Congratulations to the couple. I would love to see the back of the dress; is that an heirloom train.

I had the same thoughts about the train. It certainly looks like a vintage piece. It would explain the simplicity of the dress design.

I don't like the train of the bridal gown. It may be a piece of lace or whatever which is valuable, but on the pictures it looks old and dirty. This was not the case with Queen Paola's veil worn by herself and Queen Mathilde at their respective wedding and also by other members of the family. It was/is a valuable piece of real Brussels handmade lace that belonged to Queen Paola's (great?)grandmother. Maybe when CP Elisabeth is going to marry one day she will wear the veil again.
The real handmade Brussels lace is disappearing because there are almost no people left who can make it. The Brussels lace which is sold in the neighborhoud of the Grand Place in Brussels is fake and not handmade but by Chinese imitators. If you ever are in Brussels as a tourist be careful what you buy and certainly does not give a high amount of money to buy pieces made of lace.

What a charming lady princess Elisabeth is. This lovely green dress is so very stilish and modern. Together with the little subtle green hat she is looking amazing. The veil of the bride looks very extraordinary

  4. I don´t like Elisabeth´s dress at all. The colour is nice, but the design is horrid and the material cheap-looking. I wish she had chosen something more classy and timeless than this (to me) failed attempt at a 1980 retro look. Also generally speaking, I think that skirts of such thin, flimsy fabric really need a slip or lining underneath in order to move well. Without, it´ll always cling to the legs or get caught between the legs or even in the butt.

The bride´s dress is beautiful and seems to be off-white or cream to better match the darker veil and train. The colour difference is still a bit irritating but I assume it´s heirloom pieces, so the colours were not her choice but given.

I fully agree with you. Elisabeth's sister often wears Maje and I don't like most of her Maje choices either.

I agree with you about the benefits of a good slip. A lining may keep the skirt from being too sheer, but a slip can keep the skirt from going where it is not meant to.

Elisabeth has worn some very attractive outfits. I don't consider this amongst the better choices she has made.

Agree with comments above and below on this dress. As said elsewhere, if it’s Maje it won’t be cheap but the material certainly looks flimsy and looks decidedly matronly on her. Princess Elisabeth is generally very smartly turned out. If she didn’t want a new outfit, there was a fabulous yellow dress worn for National Day in 2023 or a great tangerine coloured outfit from the Te Deum the previous year.
I really like the unusual pale blue and coffee coloured outfit worn by Princess Sibilla

I wonder where all the dresses CP Elisabeth has worn until know are gone ? Maybe she just wears a dress borrowed at a designer to make publicity for his/her work. From one I know everybody can hire an evening dress for a normal amount of money : Essentiel Antwerp. As well Queen Mathilde as CP Elisabeth and also CP Amalia have an evening dress by that brand. It is possible they were hired but nobody knows for sure. When she was younger her sister Eléonore wore sometimes a dress that Elisabeth had worn before. Now I think it is not possible anymore because in the meantime Eléonore is taller than Elisabeth. But they can still borrow head pieces, clutches and earrings from Queen Mathilde which they do sometimes.

How can she look matronly in a dress by Maje. It is a brand that is worn by almost always young people (like princesses and rich kids). The dress type Princess Elisabeth is wearing is made of satin, just like those worn by her sister Princess Eléonore. Once again I am having the impression that you and a couple of other bloggers are not aware what is fashion among young people of the upper class in Europe. Of course this type of dresses is not worn by teenagers and twen of the lower class. They are wearing cheap street style brands that are just good to be worn one season and after that are given away for recycling.

Sorry Elizabeth, where did you buy that dress? You have money, change personal shoppers if you can't dress yourself. And don't listen to your mother's advice . Irene

I agree with your opinion about the green dress: I also do not like it. I disagree with your comment about Elisabeth's mother. I think the queen is a very classy lady who wears beautiful clothes.

If you read the item completely you would have seen the dress is bought by MAJE. A brand worn by young European aristocrats and not cheap at all. CP Elisabeth knows what she wants. She has good taste which she inherited from her mother Queen Mathilde and from her paternal grandmother Queen Paola. The budget foreseen by the government for the crown princess is not used by her, since she is not a working royal yet. Besides her hat and clutch she borrowed from her mother. I have heard she borrowed the dress from a niece. I think it is wise of her not to wear each time a new dress and accessories. She is a smart lady and thinks of the climate. At the end of this month she is leaving for the States to go study at Harvard University in Boston. Since she is known for someone who is studying hard, she will not have much time to dress up and go to parties where she needs this kind of dresses.

CP Elisabeth is such a beautiful young lady with an enviable figure. The color is nice but the dress was not a good choice--it's somehow matronly and cheap looking, even though I'm sure it wasn't cheap.

  10. Oh dear, dear Princess Elisabeth. Please go back to wearing elegant clothing. This 80’s rag made of what looks like parachute material is a mess.

Vanessa I agree with you regarding this type of fabric clinging to the legs. queen Mary, duchess Sophie, princess Eugenie have all worn this type of dress and the same thing happens. And if you are heavier busted it looks like slings holding the chest. It may be in fashion as are slip dresses but it is not becoming.

The bride and groom look very happy together. The bride’s train seems like an unusual color for a wedding dress, but perhaps it is an heirloom. Her hairstyle does not seem the most flattering for her. I like Princess Elisabeth, and she is lovely, but I do not care for the color or fabric of her dress, nor do I care for the style of her hat with its almost turban-like shape.

I already expected the bad comments on CP Elisabeth's dress by MAJE.
I love her in that dress. The brand is rather expensive and worn by young European aristocrats, like her sister princess Eléonore and others.
There are other pictures on other websites of this wedding and CP Elisabeth was the best dressed. The other female guests were dressed in a mix of colors and styles that didn't go together. Princess Elisabeth was the guest of honor on this wedding ceremony. Prince Guillaume and princess Sybilla of Luxemburg and their family were also dressed elegant and with good taste.

I actually like the dress, how the fabric is flowing and even the color. I could actually imagine my self wearing it on a summery evening while on vacation in the mediterranean. I don’t agree with the critics at all.

Anonymous 20/8/24 07:41 (Rose?), 'best dressed' is rather subjective ... 'I love her in that dress' was enough. Cheap or expensive is no guarantee for failure or success. Also the fact that brands are worn by others is not a guarantee for a nice look. Out of curiosity, why did you expect bad comments on CPE's dress? She usually gets good press by many on this blog.

It's a pretty dress on Elizabeth. Some people don't try to outshine a bride on her wedding day, maybe Elizabeth was somehow conservative in her dress selection process. Christine

I think Princess Anne didn't stay long at the Olympic games. Only the heads of states where there longer and invited on the diner on the first evening and at the reception offered by President and Madame Macron before the opening ceremony. There are pictures of these heads of states. Since Princess Anne is not a queen or a president she was probably not invited. Duchess Sophie was filmed when she followed one or two competitions. Probably Princess Anne was already back home then, otherwise they could have followed the teams together. Members of other royal families followed competitions together. Like Prince Albert of Monaco together with Gran Duke Henri of Luxemburg and the children of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde. King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima and their two eldest daughters together with King Felipe of Spain. It is not only on this blog that I didn't found pictures of Princess Anne but on other websites with pictures of the games, I didn't found pictures of her either. Just one picture with the British athletes.

@Anon 17:35 Since you are such a super fan of Anne, you might consider starting your own blog on the everyday happenings of The Princess Royal. In part, you could detail the date each of her items of clothing were first worn, and keep a running tally of how many times a garment has made a public appearance. You could certainly control the content if you ran your own site. I can see the content would be heavy on her public appearances, as her fashion is limited, but you would have a place to enjoy everything that is Anne. A royal fashion blog doesn't seem the best place to highlight Anne and her work the way you she feel she deserves. Attacking this FASHION blog won't help you achieve your goals.
