyone put an effort into their outfits and it felt like being around family. Lots of love.
Princess Laurentien:- the bond between the Norwegian and Dutch royal houses is very strong, and something we value highly. - We adore them, and the bond we have is very strong. It is wonderful to see how they celebrate this as a family. They are very dear to us.

حذفI’m pretty sure that in today’s modern world, no bride is an ”innocent girl’ anymore, not even the younger ones marrying for the first time, so should we give up the tradition of the bride wearing a white veil altogether? I think not. Live and let live.

She looks much more into him than he is to her.
ردحذفAnswer to Renee. Totally agree. None I think except the traditional outfits to avoid problems.
ردحذفWhat a miss from Sophia, while Victoria was stunning. I like the Norwegian Royals wearing the traditional bunads.
ردحذفAs for the bride, the veils was too much. Her dress is really lovely (though the fit is not impeccable), it would have been perfect to let her beautiful hair and tiara stand out.
MARIE
Victoria looks sensational. And Sverre Magnusses girlfriend reminds met of a young Katie Holmes
ردحذفWhile I think all royal guests (plus Märtha-Louise's daughters) dressed very well, I cannot say the same about the bridegroom. He looked tacky all along. Trousers far too long, the silk tie oddly slung around his shirt collar, also such a cummerbund does normally not belong to a white tie tailcoat. The embroidery on his sleeves (a stylised "M" connected with a "D" would be my guess) seems very childish. Some of the so called celebrity guests / friends looked awfully put together, and downright tacky as well. As for the bride - it was not a bad look overall, and I get that was what she chose and wanted to wear, still it made a haphazard impression on me, as if things were not thought through completely and she just wanted to be a very youthful bride (in fact, I cannot blame her for whishing this). Perhaps all she wanted was doing the opposite what she'd done for her first wedding 22 years ago. However, I liked that she wore the tiara her late grandfather, King Olav V, once gifted to her. This way, he was part of the wedding, too. Nice touch.
ردحذفSOO glad it is over and we do not have to see this anymore.

حذفI agree with the many that commented on how lovely CP Victoria looked.
ردحذفYour wedding dress is such a personal choice. It’s something you put on,and think this is it!Would it suit anyone else, maybe not,but as long as the bride loves it,then it’s mission accomplished!
I wish them every happiness!
Lowri.
Yes! I agree completely with your sentiments. (V.M.)
حذفLowri, such a kind comment! - Gracd
حذفThat was nice said Lowri, I agree completely. It's so good to see, that this comment felt has still many kind persons who can express themselves in a nice way - even if they have something negative to say. I've been here from the beginning of this blog (I was Zucchina, but I lost my blogspot name, try to get it back again) and it was so nice to read all comments because everyone was focused on fashion. I especially miss "Cherry Blossom", she always had very thoughtfull comments. There were also many others whose nick names I do not remember anymore.
حذف@Just Me. "Cherry Blossom" was the best, wasn't she? CB, if you are reading this: You are missed. Best wishes to both of you.
حذفI did get a chuckle from photo 2, for a moment I thought the groom had sprouted hair and looked like a clown. I found the young man with the hair in the group photo. Photo 2 had the 2 heads lined up perfectly, though I am sure unintentionally. The groom still looks creepy to me.
ردحذفMany blessings to the bride and groom. Everyone looked lovely and happy. I like the detail of monogramming- well done. ML looks lovely, as do her daughters. I held off on commenting on the "cool" outfits they wore on the cruise. I am surprised by the traditional outfits but okay, it's national pride and they are beautifully made. CP Victoria looks stunning. I prefer her dressed to the nines as she nails it every time. Sophie looks beautiful. Her tiara is certainly one of the most versatile in existence and very thoughtfully made. The King is surely a trooper. I love how close and inclusive the Norwegian family is. They are, of course, a family but no one's physical need is hidden, like how it used to be in the "old days."
ردحذفGod bless Martha Louis and Deruk, and may they have many happy years together.
I was going to comment from the library computer rather than the cellphone, but this post is popular and there are 72 comments already. For the record, there is more than one Christine today. There seems to be a contradiction between the bride's low key, natural look and selling the photos to tabloids. Christine
ردحذفYes, the photos are better on the monitor than a cellphone. Now there is a group photo. I usually prefer peaceful co-existence over making waves, but feel compelled to comment on the spaghetti straps on the dresses of the junior bridesmaids. Why sexualize young girls, and their mothers agreed to that? Perhaps with the proceeds of selling the photos to the tabloids they can hire a lawyer/financial adviser who can suggest they follow the example of her Swedish relatives and start a foundation or two to raise cash and draw salaries/stipends that way. Chris L.
حذفPrincess Sophia looked OK untill I saw her on TV. Her choice of bra looked quite vulgar.
ردحذف-Rivka
Pregnant women have always bigger breasts, nothing vulgar with it.
حذفThis is not the first time there have been unkind comments about Sophia, only to learn later that she is expecting, Rivka.
حذفI agree with those who love CP Victoria’s stunning dress. I find the ladies putting another lady down because she is 50 and shouldn’t do this or shouldn’t do that at a second wedding very disappointing. A bride should be able to wear what she wants surely in 2024 - what non existent rules say she cannot wear a veil etc? Come on ladies, let’s support each other more. If you don’t like an outfit then that is fine, we all have different taste. But this suggestion that what one of us doesn’t like becomes inappropriate really disappoints me. LRB
ردحذفI agree with you.
حذفOffensive comments are wrong but critical ones are fine. That’s what gives interesting debate. When we all agree, which happens occasionally 😀 , it is nice but not so interesting to read. While critical comments on young children, under 16, would feel wrong, there is is no obligation to be ‘supportive’ just because the subject is a middle aged lady.
حذفWell said!
حذف13:21 under 16! Children should be left alone no matter what. A 16 year old is in a very sensitive age, and still a kid. But people on this blog has for years criticized children. Just look the way so called parents and grandparents talk about Gabriella and Jaques.
حذفWell, this event is over. I liked the Wedding gown and Tiara. The National dress from the RF looks fantastic. The guest who really looked great is Victoria and Sofia, sadly Madeleine didn't go. I also liked the outfits ML's daughters wore. Laurentine's gown was so so. All I like to say is. I wish them the best for their future together. css
ردحذفLoved the champagne-colored bridesmaids dresses. Loved CP Victoria's gown. Princess Sofia's gown was fine. Loved the national costumes - thought that was a great touch. Honestly, though, for a second wedding, this wedding was overdone. The lineup of all those bridesmaids seemed to overshadow the bride and her obvious joy. I didn't think the bride's wedding gown fit well at the top. It would have been nicer if she had chosen something more classic and tailored. But it's hard to be negative when this wedding clearly had a sense of ease, an unabashed good time. Despite the sea of satin and silk, everyone seemed ready to kick off their shoes and party.
ردحذفAll in all, it was the best that could have been done given the circumstances
ردحذفThis wedding was a veritable hodgepodge!
ردحذفI have nothing but admiration for King Harald and Queen Sonja.
ردحذفI think some of us have learnt a lot.
Thank you your Majesties.
I wish you both a happy and peaceful retirement..
What retirement? As a Norwegian I obviously didn't get the memo.
حذفdeadeggs, lovely comment, I agree with you.
