On August 19, 2024, King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark visited the town of Rønne in Bornholm. The visit was made as part of the Danish King and Queen's 2024 traditional summer tour with the Royal Yacht Dannebrog. Rønne is the largest town on the Danish island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea. The King and Queen of Denmark visited Østerlars Church in Gudhjem. The day ended with a visit to Det Gamle Elværk, which forms the framework for the 'Energiø Bornholm' project, which focuses on wind energy and the green transition.

ReplyDeleteIn the first outfit, I love the long fringed jacket and the blouse with the gathered sleeves (pirate blouse?) - but not worn together. For me, this is an example of where the total look of an outfit is less than the sum of it's parts. And though we cannot see her head-piece very well, I don't like what we can see of it. The large bow looks like a propeller attached to the back of her head.
ReplyDeleteBy contrast, I immediately loved their matching outfits when I saw pics this morning on their IG page. The colours are great - caramel and cocoa trousers, pale blue and white tops and slate beige blazers; best of all, the individual pieces seem well fitting for both Fred and Mary, including their footwear. So charming and so cute. :)

Don’t like the long vest or the blouse in Mary’s first outfit and the big bow hat is a bit too twee. Her second outfit looks nice and comfortable. Her pants have a good flare to them and are perfect for the summer.

ReplyDeleteA lot, perhaps too much, going on with the first outfit, fussy and unflattering. Afternoon outfit was nice and allowed a morph into very casual with trainers and untucked shirt.

ReplyDeleteLes deux chemisiers blancs sont jolis. J'aime aussi son pantalon, cette couleur est sympa, j'ai presque le même mais de coupe plus étroite.

En revanche le gilet long n'est pas terrible. Désolée de devoir encore choquer certaines hypersensibles-chatouilleuses-sérieuses, mais ça me fait penser à un tapis. Paloma.
I do not care for Mary’s first outfit - the long sweater, puffy sleeves, and hat/headpiece with the large bow do not look quite right together. She and Frederick are cute twinning in the second set of pictures.

I’m putting out my second call for information on Queen Mary’s coat/jacket.
ReplyDeleteTo me it has an ethnic, handmade, craftsman's look about it.
The closest I can find on who’s responsible is a fashion house in London known as “Harris Wharf London”
They seem to specialise in coats and jackets. I think Queen Mary has worn one of their jackets before.
Looks like I’m by myself here. Not many “like” votes for the coat from fellow bloggers.

So the coat/vest comes from the Paris fashion house known as Weill.
Weill is one of the oldest French fashion houses having been established in Paris about 130 years ago.
I think Queen Mary has been inspired by the “nautical” look of the coat with its Breton stripe print. To me it fits in perfectly with the sea going atmosphere and the royal yacht. Bravo Queen Mary.
I think the clients of Weill are probably conservative “well-to-do” ladies who aren’t interested in giving free publicity on handbags, accessories etc.

DeleteI liked the first outfit when I thought it was a short vest/gilet situation - together with the peasant blouse (which I adore) it had quite a traditional vibe. But I don't like it in its full version, looks like a bathmat to be honest.

Two great outfits, perfect for the occasions. I love that the King and Queen are wearing matching trousers--these 2 are too cute. The first outfit is good but that hat...I think its OK but the huge bow is never going to make me feel any love for it. I do like the trousers, blouse, and long vest together--very sharp sort of professional casual look--it's just the hat that throws me off. Love seeing Queen Mary on the traditional summer tour!

ReplyDeleteThe long jacket (Chanel style) and the blouse don't go together. The bow in her hair don't go with the rest of her outfit either. Is her stylist on vacation ?
ReplyDeleteOdd choices in the last few days. First the skirt with the wide flat bit in the middle, now a overly long cardigan, and the puffy sleeved pirate look of a shirt, plus the very strange hat that looks like she could take off and fly with the propeller bit on the back.
ReplyDeleteI like it all ... but not together. It seems oddly mismatched. That hat (a repeat from the Swedish State Visit, if I'm not mistaken) looks not good with that sort of long, sleeveless vest. The blouse is beautiful, but might be a tad too casual, in particular when wearing a formal hat. I get, of course, that she wanted to highlight Bornholmese designers with her pick. It's well meant, but ill thought out.
