On August 21, 2024, King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark visited Assens Municipality in connection with the 2024 summer tour with the Royal Yacht Dannebrog. The town of Assens is celebrating its 500th market town anniversary this year. The oldest known market town rights date back to 1524. The King and Queen visited Peter Willemoes School, where the Queen stopped by the school's homework café. Later, the King and Queen visited a treatment plant at Forsyningsparken in Assens.

Mary looks fantastic! Love the belted jacket that flatters her figure and the sweeping warm-colored skirt that transitions from Summer to approaching Fall. The fascinator is festive and coordinated but not distracting.

Love Queen Mary's outfit! The dress is beautiful and looks great with the jacket she chose to cover up the fact the dress is strapless. Her hair looks wonderful in this style of up-do and the ornament flattered her, the dress and her jacket. I noticed that she very sensibly switched from her high heels to flats for the walkabout on those cobblestones. Both pair of shoes look great with her outfit. Mary really looks lovely today. As for KFred--he looks so handsome in his uniform, really dashing. I think its kind of funny that he is one having to do clothes change instead of Mary--usually it's the other way around.

I love Mary's full look, but especially her jacket. Lovely relaxed cut and colour ,and it fits her so well.
I'm really enjoying her casual and smart/casual looks on this mini tour. I note that the colour palette for the entire week seems to revolve around just a few of the same colours, which are then mixed and matched - browns, tans, whites, creams and that beautiful pale blue - which is all pleasingly consistent every day we see them. But best of all is that Frederiks wardrobe colours also seems to be coordinated with hers - now that's style!

(It's hasn't been featured on this blog, but Mary re-wore one of my fav dresses - a black midi length dress with colourful embroidery - at a reception they hosted on the ship in Aero, before they sailed to Assens. She looked wonderful at that reception.)

Yes, I saw it too and another pink dress with a delicate grey pattern on the first day of their arrival with the Dannebrog.

I remember a quote from Olympia dukakis's character in "Steel Magnolias " was the only thing different than us and animals is our ability to accessorize and Queen Mary's outfit is a shining example! FITZHUGH

  6. This Zimmerman dress is beautiful, the addition of the gorgeous jacket I love! It fits beautifully and is a lovely design. The belt works in well. Her shoes are gorgeous. I see she has swapped for flats to meet the people, a wise choice. Her subtle pieces of jewelry are a welcome addition. Love her up style hair and the hair accessory. The King looks handsome in his Naval uniform.

      Thanks, so it's a 10/10 from me.
Queen Mary looks so happy and smiling when she is amongst the local people.

I really like this outfit also the headpiece. A real nice look for Q Mary today. Fredrik looks great in uniform. css

  8. So darling and summery. I feel like Mary is going for a more understated look than she has in the past. She wants the focus to be on her service to Denmark more than her impeccable abilities to dress to perfection. That's just my observation.

No pictures of the evening reception at Dannebrog? Queen Mary is wearing a green skirt.

I think it's the green skirt from the H&M conscious collection, which Mary has worn several times and lastly in November 2023 during the Spanish royal visit, when the famous pictures of Frederik became official.

I love this dress by Zimmerman. Although the jacket is beautiful on itself it does not go well with the dress. To me the dress should be worn at a party on a hot summer night. Acompanied by a Pashmina in case it is getting colder during the night. The jacket has creases which is normal for a linen fabric. The belt does not go well together with the dress either.

Picture 3 shows she has a pashmina in her bag. Perhaps she removed her jacket for the function that the king did a wardrobe change for, changing her look

Mary sempre perfetta, sempre sorridente e accogliente ancora più di prima.
Sono un po' stupita dalla seconda foto: è normale poggiare in terra un cappello che poi il re -forse- indosserà nell'uscire fuori?

Mary has changed her style and wear almost the same outfit and style as late Queen Margareta.A fashion who looks great if you are over 75.
I do not think this is great style for a women over 50.
Zimmermann skirt is boho and a white blouse perhaps could have made the outfit more fresh.

It is not a skirt but a dress. I don't think a woman over 75 can still wear such a dress if she doesn't wish to look ridiculous.

I never saw Queen Margrethe with a dress like that and with thin shoulder straps. I don't see why Queen Mary should dress like Queen Margrethe did. Mary is the queen now in 2024, she must dress like she thinks it must be done not like a queen was dressed a long time ago. Otherwise she will look like Princess Anne in no time.

    1. A white blouse with that dress? I do not understand how it could look good, terrible I think.
I think that she looks gorgeous. She has a narrow waist like queen Margarethe but she really doesn't look 75 years old, it's complete nonsense.

Dear Beth, I disagree. The new king is very sensitive and is adapting to his new role. The new queen is motherly, this was very visible during the couple‘s wedding ceremony. However, in my opinion he certainly has casual charisma whereas the king of Spain is much more formal and is, unfortunately, often outshined by his ambitious wife. Give the poor man a chance, his attentive spouse is his best asset.

      @ Virginia
I think King Frederik should already been adapted to his new role by now. One cannot compare King Felipe of Spain and King Frederik. The difference in length is visible and cannot be changed. I remember the video when he and queen Letizia arrived at the OG in Paris to have dinner with the other heads of state. King Felipe when he stepped out of the car he looked like a king, even to someone who don't know who he is. He has a lot of charisma, which King Frederik doesn't have. That doesn't mean that he is a better king than Frederik. But whatever the reason is, you must admit that more than once the spouse (queen) is the one that makes the man (king).

    2. Hello Virginia. There' s still some of the untamed boy in King Frederik.
Which isn't IMO such a bad thing.
He is a great King and will, with Queen Mary's examples, get better and better. God save the King.

  20. Wow, she is really rocking this tour and in my option the king is also looking a lot more stylish than before.

Seems a bit of a hodgepodge to me. Halter dress with a soft slouching cut and a rope belt? Not sure what to make of it. Never mind the headdress cum flower (what should we call it?). I would conclude it’s disappointing.
